I got to target at 8:30 last night and they were already sold out of the air. Ended up just getting one from macmall.

FYI: BHphotovideo has Air on sale

It may be cheaper since they don't charge tax in most states including CA.

----------

Im pissed right now.

Really only wanted the 16gb as i refuse to pay $100 for 32gb. Get to target, 3rd in line. Was told by the manager that theres 10 airs.

I go up pay, ask for 16gb and the guy is like we only have 32gb left. Im like you sure? I look over to the lady ahead of me and shes buying the last three 16gb even though its one per person.

So i had no choice but to pay $100 more for the 32gb.

I brought it to the staff attn but they just shrugged their shoulders. Not a happu camper.

Still got the $115 gift card, but this deal is not as hot as i wanted it to be cause of some greedy lady. Greedy people make me sick to my stomach.

She screwed me over and another person. And there was 10 ppl behind me

Next time order it online around midnight. They were available.;)

Blame target for not enforcing their own rule. She didn't screw you over directly. She took advantage of someone being dumb enough not to enforce the rule. You HAD a choice, you could have not bought one.

Its targets fault sure (mainly that cashier who helped her), but cmon, they all knew there were over 20 people in line for the ipad, they only have 4 of the cheapest model Airs, and they sell 3 to one lady? Ridiculous. The people behind me werent very impressed either.

I had a choice, I could have walked out but that would be dumb and a waste of my 3 hours driving 25mins each way and sleeping in the car for 2 hours til opening.

Even with the 32GB for $600 and $115GC, Im still getting a discount, just not as good thats all. It costed $620 with tax, I already got $63 back cause I bought two PS4 games with the GC and the cashier made a boo boo and instead of me paying $11 difference, she refunded me $5.

And since I just bought a PS4 game 2 days ago, I bought the same game, and took it to that store and got a refund. So right now I only paid $540 for the 32GB Air + free PS4 game that ill be selling for $50, so that will bring the cost down to just under $500.

If I decide to keep the 32GB Air, ill get it for $512 tax in - thats a pretty decent deal I think. Basically got the 32GB for less than the price of the 16GB.

Or I might keep the 16GB Air that I had already and bought from Best buy a week ago, and sell the 32GB for $60 profit, bringing the cost of the 16GB down to $50 less than the 32GB. But if it was me, Id say the $50 difference is worth it for 32GB.

Say I decide to keep my 16GB Air, how much do you think I can sell a brand new 32GB for? $575?

No she didn't. She was within her right to buy the iPads.

If you're going to complain about anything, then complain about target not enforcing a maximum purchase restriction. Many stores only allow 2 of such products. Besides 3 iPads isn't all that much

Though I do feel for your frustration, I'd probably be just as frustrated if it happened to me.

She is a scalper. She was asking me about how much theyre worth on Kijiji, what models are the most popular, blah blah blah. She even had the balls to ask me while waiting in line if i would buy one for her cause she knew the 1/person was there. Then she goes on about how we all need to be adults when the doors open. Ha. Some people just have no morals. Theyre the exact same people who will throw all the food from the dinner table into their bag to take home, even though theyre already full and leave nothing for the people behind them waiting. Scumbags like her just make me sick.

I picked up a 16GB white Air last night at the Colma Target. They had a ton in stock. I overhead a Target guy say they had 1000 iPads. They were in a tall cage. Max 2 per person. No retina minis. I waited an hour outside, then i think an hour once it opened. I think they had enough that I could've gotten one today instead.

I came in around 9:30, wait in line for 40min, and got the last 64gb wifi model. Guess I was kind of lucky:eek:

You drove recklessly to get to Target. "Was speeding here doimg 180 haha." You were likely criminally speeding.

The lady was selfish and inconsiderate for sure. She took advantage of a situation. Scumbag and immoral is a little strong. She didn't do anything dishonest.

Only one person committed a crime in this scenario.

You're right. They're not supposed to do a return and re-buy. My local target in NJ did it though. Her coworker said not to do it, but she was just being nice and did it anyway. They also had another one at the customer service desk and she asked if I wanted that one too. So, I bought another. It seems that some target's still have plenty of stock, even as of now. Just check their instore locator.

My understanding is that they will not let you return and repurchase your same iPad. It is worth a try, but they may require you to return your previous purchase and try to find a new one at the store.

had to run to target today. decided to go check electronics and low and behold there sits a 16gb ipad mini retina. Couldnt help myself, picked it up with my redcard for $403.85 after tax and then received a $75 gc for a total of $328.85. I have it all setup and have to say I really like it! I think I might put the 32gb air I got from the online sale on craigslist once it gets here. I figure if i can sell it for $550-575 new in the box And keep the $100gc it will make my mini investment even less.

Yes, I picked up one as well this afternoon. Turns out it showed up in this morning's Fedex shipment. That the $75 gift card deal applied was nice; I already had some other Target purchases planned for after the weekend. Also got the 20% off a shopping trip coupon, so it stretches the gift card a bit further.

Good job! I think Target purposely removed retina mini from inventory. However, with all the sales going on with the Air you may not be able to sell the Air for $550+ so may not be worth your time and security.

It's actually there if you know where to look... ;) but yes, they seem to have hidden it a little bit...

Hint: http://checkinventory.net
Item Numbers come from target.com item descriptions

mini1 16GB white wifi: 14213695
mini1 16GB gray wifi: 14972495
rMini 16GB white wifi: 14423839
rMini 16GB gray wifi: 14423840

Note that inventory updates can lag what's really there, but sometimes it is fairly up to date.

