is this a documentary because there is a extraordinary story to her life or is it to promote her further to sell more records? like what's is the angle here? sexual abuse? failed rehab? tragic events?
I’m just hoping for coverage of her Office obsession. Include the footage where Rainn Wilson pays her a surprise visit and we’re golden. (You can see that now on YouTube, it’s fun.)😁

There's way too much negativity in this thread. It's okay to have different opinions. Full disclosure: I'm not a fan either.

I will say this: Denigrating another human being you don't even know on a personal level is toxic. No one is forcing you to watch this documentary. There's already enough hate in the world, so let's try be more civil...
Dude it’s a forum. As such people express opinions. To say you’re not keen on someone’s music is hardly denigrating them. We all have different tastes. B.E is a singer in the public eye and therefore people are going to have an opinion. If they didn’t, she’d be out of a job.

Maybe it’s a generational thing but I can’t listen to today’s music. I keep going back to classic rock from the 60s and 70s to chill out (I’m late 50s) The anguished stuff of today is just homogenised, narcissistic and self indulgent.
that’s a description for every decade of music including the 60s and 70s. Same homogenisation and narcissism, just a different beat

I just don't get the adulation for an entire genre of new women singers who do nothing but whisper from the back of their throats.
I don't think I've even heard this persons music which means I'm not into the style/genre of music this persons music falls into.

The angle is she’s the latest teen star. So there’s a big audience that will lap up any content on her. Apple want to grow an Apple TV audience. Simple equation.

At least Tim is not giving us a documentary about One Republic
One Republic? Let me Google...

Oh I get it, because Tim Cook is gay.

That’s a good one 🤣 You go gurl!

PS Yeah, I didn’t get it after all 🤣 @Lounge vibes 05 has set me straight, so to speak, on the OneRepublic reference. My apologies for misunderstanding and assuming you meant he would like a former boy band (is that a man band then?) just because he’s gay 😬

Each to their own likes and dislikes.

Since Apple sites have decided to expand their scope to include Apple TV+ media I don't see any reason why every comment should be blind adoration rather than one's actual opinion.

Tastes in media content differ considerably from hardware and software likes and to me that is understandable as long as free speech is allowed here.
Free speech is most certainly NOT allowed here, just like any other privately run website. That’s not a right you’re entitled to here.

But within the terms of service you agreed to when you registered, well, post away!

And I’m sure it’s ok with you if others do the same—even if one’s actual opinion is something you consider to be “blind adoration”?

Another 'documentary' (hagiography?) to stoke the cult-of-personality. I went through goth and Em0 and this is yet another similar trope.

I find the young demos of Kate Bush much more interesting - and musically within the B.E. genre Fiona Applegate is, IMO superior but clearly not marketable to that core 13-18 demographic...

To me it's insane that we idolise 18year old musicians for their accomplishments - but ok.
Kate Bush is fabulous stuff. I remember being wowed by her music back in the day, I should probably revisit some classics soon.

Yeah it is a bit weird, but "their" "band name" is Billie Eilish, so that's the name that's used, even though it's a strong collaboration. So yep, no one really remembers his name.

It is Finneas Baird O'Connell, known mononymously as Finneas. He is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor. He has written and produced music for various artists including his younger sister, Billie Eilish.

and i don't think talent is in question here. what's in question is what makes her an interest in a documentary.
Her talent.

And yes, people most certainly are questioning it. Which is fine! People are free to like, love, dislike or hate... or anything in between 🤷‍♂️

But no matter what your opinion, people shouldn’t be surprised if others post their disagreement.

You understand, though, that there’s approximately seventeen million things one could fill in the blank of “does the world really need a _____”, besides this? And a lot of them would be less worthy than this. Including a lot that have already been filmed and released.

Wikipedia has a page for the awards she’s received. It goes on for... a while. It includes a pile of Grammys. She’s not just a little bit popular, she’s something of a phenomenon. Yes, she has one album. At one point, she had 14 tracks in the US Hot 100, 12 of them from that one album. That’s pretty impressive.

I’m not the target demographic for her music. But I really like some of the things I’ve heard from her. I wouldn’t mind a documentary about her. If you’re gong to make a solid case for this documentary being “not really needed”, maybe you should start by tackling thousands of more frivolous documentaries that have already been made?
I see your point about her achievement. But not every achievement needs a documentary. The Civip War needs a documentary. Jackie Robinson needs a documentary. These days it seems like one hit record gets you a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next to the likes of Alfred Hitchcock and Charlie Chaplin. This documentary reminds me of doing an autobiography in fourth grade.

Obviously I’m stating my opinion. Besides Apple, Eilish’s legion of adoring fans would disagree with me. But there it is.

That wasn’t the joke. OneRepublic has a band that Tim has been very fond of in the past. Between 2013 and 2015, they had their music featured in several Apple commercials, Tim tweeted a couple times about them, he had them perform once at a Apple event, etc. just like how Steve Jobs was fond of Coldplay and Bob Dillon

That’s actually pretty hilarious. Is that where that picture of him dancing is from? Pretty cringey 🤣

"The World's a little Blurry...." Well, OK, literal-minded folks, time for a visit to the ophthalmologist, right? :) ?? Heaven knows, now and then I've seen so-called "artistic" photos in various places that have made me wonder if I shouldn't be making an immediate appointment with my own eye doc! :D

That aside and more than likely not the point that was intended by the title of this documentary anyway, presumably Billie's current or fairly recent life experiences in this world have been a little blurry not so much due to any vision issues she may have, but more likely, some at times confusing situations which are still difficult and with which she is still struggling as she tries to make sense of her current world. I hope that with good strong support from family, friends and professionals on her team that she is able to work her way through things!

This young lady (and her brother) display an impressive amount of talent at quite a young age. I expect that will rather upset some who might be somewhat less accomplished.

Of course it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but what is?

The "talent" you speak of is her brothers proficiency in music software & her social media savvy. She's the product of trending culture that peaked in 2019. Her social stock has already slipped in 2020 as I've noticed once fervent fans being their fickle selves & moving on to the next trend. Talent is one thing, being timeless is a whole other.

If proficiency in music software and social media savvy were all it took to have a smash hit album, I think there would be a lot more smash hit albums, don’t you?

Music software no more creates a hit album than a word processor creates a best selling novel. No matter how proficient you are, the stuff doesn’t write itself, whether music or words. Pretty sure talent comes into play somewhere, no?

You seem to have come to that realization yourself by your last sentence, where you do a 180—acknowledging their talent but moving the goalposts to “timelessness” lol.

I said they “display an impressive amount of talent at quite a young age”, not that their music is for the ages 🙄 (Though it may be, who knows; my crystal ball is on the blink atm.)

Billie Eilish is manufactured. And Of course those who disagree with you are some how less accomplished than those mention. Just because some one doesn't agree with your opinion doesn't make them inferior to what's being said.
