Nobody wants a Blackberry. You are 35 years too late. Even then they were annoying POS trying to use them and the people around them.

Honestly I might be able to get my dad who won't get go of his blackberry key2 to convert with this. at least then he'd have a more modern phone.

In case if you feel your new iPhone is not top heavy enough, we have a solution just for you by shifting the center of gravity even further upwards!

The center of gravity would shift downwards but the moment on the user's wrists would increase.

Supposedly, they thought of that and it has weights to balance it. Early YouTube reviews confirm this….

I want a manual handle to go over the electric window button in my car, candles to replace my LED light, and a dial for my telephone.

And a mangle to replace my washing machine.

And floppy disks…..

Will not be buying one but interesting to see this. Price could have been lower.

$160 BUCKS!!! Good luck with that. Even if I was remotely interested, I upgrade my phone annually, it's like throwing $160 into a bonfire.

Some people miss 60's and 70's songs, some, in Brazil, miss the monarchy, some miss slavery, some miss Nazifascism, some miss USSR and their communism, some miss religion, I miss mac OS Tiger...why others couldn't miss Blackberry?😛😆

Wonder how BlackBerry is feeling… 🤷🏻‍♂️

When a similar product ("Typo Keyboard Case") was offered for the iPhone in 2014, BlackBerry sued and the two companies eventually settled. Typo was no longer allowed to sell their product on mobile devices with a screen size less than 7.9 inches and that was the end of the business.

And upgrading your phone yearly is not?

Apparently I am one of the only people here that supports this. For those that like the on screen keyboard, great. Not everyone has great success with typing on it. I preordered mine, excited for it to arrive end of April beginning of May.

Wouldn't a separate detached Bluetooth keyboard be more useful for those who really want the tactile experience? I can see something slightly bigger than an Airpods case being useful....but directly coupled to my phone it would be super unwieldly.

EDIT: Did a quick search and found this.

Not really. It would be a separate device. And it would be really hard to hold both a phone and keyboard if it was detached. There isn't always a flat surface to sit the phone down and then sit a keyboard near it to type.

I’ve had an iPhone for years and don’t like the on screen keyboard. Did like BlackBerry’s keyboard. But not interested in making my phone bigger.

That would be good for the users with visual disabilities as they prefer the tactile keyboard over virtual ones.

While I agree in general principle, for some use cases it may be cost effective if a new feature meets a need. While I am usually on a 3 year cycle, the action button was enough to trigger an upgrade from the 14. After trade-in and discounts, the price to upgrade was small. others might want the 5x zoom or Dynamic Island. Each person has their own use case and wallet to consider.

Sure I get that.
It’s a matter of priority and/or cash flow.
Everyone has their own bonfire in that sense.
I just saw some irony in complaining about price while at the same time displaying a spending pattern that is not very frugal in itself.

Quite a lot of irony.

I view it as an example f prospect theory - the "loss" of $160 has a greater impact in one's decisons than spending $160 has in "gaining" a new phone; even though it's same amount of money.

In addition, the $160 for the phone is only a part of the price whereas you "lose" the whole purchase amount with he keyboard.

I thought Ryan Seacrest owned the patent on this.
I'm not sure if Seacrest actually had any meaningful patents on the idea... but his company, Typo, was basically sued out of existence by Blackberry because their product was too similar to the Blackberry design.

The same issue might or might not apply to this newer incarnation of the same idea... but it may also be a moot point at this juncture, since Blackberry made their last phone somewhere over two years ago. In fact, Blackberry is so much a thing of the past that there is now even a nostalgia powered movie about the company.

draft - They should bring this type of device to apple watch. You place apple watch inside and you've got a full qwerty keyboard on a lower-distraction device compared to iPhone

Still no love for SE users. Back in January the "different model? register interest" page had no option for SE, and as of today it still doesn't.

I also need to type umlauts and found this video:

It's a bit…surprising that the announcement of this keyboard was featured on every blog that I follow, but there seems to be only this one lone YouTuber who has posted hands-on content 🤔

(Had to retype this comment on my Mac after my iPhone deleted it because of whatever cursed touchscreen gesture bug bit me today)
No day 1 in interviews they said starting with iPhone and already working on versions for the top Android phones.
