Yes, it is amazing.

Like going from standard TV to HDTV.

The best way for me to see the clarity is when I open the Photo app and compare the same pictures with the old screen vs new one. I would pinch the iP4 to the max and I see no pixelation. Background faces look clearer. The sharpness shows more details. When I look at the pix from my iPod touch which has the same warmer colors (a bit more saturated) as my 4, it looks like one pixelated POS!

The Retina Display alone is why I have a hard time going back to the older screens. This alone is worth the admission. It makes your pictures the most beautiful and vivid than you previously ever seen them. Even my laptop is not that sharp. The Retina Display can make some of your P&S shots look like it got taken from a DSLR. Pinch the pictures to the highest and you will truly appreciate it.

I hate that I can't even look at other screens anymore without thinking I'm going blind.

same here...if I look at older iPhone screens now it feels like there is something wrong with my eyes, like I cant quite focus. The retina display is amazing.

actual pixels

I would much rather read 500 threads about how great the Retina display is, then one more thread on the Antenna issue. You don't get many happy people posting here, we need more of this, not less.

I didn't take that many photos with my 3G, but I am taking a lot more with the iPhone 4. I haven't messed around with the video too much yet, but I can't wait to see how that turns out.

The videos turn out really really nice. I've been taking quite a few still photos and a few videos of my kids and they all turn out really nice, even in low light settings now that camera has flash.

If the only thing they improved on the iPhone was the retina display, I would have bought. This was the single most reason for me to upgrade.

I browse a lot of web sites (mostly message boards) on my iphone and it makes it so much easier to read the small text.

Like others have said, looking at an older iphone now looks so cruddy.

I love the retina display.

I also love the way people are slagging others off over nothing.

Keep it going, this is entertaining.

:D

Sync your photos for both an older iPhone/iPod touch and iPhone 4. Keep it at the same brightness. Mine was at 50% default with auto-brightness off. Make sure the photos were taken at higher the iP4's screen resolution of 960x640 (like 2-3MP). I have a photo album at VGA, and it doesn't show quite the same details when I zoom it to the max. And then pinch it all the way. No pixelation at full zoom. Comparisons between the old vs new is like night and day.

It makes me want to sell my iPod touch right away or throw it against the wall like a caveman because on how prehistoric it looks now overnight. Even my laptop computer I have the urge to sell. I can never go back to those crappier looking screens again. The Retina Display enhances your picture viewing experience. You would ask yourself, "Who knew my camera took such great photos?" Because even some people's computer screens when they uploaded them on their hard drive looks like crap with its lack of pixel density.

The Retina Display is the most expensive part of the iPhone 4. Well worth the admission.

If it weren't for the antenna issue I would have not cancelled by IP4 order. I really really wanted the retina display. :(

So you cancelled because of a problem that probably wouldn't even have been a problem in your normal every day use?

Silly.

I had my iPhone 4 a week and was pretty impressed with the display's quality, then for some reason I put on my reading glasses that I've had for a year, but don't wear because I don't really need them. I was amazed. I suppose I need to wear glasses. :(
As for the comments about duplicate posts/threads, the most often duplicated post is the one from Search Nazis that say "you should have searched before you posted". I don't know why they bother. I quite often see a thread that interests me, click on it and all you get is the search first thing. If it really bothers you, ignore it, no one would read or reply and it would disappear. Reply and it keeps it up a t the top.
Sorry for rant. Maybe I'm just annoyed that my iPhone made me confront my middle age...

We'll see what AAPL does to fix the problem. I understand a lot of 3GS users are holding off upgrading because of the same thing. But I really do start drooling over the retina display!

I also like the way it makes phone calls and runs my apps.

See how I just listed obvious things about the iPhone that Apple has already mentioned 3402402 times?

I can't say for certain as I've sold my previous 2 iPhones (2G and 3G) and I never had a 3GS, but didn't the first 3 iPhones do this as well? Maybe someone who has one at the moment could check and post back? Am also fairly certain that previous iPhones had no retina displays.

Is it just me, or does EVERY thread become some sort of little war instead of just staying on topic?

I'm relatively new here. Has it always been this way? Or is this a recent development?

I'll be off soon if it doesn't stop soon...

seems to me like old mac (pre iPhone) vs new mac (post iPhone)

I never really thought about the retina display much until I saw post like yours on here. It makes me more excited to get my iPhone. If only it would hurry up and ship.

I'm just saying it's practically a non issue in reality, just after personally using it and having 100% success rate on all my phone calls I can't comprehend someone not buying this phone because of the antenna. Just my opinion.
