Really nice to see a return of true black for the iPhone color, away from the Spay Gray they've been doing for couple years now. So, which one are you getting and why?

Black looks stealthy to me like the iPhone 5 black.
Jet black looks like it may have a problem with grease/smears, fingerprints, dust etc. BUT it could also look amazing, hard to tell from pictures. Maybe like the iPhone 4/4s black.

I might get regular black since I always use a case anyways. Then again I saw a pretty neat clear case posted on another forums, so maybe I'll go for the Jet Black. Can't decide yet.

Leaning towards the black for now.....jetblack seems like it would show smudges too easy.

I switched to Silver/White after having Apple's first "black" on the iPhone 5. It was a terrible color and chipped. Their black since then is anything but.

These two new blacks are excellent. I am torn as I am leaning towards the Jet Black but curious just how bad it scratches/scuffs. Not worried about fingerprints at all. Hopefully they have a hands on and some blogger tests it.

Jet Black - 256 is where I'm headed.

Tough choice, I'm stuck also. I use my phones naked with a skinomi matteskin on the back so I guess the glossy one would be wasted for me anyway. I'll have to see more pictures. When does Apple have demos in store to fondle?

per apple website.

  1. Jet black is available in 128GB and 256GB models. The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone.

Black (matte version) for me.

Only need 32gb and wouldn't be able to stand the amount of finger prints and micro scratches that accumulate on the Jet Black model.

Yep! Like this ^

Even if you put it in a case there will be debris (dust, micro particles) that gets in between the case and your phone which will leave micro-scratches on your Jet Black iPhone when you take it out of the case every now and then.

Concerned about the slickness of the jet black since I normally go no case so may be going for matte black even though the jet black is dead sexy.

It even has a disclaimer:

I do love the look of the jet black, but it's very likely to show fingerprints and scratches very easily. I don't plan to use a case either.

I would really like to see them in person, but I feel like the jet black look will grow old fast. Just my opinion. The matte black is timeless :)

I'm going with either the (matte) black or gold. The jet black looks sexy, but I'm OCD with my phone's and that just won't work for me.
