Founded by a guy who uses and far prefers Android, and yet this is exclusively for iPhone?

I don’t know, I think I would rather buy accessories from influencers who actually use the products they create.
willing to bet they have some proto types for Android phone but the risk and cost to make this for Android is very high while iPhone they have to make fewer of them to test the POC and see how good the market is.

This is honestly an item that can translate quickly over any phone but for MVP and proving it works iPhone is simplely easier. You have 4-5 iPhone per year to make it modes for. Android you have 10-20 per year to hit the major numbers.

Wouldn't a separate detached Bluetooth keyboard be more useful for those who really want the tactile experience? I can see something slightly bigger than an Airpods case being useful....but directly coupled to my phone it would be super unwieldly.

EDIT: Did a quick search and found this.

You can't used a detached keyboard while walking etc.

Makes no sense for those of who use speech to text a lot of the time.
Also, is there anyone who wants to make their phone even bigger?!?

How does it handle umlauts?
I also need to type umlauts and found this video:

It's a bit…surprising that the announcement of this keyboard was featured on every blog that I follow, but there seems to be only this one lone YouTuber who has posted hands-on content 🤔

(Had to retype this comment on my Mac after my iPhone deleted it because of whatever cursed touchscreen gesture bug bit me today)

It'd be a nightmare as a small startup. So many form factors, and if you focus on just a popular flagship like a Galaxy you're still dramatically limiting your customer base. iPhone is the only one that makes sense to launch with.

There are two founders but I assume you are referring to Michael Fisher. His preferring Android phones doesn't mean he doesn't regularly use or have knowledge about iPhones especially as a tech gadget/smartphone reviewer.

Given the iPhone's significant market share (especially in the U.S.), it makes sense that they started with the iPhone first before potentially branching out to Android-based phone brands.

Sure, I'd like a bigger phone. Not by much, but just a little bigger would be nice. I don't care about pocket fit, I use a belt case. The Max sizes easily fit in my hand.

I'd never want this stupid thing, of course. It always amazes me how many people like WhackBerries, those things were AWFUL. The onscreen keyboard is a MASSIVE improvement over a physical keyboard for a phone. The only physical keyboards that were ever usable were the ones that slide out from the side, my fingers are just too big for those tiny buttons. And my hands aren't huge, they're actually smaller than the average American male hands.

Vegan leather, because calling it a mix of chemicals such as plastics doesn't sound as good.

This is similar to iPad users putting the iPad in a keyboard case.

Except the iPads larger screen plus keyboard makes it useful as a PC alternative; and in a keyboard case is convenient to carry around.

You can't used a detached keyboard while walking etc.

The bigger questions is why should you walk and type at the same time. Now, with a chorded keyboard...

I'd never want this stupid thing, of course.

Neither would I,

but with a little practice typing on BB was very quick and easy.

Not IMHO. You have to look at the keyboard while typing because it lacks tactile feedback on finger position; and is susceptible to reegestring touches when you don't want to type something or press a modifier key.

The only physical keyboards that were ever usable were the ones that slide out from the side, my fingers are just too big for those tiny buttons

For me, the best physical keyboard device was Palm's Treo which combined Palm's great OS with a very usable keyboard into a phone.

Proves there is a market for just about anything. Not for me, but if it makes your life better or easier, go for it.

I see a lot of tell me you never used a blackberry with out telling me you never used a blackberry.
Of all the things to not like a about the blackberry the keyboard was not one of them. It is still by far the best keyboard made for a phone out there. Now there are a lot of reason why you don't see a phycical keyboard and relay only on a touch screen keyboard but easy of use is not on the list of reasons.

In almost every metric the blackberry keyboard beats a touch screen keyboard when in actively using it. The one I can give the touch screen keyboard a real advatage is number pad as yeah that on the blackberry kind of sucked but in typing good god give me my blackberry keyboard.

Now will I buy this item. No because I dont type on my phone enough at one time to deal with the larger size of the phone during that time but still the keyboard assuming it is like the old blackberry keyboards would smash any touch screen keyboard out there

they need one that covers the virtual keyboard and then slides or flips out of the way when you don't need it.
