Bleeding light near rubber edges

Hehe. Checked yours yet..? :)
I have used it in the dark and not noticed that at least. If I actually look for it and see light coming out from around the casing then I am 100% exchanging it.

Not even cheap ass Windows PCs do that. There is a gap between the screen assembly and the rubber casing.

I know what backlight bleed is. And what the OP is experiencing is NOT backlight bleed.

C'mon man, this is going out of control! Turning it up all the way in a dark room is for checking purposes only...I don't recommend doing it in normal viewing.

I always work full brightness in dark rooms, can't stand the screen dimmed, hurts my eyes lol

Then yes. Everyone else is full of it and looking at the actual screen. That is 100% a defect and should be replaced.

I must be the unluckiest Mac user in the world then, having bought two in succession with the exact same 'defect'. Check yours (black screen, pitch black room, brightness all the way up), then get back to me – I think you might be in for a surprise.

Again you are talking about the wrong thing. Yes, pretty much every LCD display has some sort of backlight bleed. But again, that is not what this is.

MY previous Mac Book Pro never had this issue :p just saying ;) and also I checked Apple store and they down seem to have any of these issues.

C'mon man if you can only see it in a dark room while displaying a black screen at full brightness . . . why worry about it?

It is like turning the speakers up to full volume and expecting them not to distort.

The OP and I have only ever described it as what it is: light shining through the bezel. I'm not sure what your point is. But anyway, no, I didn't notice it until I looked for it, either. And now I know it's there, I honestly couldn't care less.

Loads of Mac book Pros from last year had keyboard issues so it can't have been a fault if so many had it...? Thats basically what you are saying.

Light bleed IS a fault lmao

Ummm Im playing a VERY low res video hence the pink/bad quality image there, the image u are seeing IS what I am seeing, and the white edges are clearly visible lol, how are you not seeing it XD?

OK...I now know what you're talking about...LOL.

Have it replaced...that will drive me crazy if it was mine, LOL! My current 2018 15 inch MBP does not have it.

That is crazy to me. There shouldn't be a gap between the bezel and the casing of a laptop. If you think that is okay on a $2,000+ machine then go ahead and enjoy it. I wouldn't even be okay with that on my wife's $300 Chromebook.

Yeah gonna get it all backed up and speak to Apple, see if they can order the new model to the store before returning (so I don't have to wait without a laptop while they rebuild the machine)...

Good luck, we are all counting on you
now remember, they do not like us!

What...? Im sorry but a £3000 laptop should NOT have light leaking out the edges between the screen and the rubber on bezel.
A 300¥ computer should not have problems

OK, enjoy playing the exchange game. Hope you enjoy your refurb!
Man... I just don't like people that think people should accept defects with their machines just because the Apple logo is on it. I bet if this guy was talking about a Windows laptop with the exact same thing you would be all like, "That's why I buy a Mac".

Just to clarify that I now know what the OP is concerned about and it's "light leaking" which is totally different from "backlight bleeding".

Having said that, yes, backlight bleeding can rear its ugly head when watching a movie even in a non pitch dark room. Most movies have black bars at the top and bottom of the screen and a flashlighting and backlight bleeding can be visible in a dark movie scene. Yes, dark scenes are rare but they are there to show the bleeding.

if a plastic bag had the apple logo, i expect that bag to last for 10 years, and any rip, tear or light seeping through the seems of that bag would startle me, then came 2015, and exclaimed in 2018.

Relax..? I have a faulty £3000 Laptop, that's not acceptable and I have every right to post about it and question if it's an isolated issue.
we feel bad for you, if this happened ta' me, id be irate! I'm mad at them and everything i had works!

just make sure you go to an apple store that sell computers, not fruit!

hope the comedy helps, because what else can we do!

I guess relaxing is not going to happen. No one is stopping you from posting.
Best of luck to you!

I am out of here.
