Wow, this is so welcome. I've been a blackberry user on and off(off was because I broke the phones on different occasions and had to use a razr) for a little over 2 years... in that time, I had the original curve when it first came out, the 8310, another 8310, and finally my 8900. The only thing that stopped me from *FULLY* loving my mac was the lack of bb desktop manager for mac. My world is now at peace. And WTF is this tour? Looks like a dumbed down curve with a bold keypad for CDMA networks... Is this basically it?

It's basically the Bold on CDMA. Better everything than the Bold except the processor and screen size.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

I wonder if this will be free or if they will charge for it.

why would they charge for the program used to sync/repair their hardware.

god BB Manager is a pain in the butt when it comes to having to fix BB's

Sorry RIM, you missed the boat... perhaps if you had come out with this 5 years ago when people were asking for it, you'd have a better stake in the Mac demographic.

RIM provides the Windows version for free, so I'd think the Mac version would be free.

I like the Blackberry platform. The OS was made just for mobile devices. It's simple, clean, but functional. I have a Windows Mobile phone right now (had the original iPhone for a while, now have an iPod Touch) and it is just okay. But Blackberry has really impressed me with its newest OSes and devices.

I'll be buying a Storm off of eBay and unlocking it to AT&T b/c that is much cheaper than buying a new one from AT&T (ripoff IMO.) The new Curve is $200. And they don't even sell the old Curve 8300 anymore.

Ha, yah right. Some people want a phone. Not an ipod play toy with a built in phone.

I don't fully understand why people feel the need to resort to trolling when it comes to their choice of phone platform. Guess what folks -- nobody cares which phone you prefer! Nobody gives a darn about your preferences and personal opinions! Just make a choice based on what works best for you, and move on!

Also, lots of people still have BBs b/c they wanted cut/paste, mms, push email that works. I doubt there was a massive flood of BB users that switched when the 3Gs came. Dont forget, many dont like to txt on touch screens. I personally like how mine has no glass to break on it.

This would have been nice a while back...before I upgraded my blackberry for an iPhone ;)

No use for it now! :D

I thought we already had that on iPhone - except MMS which is coming this summer...

What i mean is, all that just came out. So all the people that wanted/needed it dont have a iPhone due to the fact that they didnt have any of those features till recently.

When there was just rumors that Apple was going to make a phone the number one reason I was excited about it was that you can sync it to your Mac . I can't believe BB didn't do this years ago.

I love macs, I love my Ipod touch, I hate every Iphone I have tried to use (my problems with it is the ATT network works like crap here, and the phone itself) and I love my curve so it's great that I don't have to use my pc to sync it. Also by the way I carry my Curve, and my Ipod Touch almost always together and I like them being seperate as opposed to being one device.

I am very happy about this. Very, very happy.

I have a BB Tour on Verizon and decent Mac syncing will be welcome. Pocket Mac doesn't work with any of the new BlackBerry devices and The Missing Sync lives up to its name.

Syncing OTA isn't an option for me, since my BB syncs OTA with the BES server/Exchange server at work, and Google Sync does nothing but duplicate and shuffle calendar entries. Also, since Gmail contacts has no support for first/last names (has but one unified Name field), you can just imagine what it does to my BlackBerry and Mac's Address Book contacts...

I would be more than happy to plug my BB into my Mac once a day if it will ensure a reliable sync & backup.

And the Tour is definitely not a Curve. It's more like a cross between a Bold and a Storm but with more RAM. 360x480 screen, 256MB of RAM, similar OS to the Storm optimized for trackball (not touch), and support for 3G (EDVO). So, newer OS than the Bold, more RAM and higher-res screen (though very slightly smaller). And it'll take microSD cards up to at least 32GB. Might take the upcoming 64GB cards. I've got 16GB in mine and it plays the same AAC and m4v files that my iPhone does, so all my iTunes music and movie's I've ripped down to the Mac play just fine on the Tour.

lol, nobody can agree. I'd call it Storm hardware in a bold/curve-hybrid body. I'm not a bb fan, but the tour looks like the nicest they've made yet. Too bad it doesn't have wifi. (side note: I know people hate AT&T, but vzn is far from some savior. They freakin' cripple their phones and insist on their awful content development model. There are no great options among US telecoms...)

The Storm is CDMA; ATT uses GSM. It won't work.

Been using a BB Pearl 8130 since Sept 08...Pocketmac is pure, system-hosing, garbage. Missing Sync is expensive, and nigh impossible to set up properly, although I do have it stable now...for how long is anyone's guess. God help you if you create a new contact on your BB though and try to sync it back. I just use my iPod Touch for Contacts now.

So yeah, count me in for this. Hopefully I can install software updates for my BB from the Mac, instead of Boot Camp...it's as lame as it sounds.

I would have just got an iPhone, but Canada is a whole different Apple when it comes to telecommunications...too much government, not nearly enough competition. But let's leave it there for now. :)

Seriously? If you are looking at an iPhone Rogers has cheaper plans in their lower market area (Saskatchewan and Manitoba) Bet you could get on an iPhone with a decent plan for 60-80 a month...

You don't know any more than I do. At best, you have anecdotal evidence, which is all I have. I just think the majority of mac-owning smartphone buyers would look at an iphone (or even a Pre, which strikes me as kind of mac-like in its appearance and ease of operation) over a bb.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Ahem...excuse me. I just needed to laugh at the guy who wrote that.

I would have to agree, I think there is HUGE demand for a mac/BB sync. Think about the largest market for smartphones... The Enterprise. What smartphone do they pick above all others? Blackberry. Now, how many of those people do you think use PCs at work and Macs at home? I would wager a good amount or at least close to the same percentages as apple holds market share.

I know when my company issues me a free blackberry I will ditch my iPhone in a second. I may like the iphone better, but I dont like it $70 a month better lol. But I will continue to use my Mac for sure. And lets not forget those that dont have/want att - again, if I didnt like att or they didnt fit my needs, I would be using the Bold/Tour as my second choice for a smartphone. The iphone is great, but it isnt the end all be all...

Well let me put it to you this way - you're apparently right insofar as RIM is now offering such a solution. But I'm apparently right insofar as they didn't see the need to do so until late 2009.

This is clearly anecdotal, but of all the mac users I know (and that's a lot), only one has a bb (and it's because it's work-issued and he's cheap). So that's why I'm surprised.