Its so hard to decide between the air and mini eh? Surprised it was like nothing for you.

I have the 16GB mini retina, 16GB Air and 32GB air and going back and fourth using the two 16s. Im either going with the 16GB mini or the 32GB air. Stil lcant decide. Im so stressed out over this.

lol! I diidnt think it would be easy but as soon as I opened it I remembered how much I loved the size of the original mini I had. I returned it because I disliked the display so much compared to the ipad 4 so I ended up with the 4. I always told myself I would own the mini once it had retina but then I saw the air and decided that was the way to go without ever seeing the new mini. As of right now, I am enjoying the mini so much I just dont see myself wanting the air. I change my mind pretty easily though.....lol

No need for stress. You're in holiday return period season, where most places give extra time to return stuff. Try them both and see which better fits your needs. The only risk (other than damaging one) is finding you love having both! :)

As for deciding stuff quickly, remember most such decisions are easily fixed if wrong, just a matter of money or time. ;) Trust your instincts, don't over analyze, make a choice and then look forward instead of back. Both are fine devices so either is going to be fine.

I am hoping, lol...Hopefully after today the large savings will be over. I have a case for it that was given as a gift that I am going to include and figured even with the best deal in my local area(which is $40 off) they would be looking at $590. I am figuring $550 with the case included and receipt included there are people who will jump. If not, no big deal....I will just return it.

Nice! I forgot but I also received that 20% coupon...I don't know what I will get yet but I am definitely going to put it and the gc to use next week....

I know what you mean, the feel of the mini cant be beat. Of course me using a 1st gen mini for a year supports that, but really its literally perfection to type on. Typing on the air in lanscape with split keyboard does take some getting used to thats forsure. Im basically not using the mini for now and using only the air and seeing how quickly i grasp onto the split keyboard. This right here, will be the deciding factor. If I dont, then ill go back to the mini.

I still think its complete nonsense that the air with split keyboard, get this...the keys are the exact same size as the mini with split board. WTF? Cause the air with split board, the keys are puny and too small. At the very least they should be larger than the minis.

The mini keyboard has the perfect size as far as key size goes.

Ive made pretty good progress typing on the air with split keyboard WITHOUT a case, but once i put a case on, it felt too big and heavy and really threw me off. Once I returned the case, the light weight of the air all came back. I think this is a tab that is best suited for super low profile cases or smart cover + invisible shield on the back.

True, ill take advantage of the extended time but i wont make it too long. Feel bit iffy with $1500 worth of ipads sitting in my room haha. Wanna pick up a case but waiting to make a decision first before buying one. Im basically going to give it at least another good week using the air and see how im adapting to the split keyboard. Im already very familar with the mini so i can put that one aside for now.

Actually couple times already, I was leaning towards the mini and about to close the deal but then couple factors came up that very well could affect my decision.

I will be getting a new phone next summer (not neccesarily iphone) but I want a 5" screen on the phone at the bare minimum. Im worried a 5" phone and 8" ipad might be too close in screen size and will overlap and perhaps the airs bigger screen would be more ideal. I say this because I just sold my 1st gen mini, and the one I choose from here, my goal is to keep and use for at least 2 years (3 would be even better!). I think the hardware in the air and rminis are future proof enough to last 3 years easy.

My 1st gen mini, i had for a year and already upgraded (which I generally dont do), but I knew that when I bought it that rmini is out the following year.

2) There is more value in the air (in my case $80 or so to go from the rmini to air), but again comfort and a users preference overide product value.

Closest target huge line and low stock 8:30 pm. At 12:30 am found the next closet target to have stock and bought 2 mini retina 16s, one for each kid and two 32 Airs- one for the wife and one for me. Mine had nicks all over the back like a half dozen. Did an even exchange for the nicked up one but that one's screen was so yellow that I exchanged today at 2:00 pm at a different target that still had stock. This one has a much better screen. Essentially it was buy three and get one almost for free. The retinas have some yellow but I haven't seen one without it yet and the kids are young and don't care. Picked up an Apple TV too.

Was just at my local Target an hour ago and there were three total 32GB iPad Airs. I decided against buying one because I'm at the point of hardly using my iPad 3rd gen. Thinking about selling it for a laptop.

FYI. I got shipping notice earlier this morning

Target has bad regular standard shipping. They are claiming December 9-11 delivery times.

I used target regular shipping for baby bottles once cause store was out. Literally took 8 days to get to house. And they use some ups third party postal service to deliver it also. So it's like ups starts it and the usps finishes the delivery.

Plan on it taking 6 business days.

Stopped by targ on my way home last night since I live right next store. No line outside so I walked in, they had 1 16gb left so I picked it up and a 32gb got the 5% and $200 gift cards. Great deal and was in and out in 15 mins

Sucks. Where are u located?

Which model were you looking for?

We're in California. We were looking for 32gb AT&T but we're told there was nothing available at all. Online status had it available at the store as of this morning. Something isn't right there.

We ended up buying through ShopDiscover (5% back) and with the online shopping reward, we get another 5% back for apple.com purchase. With those 2 plus $75 gift card, it ended up being a better deal for us than Target.

return and repurchase?

I was annoyed they wouldn't price match their own discount on an iPad I purchased three weeks ago. They weren't handling returns at all on Thursday, and I wasn't eager to buy a new iPad just to return one with all the people behind me in line.
I ended up returning my previously purchased iPad to Target on Friday and taking advantage of the offer at Best Buy.
