I have a AW4, and dont miss AOD because i feel that is a privacy invasion when i get pop ups etc, i dont want my colleagues etc to see what is shown there.

This concern is unfounded/moot. Notifications/popups don't display until you wake the watch. You'll hear/feel the alert, but nothing is shown.

If you've left a text or popup displaying and the watch sleeps, the screen is blurred/unreadable with the AOD time displayed over it.

Sounds/looks like a "pass". Since AW4, there's nothing game changing...
Well, when you get covid-19, and wonder if you need to go to hospital, or can cure it at home,  Watch 6 measures your blood oxygen level, and if it's below 92%, you are recommended to go to hospital. I doubt anybody who got covid-19 would describe this as "nothing game changing".

"no killer since AW4"

are you ****ing kidding me lol

the AW has seen more relevant improvement than the iPhone or iPad IMO, and not everyone likes the AirPods or god forbid HomePod mini

AW is an uncontested leader in the non-******* wearable market. It is what the iPod was, albeit Apple's lead and YOY improvement is exaggerated here.

Mind you I'm of the position the "Apple will be remembered for healthcare" statement is laughably ********, because most overestimate the plausible interventions availablr from Muh Big Data procured from myriad sensors embedded everywhere. They tend to dramatically underestimate the influence of innate behavior, and the heterogeneity therein.

Still, the AW blood oxygen sensor is probably *precise* enough to warrant it's use as an early-stage or late-stage indicator for some left-tailed acute illness, I'm sure a nonzero sum of people have had reductions in permanent sequalae, to say the least, by seeking medical attention for serious COVID cases. I happen to know one.

Ah, the 7 watch. So it has Siri, right?

"Siri, call me an ambulance."

"Okay, Ambulance, what can I do for you?"

(Later, after surviving something or other, and upgrading to AW 6 with all the health features...)

"Siri, what time is it?"

"It's time to call you an ambulance."

Seriously, where the **** is my DICK TRACY FACETIME? Dick upgraded his radio's watch to video about a century ago.
I want my DT FaceTime. And without an Phone umbilical, please.

THAT's worth a few hundred, along with the WTO biomonitors.

Best, as always,
Loren

Mac Pro 2013 6-core: it does 4K video editing and fast rendering because Adobe supports the GPU's.
Mac Pro 2009 8-core: it does my taxes and plays Ticket To Ride under final upgrade to El Capitan.
iPhone 6- it makes phone calls, sends text, FaceTime, plays music, has Compass/Level, and Stocks monitor apps.
13" MacBook Pro 2012- the last with a disk drive, the first with a Thunderbolt port, beautiful transitional machine.

Just curious, why did you find it worth it to spend all that money just on a ceramic case?
Because it looks sleek and the durability is top-notch. Still 2 years of warranty with Apple Care+, so whenever I break it, I will receive a new one. I don't like stainless steel and the darker colors that much and the only option to go with a white one was to get White Ceramic, and I found a great deal here and bought it for just 800 Eur.

Stop complaining everybody. Thanks to our demanding attitudes Apple has to launch new iPhones, Watches and iPads every year.

Remember when they took 3 years to develop an Mac OS X release? But now we want MORE, MORE, MORE. FASTER, FASTER, FASTER.

We're never satisfied. Even if Apple would launch an Apple Watch that could fly us to the moon, you guys would complain wHy iT dOeSn'T fLy uS tO mArS.
What are you on about, Apple are a company who manufacture products to make a profit. They determine their own release cycles.

Went from a series 0 to series 4 and at this rate I’ll go from a series 4 to series 8 and I’m perfectly fine with that.

If you made the watch any thinner, you'll loose the crown.. Plus, i reckon there is always a trade-off between features and how thin you can make something

The crown is a solution in search of a problem, as proven by the fact that they keep changing what it does over the years.

Much like no-one has ever said "I want to wear glasses" or a man has ever said "I wish my TV was smaller" Apple is never going to fund an advert saying "We listened and we now have a fatter watch with twice the battery"

Glucose monitor integrated into an Apple Watch could be a game changer for millions of diabetics with relatively soft symptoms who need just checking regularly their blood sugar and control their diet.

A body temperature meter together with the rest of the sensors could allow for more accurate diagnostics.

Bigger curved display that goes around your wrist could open the door for entirely new use cases.

Create wrist bands that house external batteries, additional sensors, camera module, and so forth, could allow customizing the watch to your specific needs (fitness, communications, leisure, general health monitoring, etc).

These are just few ideas...
None of things (other than the glucose sensor) will ever, ever happen. Bet your house on that. They’re utterly the opposite of what the Watch is about, which is, primarily, being a Watch - not a jigsaw piece in a stack of attachments. Curved screen around the wrist? Nope. Not ever.

Remind me what all these changes were?

I was thinking the same thing. The side button is what has mainly had changes. It started off being used to start conversations and messages, I think. I have to really think back to the first Apple Watch. It later became a way to access apps stored in memory primarily.

I’m sad that I can’t upgrade my S4 to the S7, since I refuse to update my 12 PM to iOS 15 until I’m forced to. Guess I have to keep my S4 for a little longer

Well, I think you will be in for quite the pleasant surprise! I upgraded from series 4 to series 6, and processor and battery life put my series 4 to shame!

That surprises me. Did you get the same size for the series 6? Are you using the AOD? My series 5 has had very noticeably worse battery life than my series 4. I’ve read of lots of people saying similar of the series 6.

This would be nice – I average three hours of "active workouts" per day which is a bit of a battery drain on my S4, but I keep it in Silent + Theater Mode all day every day so I get a full day's worth out of it without a problem...

And I'm definitely looking to incorporate more "power features" of the watch into my life (via Shortcuts / Automation) so the processor bump will be nice! :)

...plus I might "be dumb" and get the :apple:Watch Edition if they have one that catches my eye...

You're right, I did get the larger size, but the battery life is still MUCH longer. I had AOD activated, but shut it off when i ralized i don't need it. I'll still turn it on before i go for a workout, but since i use the Nike Run Club app for running (my main excersize) that doesn't do much, as there is no AOD support for the app yet Wish they would roll that out already!
