Ugh...enough with the "OMG it scratches!" comments...everyone knows this. It's just that with the black the contrast of the dark coating and light metal underneath makes the scratching waaay more noticeable and dramatic, thus cheapening the look quickly...iphone+case=happy customers who are concerned with scratching!
Although I have always gone with black, when I was at the AT&T store a couple hours ago, I was thinking about this thread, and I decided I would just skip any potential drama and get the white iPhone 5. It's actually really classy looking, it was a nice change from my all black collection. And I won't be stressing about possible damage to the anodized finish.
I had surgery a few years ago. The surgeon took a scalpel to my flesh. And guess what. It cut through it.
OMFG! I'm going to take that revelation viral.
Except that is quite possible and common to have a very durable anodized finish as has been pointed out multiple times in this thread. Of course the defenders chose to ignore that.
Oh anodizing specialist please share....you know colors and finishes affect hardness/durability of anodizing? Even a "hard anodized" part will scratch...it is STILL ALUMINUM. Guess what keys and coins are made of? Steel, brass, etc...all of which are harder than aluminum.
My friends 60,000 pound Mercedes also scratches if you take a key to it.
But a $100 Surefire flashlight doesn't. Go figure.
Yeah but it can't make a telephone call or stream you Netflixj/k
One person on another forum got straight to the matter and took keys and a SIM card tray pin to the back and edges of an in-store iPhone 5 unit with these results.
Vandal. Needs to be prosecuted.
