The combination of the new camera with the retina makes for pictorial heaven.

I read a few pages of book that was in my dropbox and was amazed. Now iBooks just needs to keep getting those titles in the store.

This is the best piece of equipment I have ever owned. And I'm just 24 hours in.

The display, camera system, and pure speed increase make this phone worth it all to upgrade from previous models.

Imagine those updating from a 3G, they are going to see a HUGE performance increase. A lot of my games anymore don't even have a load time... Peggle just loads to the Start Screen. I was amazed.

Alright I get it, I'll figure it out myself. :D

Biff, it's not a function -- it's just the new high resolution display. You don't turn it on, it's always "on." I guess unless you've owned another Apple device with a standard resolution, you might not see the difference.

For me, it wasn't one of the big selling points -- I didn't really have an issue with the old resolutions. However, I was surprised when I saw it; it looks like a well printed sticker that somebody placed on the phone -- it's that crisp.

It does look amazing. I love it.

I spent an hour last night just staring at the detail in the Apple app icons. Looking at Safari, Photos, Contacts, and Notes icons, the detail is incredible and so tiny. Web looks great too.

Every time i've texted someone, i just have to stare at the keyboard and the letters.

I too am totally blown away.

I wonder if/when this technology will be implemented in televisions... it's amazing how crisp even standard-def content looks on this device compared to the 2G/3G/3GS. Album artwork is insane... truly photographic.

I upgraded from a 3G too. The speed increase is insane. My 3G was dog slow compared to this.

I would have to wait, wait, wait for everything on my 3G. Now on my 4 everyone is pretty much instant.

I was in awe seeing the screen fir the first time. It was, and still is, spectacular. I messed around with a 2nd Generation iPod touch last night for "comparison" andtbe difference was unreal. I never realized how many pixels were visible in iPod's.

Thanks Limey, appreciate your response.

As am I, it's even more impressive than I expected. When my wife saw the home screen for the first time she thought that it was just a printed sample insert laying over the screen because it was so clear. You know like they include in some of the cases to display how the phone would look with the case around it.

That's exactly how it looked to me at first lol. Simply amazing I'd say, I love it!

Yea i love it also but I'm pissed I have a dead pixel almost right in the center. And now that I've seen it it's driving me insane. They should replace it for that won't they?

I thought the novelty of the beautiful screen would have worn off 36 hours later, but my jaw still drops every time I use the phone.

I agree that it's the first thing I tell people about when they ask what's better about the new phone. I honestly didn't expect too - it was the 1 thing I really thought was just Apple marketing hype and I wouldn't be that bothered with it. I didn't see how it could be any better than the 3G S display. How wrong I was - try putting both phones onto the same screen, with writing (say, the Settings screen) and put them side by side. Night and day.

As an aside, doesn't Air Video convert at a max of 640 x 480? I wonder if they'll update it to take advantage of the iPhone 4 display?

Im blown away as well. I have a friend with a Droid which has the second highest resolution on a phone, but it still doesn't compare. Side by side with my old 3G is just no comparison. The 3G just looks blurry compared to the iPhone 4.

Someone mentioned not having to zoom to read web pages or forums. Actually, I'm starting to get annoyed at sites that don't have a link to their non-mobile versions now since they look better than mobile versions on this screen. This whole post was written on my iPhone 4 without any of the headaches of waiting or zooming like the 3G had.

I normally go with a film over the screen for fingerprints, but I am so torn this time as the screen is amazing.

Yes the fingerprints are there when the screen is off and annoying but can barely see them when on and the screen is amazing.

Might decide against it this version.

I put an InvisibleSHIELD screen protector on the front and back of mine, and I'd suggest it to anyone. You can't even tell it's there. Definitely doesn't mess up the beautiful screen. If anything I'd be more likely to put a screen protector on so the glass doesn't get scratched.

You're telling me. The speed increase from the 3G is incredible. It's wonderful to use my phone without having to wait for it to think.

Ok this a retarded question, but I'll ask anyways. How the hell do you use Retina, I thought it was tap once and hold it. Do I need to activate something. Flame away if you feel like it. :D

You use your retina(s) by opening your eyes. ;)

Yeah, I gotta say... when I watched they keynote I was like "yeah yeah better resolution, ok. Cool." But after having it in my hands and using it, I'm in awe. Sometimes I even find myself just staring at the text after I've read a SMS. It's just THAT good.

Now. I'm waiting for the retina displays on their laptops!

It's actually a little worrying - after using the iPhone 4, I can't help but notice how pixelated other screens are in comparison. Even looking at my Macbook screen now I can't help but compare in the back of my mind. But the difference is especially noticeable compared to the iPhone 3G - I always thought it was a fairly decent screen and never had an issue with it, but looking at it now the screen I can't help but notice how pixelated it is...

After having used the phone for a day, I opened Rock Band, which hasn't been updated to reflect the higher res yet. I immediately noticed the difference, it's utterly astounding.

Retina Display - Amazing

I don't know if it is because I am coming from a 2-year-old iPhone 3G, but the Retina display is amazing. The clarity on my phone is top notch. Everything looks clearer, but especially words. Going from reading in iBooks for the past few weeks on my 3G to doing it on the iPhone 4 is such a big change.

Anybody else enjoying this as one of the best new changes?

Agree. From 3G to this display on the 4 is awesome. However, I am pretty used to it and it just seems normal to me now. But looking at older iPhones just seems like crap now.
