We'll probaby see discounts on the consumer Macs, (but perhaps not as deep as last year, since most have been updated recently), and a good sale on any of the accessories that aren't selling well. :)

The grab bags might be worth going for. Some had some deep discount coupons in them last year I think.

Grab bags...

Did they do the grab bags last year?
How much did the grab bags cost?

I seem to recall some people getting the bluetooth keyboards in them one year... What other goodies have people gotten in them? Autographed photo of Steve? :D

The sales are nothing to write home about. They end up being the same price as an EDU discount in most cases.

A real Black Friday sale would have:
MacBook low end model @ $899
iPods for $50 off regular pricing on almost all models
Mac minis @ $450 & $650
iMacs @ $799, $999, $1299 & $1799
Apple Displays @ $349, $499 & $1099
*(Our displays are still way too overpriced for anybody to seriously buy them when you can pick up fairly nice 19" and 23" WideScreen LCD's at Best Buy for $200 range.) Putting a big price drop for one day would cause the flurry that would garner nation coverage that everyone else gets on Black Friday.

This would be one way of Apple making sure that people were opening up presents filled with Macs instead of eMachines from WalMart on Christmas morning.

Stop complaining and be glad Apple gives you any sale price. Apple is not a cheap bargain basement retailer or manufacturer. If you want 399 computers line up at Wal-Mart and fight old ladies for a cheap HP with the worst and cheap components known to man.

well hopefully apple will have a little better deals this year though. but i'm sure they don't really need them on ipods though, since they'll sell anyways

I'm cheerful to see any company relinquish even the slightest amount of profit. It's a marketing gimmick, but it's a good one. And it makes me like Apple a bit more, for some strange reason....

Here is sticking it to the Man!

I asked a manager at one of the stores what would happen if the item I just bought (let's say JBL speakers) went on sale on Black Friday. He said they would not offer a price adjustment. Year right! I'll just bring my old receipt with me, buy the same item at the lower price, then promptly return it using the old receipt. Done! :D

I have to work 9 PM to 1 AM Thanksgiving, then 2 PM to 12 PM on Black Friday. Too bad CompUSA doesn't pay time and a half on holidays. :(
Even grocery stores I've worked at payed time and a half on holidays.

Do they offer a discount on ipod nano at Black Friday? I hope so I am going to be getting my wife a 8gb red nano for christmas.

The discount is miniscule at best. At worst, it's an insult to customers as to why Apple can't offer better discounts on Black Friday.

Does the Apple sale start at midnight?

Is it a limited quantity or does everything stay on sale for the whole day?

Thanks

What's with all the red

I wonder if all that red in the teaser is just to go with christmas colors or is apple planning to release more "RED" products on Black Friday.
