On phone to Apple, they said they will arrange a replacement, it will be brand new and not a refurb.
.

You watch me get a light leak free machine but one with a dead pixel instead lol.
I'd like to think I do when spending £3000 on it.
[doublepost=1533659358][/doublepost]Oh cool so they deliver the new machine and I return the old one once I have set new one upsweet! Thats good.
I did the same after finally realizing what the OP was concerned about. LOL!Just for the sake of trying it, I went into a dark closet and checked my MacBook...nothing. Phew. Hope they replace it with one without a leak.
That's great indeed! Great service from a trillion dollar company hehe. Update us on the new machine! Good luck!Hopefully its an isolated incident then lol.
Well Apple were great, They have ordered my new machine, I pick that up in store and take home, they are supplying a cable to connect the two machines to transfer data and I return the old machine when the new ones all set up. Not bad tbh!
"bow out the candles, get me my MBP i paid for and meet me for a pint at macgillacuddys at 8, lady"The Apple support girl keeps apologising for being slow cause its her birthday... I don't care if its your birthday! Speed up love.
this mean you will need to download a flashlight app, ya knowHopefully its an isolated incident then lol.

You're referring to 2017 MBP's which do have backlight bleed problems. The 2018's are different!
I did all the testing on mine with a pure black screen with the old "iMac Yellow Test Website":
http://imac.squeaked.com/test.php
Also, I wouldn't use YouTube as a test for pure black.
Believe me, when I say there is no "perceivable" light bleed, there is none on mine and the one that it replaced with a slightly creaking chassis.
Again, mine does not exhibit any backlight issue...and again, do not generalize and be sure they all have it. I am trying to resolve my picture attaching issue here on Macrumors and I will show you mine.
I've had mine replaced and the first one I had did not exhibit any issues either...nor 3 of my friends'. Believe me, we work with video and photos and the first thing we check is the screen's consistency.
No, you use the correct verbiage. I don't know how else you could describe it, some people don't read closely enough and/or just kind of like going off topic.Maybe I used wrong terms but light is bleeding through the casing![]()
Your 2018 has some light bleeding... It has to because its an LCD screen. The severity is a different issue.
[doublepost=1533662052][/doublepost]
You clearly have no clue what you're talking about. Light bleeding is in every LCD device if you want to go looking for it.
Sorry but you cannot expect me to believe you if you generalize. Not all backlight bleed is visible to the naked eye...I am talking about backlight bleed that is visible and bothersome, nothing more, nothing less. I'm not gonna be scientific as you are suggesting me to be because we are not talking about exact specifics here. What's in the word "perceivable" do you not get?
My eyes (and all of my colleagues') are not seeing backlight bleed on my 2018 unit. My 2015, on the other hand a a slight bleed on the right top corner...it was subtle but it was still there and did bother me. But I did not want to play the lottery game then because most of the units I saw had worse.
Do not judge me to be wrong because I'm not! And as on owner of an OLED TV, LED TV, a photographer, a videographer and an avid movie viewer I do know what I'm talking about.

Omg you own an OLED tv? Congratulations? Problem is they have no backlight bleeding because it doesn’t have a backlight. You could be a photographer but who says you’re a good one ( or bad). Saying this on the internet means nothing. And you’re wrong 100%. Every screen that uses LCD ( or LED which is just LCD anyways ) will have some sort of backlight bleeding issues. Trust me 100% I’ll find some sort of it on your laptop I can guarantee that. If you aren’t going OCD on it and it’s not bad to begin with you won’t notice it but it’s there somewhere.
You really don't get it do you? I threw in an OLED in there to let you know my eyes know what to look for. You don't need to teach me how OLED's work.
Having said that, I will not debate with you on how to look for backlight bleeding because you seem to be set on what you believe. Have a nice day.
LOL...don't think that. Dead pixels are even rarer nowadays so I have a good feeling you will not get them on your replacement. The 2018 screens are better in quality than the previous years' so there's a good chance your replacement lottery has better odds.
In my experience, yes - dead pixels are very rare these days. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about dust particles. This brand new 2018 MacBook that I'm typing this on has a tiny dust particle trapped between the LCD display and the surface in the upper left corner. I know it's dust because I can put the very tip of the mouse pointer right underneath, focus my eyes on the pointer, then shift my head left and right while watching the particle move ever so slightly left and right in response due to the parallax while the pointer stays fixed. Oh well. That's my 3rd recent Apple product with this kind of flaw.
You can believe what you want but you’re wrong. You’re preaching wrong info
Again you are talking about the wrong thing. Yes, pretty much every LCD display has some sort of backlight bleed. But again, that is not what this is.
MY previous Mac Book Pro never had this issuejust saying
and also I checked Apple store and they down seem to have any of these issues.
Man, I’m taking about exactly what the OP is talking about. Why do you keep saying I’m talking about the wrong thing? I’m not talking about backlight bleed - I’m talking about the leakage of light around the bezel. Always have been.
Relax..? I have a faulty £3000 Laptop, that's not acceptable and I have every right to post about it and question if it's an isolated issue.
You don’t, though, as I fear you’ll find out when you get your replacement. I mean, you might get one with less of it, I guess, but I’ll bet it has it to some extent.
Just for the sake of trying it, I went into a dark closet and checked my MacBook...nothing. Phew. Hope they replace your with one without a leak.
