How did you test, exactly?

I think it's clear that he went to a pitch dark space and had the screen on to a bright setting. If you don't discover the leakage this way, then it's not there...simple as that.

That's how I tested mine...no leakage...nada! And these screens should not leak at all!

How else are you supposed to check?

Apples admitted its a fault and have ordered me a new laptop and given me £199 in gift cards as an apology, I doubt they would do all that if it was NOT a fault. lol.

Sorry, but that proves absolutely nothing. Let's just see whether your new one has the same leak…

Well no one else has the damn leak so it shouldn’t and if the new one does then I’ll get another replacement. Sheesh what’s your issue?

Now what to spend my free £199 on... hmmmm

I don’t have an issue. Your case just doesn’t prove anything, but you seem to think it does.

Lol whatever man you’re wasting your time. Apple has resolved the issue, there is a clear fault and it’s been acknowledged and had great experience with apples customer service :) so I’m happy.

how was the ale/pub date with Ms Bday girl?

apple care

I’m buying Apple care at end of first year, no point wasting a year of Apple care when you get a year (two actually) warranty.

Well, like I say, let’s see how the replacement is. If it has no leakage at all, I’ll be convinced, of course, and I’ll take your word for it since you know exactly what you’re looking for.

My screen does not have this issue, and it clearly appears to be a defect to me. I would never be able to unsee that, so you made the right decision in returning it, @Polaroid. I'm glad you'll be able to pick up something cool from Apple while you wait for your replacement.

Had the same issue with the 2017 15" MBP. It was so bad that I had to return it because it was visible even in daylight. Here's the picture that I sent to the shop. The next one had it too, but it was much less severe.

Grrrr, new £3000 machine has really bad light bleed along the rubber edges of the screen, omn the outside of the black bezel... anyone else experienced this? Kinda annoying as I can get replaced but its a customised machine and only just managed to get it all set up grrrrr.

I got my new 15" Macbook Pro yesterday and have the exact same issue. Everything else seems fine, so I'm debating whether to return it. It doesn't seem to be as bad as yours and it is only noticeable in complete darkness.

Well I don't have to return mine until the new one arrives (to transfer data across) so you could do a replacement and see how the new model is before returning.

You guys think i should replace this? 15“ MBP 2018

Trying to get compensation, they said they have authorisation limit of £80 but trying to get the Apple branded sleeve case lol

Wooo They offered me £199 Compensation so I can pick anything to that value off the Apple Store :D

How did you get compensation? Just checked and also got a screen with light bleed. Another laptop with issues. What a bummer.

Just rang them and when they sorted replacement told them I wanted compensation for time and hassle this has caused me. They only offered £50 but I kinda argued more lol the reps can only offer £80 max so would need a manager to do anything higher.

Yeah normal for a high end laptop to leak light out the edges, when apple HAS admitted it IS a fault. LOL.

One customer services rep thinking it’s a fault doesn’t make it so. Loads of people are also getting laptops exchanged for the crackling noise issue, when it’s pretty clear that its software-based. Presumably their reps are also ‘admitting’ it’s a fault, because Apple customer services are famously ill-advised when it comes to technicalities.

‘LOL’

Multiple reps I’ll add and you are suggesting this is a software bug lmfao?

IT IS A FAULT. For goodness sake lol, thanks for the laugh!
