Not great.

I got to play with the storm today and I was impressed at first. After playing with it for 5 minutes it was doing some really crazy stuff. The keyboard would not go away on the home screen and I tried to hide it but no luck. It's slow and the keyboard could be better. It definitely needs work and an OS update.

I've been deciding on the iPhone or Storm. As of now I will be getting the iPhone even though I hate AT&T... sacrifices...

I read that they will be updating the OS over the air during the first week of December. Maybe you can wait until then.

Playing with the Storm in the store really doesn't do it justice, especially with the current software on it. Once you get used to this phone, it's really great. It's a little buggy, and it's sluggish, but these are software issues that will be fixed soon. This is RIM's flagship device, it's not going to stay buggy for very long.

It's crippled by Verizon, is not conducive to fast typing (accurate, yes), and does not have Wi-Fi. I think I'll enjoy my iPhone 3G, with or without copy and paste.

How so? I can do a hell of a lot more with it than I could ever do with my iPhone. Verizon didn't cripple anything.

No Wi-Fi (Verizon decision to get you to use their data more), crippled the 3G WCDMA band so you can only use it with Verizon. Unlocking it won't do you much good, and how about traveling with it internationally and being able to put different SIM cards in? Oh wait.

The simple fact is that Verizon cripples phones. It's not RIM's fault, but they just do. Besides MMS, copy and paste, and SMS forwarding, I really don't see why anyone would get a Storm. MMS and SMS forwarding, in the real world (you know, not teen drama world), aren't really that important to the vast majority of users.

So here is the Storm vs. iPhone

+MMS
+SMS forwarding
+copy/paste
-Verizon
-Media Player software
-No WiFi
-Cripped wireless hardware chipsets
-Terrible international roaming capability
-Slow typing (due to the tactile keyboard)

Give me an iPhone.

This one can be debated, but I'll give it to you.

It's a Verizon phone, so... no. Doesn't count.

You can.

You provided one shaky fact to back this up. The Storm is simply not crippled in any meaningful way.

It should be:

+MMS
+SMS forwarding
+copy/paste
+Verizon
+No AT&T
+Cheaper cell plan
+Can be dropped and not destroyed
+No useless app store with 100+ versions of tic tac toe.
- Media Player software
- No Mac syncing sans for MissingSync
- Thicker
- No iTunes syncing.

I am still looking for the golden phone that has the features of the iPhone without the garbage network of AT&T.

After the first three your pro's make little or no sense:

Verizon (can be a blessing and a curse)
No at&t (see above)
Cheaper cell plan (how?)
Can be dropped and not destroyed (depends on how it's dropped)
No useless app store (are you kidding me?)

My cousin Got 1 for work because their company uses verizon an they require a blackberry. He was trying to get an iPhone but his company has not found a way to integrate it. Anyway after all of the rebates it was $15. He said it was not as good as the iPhone. I tryed it for about 30min and they need to work on it. The surepress screen Is really annoying when you start to type fast. And the OS is really sluggish. Other than that it is an ok phone. Not an iPhone killer by far but it is good for verizon users.

You can.

No, you can't. Verizon disabled the 3G hardware so that it only works on Verizon's frequencies, NOT the rest of the world's. Unlocking it therefore won't do much since it won't even work on international networks.

I just don't know how you can release a premium phone now days WITHOUT WIFI. We're not talking about copy/paste here, we're talking about WIFI. I know it has a removable battery, but WIFI is usually faster than 3G and much easier on the battery life.

The keyboard however, completely excludes it for me. It's too slow, period. Having something to click down takes longer.

It'll work just fine, just without 3G. And once again, it's a Verizon phone. If you're buying a phone primarily to use overseas, look somewhere else. Otherwise, who cares? You're picking nits.

After the first three your pro's make little or no sense:

I am sorry if you don't get it.

Verizon may be a blessing or a curse, much like AT&T but at least VZW's network won't be where your headaches are.

The iPhone is the only phone that I have ever seen be damaged from any kind of drop. I have slammed smart phones on the ground with little or no damage, and the most I have to do is put the battery back in and restart the device.

You have to go to the app store and point me where the useful power user apps are. Not the silly games and social networking apps. Or the ones that crash before you get any use out of them. How about an application that allows me to type a MS Word document from scratch, save it as a .doc file, then email it to someone or save it to the iPhone for later syncing....? How about an app that will let me create .txt. or .rtf files?

I am sure there are plenty of super monkey ball variations though...

I'll admit that Verizon's network is superior, but they are notorious for crippling devices that eat into their profit. That's why I say both are a blessing and a curse.

You're right about it being more fragile than other devices, but it's also better looking. :)

No document editing yet, but the app store provides me with Remote (which I love - controls my appletv and itunes on my computers), i.TV (great app), AOL and Pandora Radio (streaming audio through my car audio system while I drive), several gym apps which gives me suggested workout routines and even gives illustrations and videos on how to perform each exercise, VNC (another great one), shazam (hold it up to a song and it identifies it.

Come on, there's too many to name. Those were not games or social apps either. I'm not big on those myself.

No its just a fade like the Android or that one verizon had that I dont even remember Apple has a silver lining to its name that blackberry will never achieve!:apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:

i think the phone you are thinking of is the voyager. it is one of the popular gadgets at my school and they are as follows:

1. iPod Touch
2. xbox 360
3. iPod Nano
4. Voyager
5. Skullcandy headphones
