I installed the driver on my MBP 15" and no problems whatsoever - works great!

System Prefs for New Mighty Mouse?

Hello all, I just got a new bluetooth Mighty Mouse at my work, and for some reason I can't see any of the Mighty Mouse options in the Keyboard & Mouse system preferences. It just looks like the regular, old one (with Tracking and Scrolling speeds, etc.). Does anyone know how to get these to show up? I don't know if the driver that came with it was installed, but shouldn't it work without? Thanks in advance...

Anyone else have an inconsistent right click? Sometimes the right click works and sometimes not.

With the wireless one?... Not again...
Actually I just noticed that a right click only works if your finger is not resting on the left side of the mouse.

That's ok if you've already bought one and got the relevant manual, but I would have thought that Apple could have indicated this on their web site.

The Mighty Mouse Tech Spec web page indicates that the System Requirements are Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later.

Thanks for the info though.;)
I guess it's a 'to get full functionality out of this mouse' type thing. But yeah, I totally agree with you.

Yep. That's how it's meant to work so all's good :)

I just got mine from my local apple store today. :) I'm pretty excited about it cuz the only reason I didn't buy the mighty mouse when it first came out was its wire.

Now people mentioned about not having education discount in apple online store, but I did get $7 off! At first the guy at the register was hesitating when he couldn't pull any discount info. So he ask the lady next to him if there is really no education discount for the mouse. She then suggest that he could enter the info manually.

A wireless laser mouse for $62 is not bad at all.

I'm gonna open the box now...

just got mine today, long story short, even though I left a signed note saying leave the darn thing, they left me a UPS infonotice right below my note. So after driving 30 minutes away to get it, its all set up and working. I love it!!!! Its really cool not having the red light. Also a neat tidbit of info, the green status light on the bottom automatically turns off when the mouse is put on a surface, I guess to extend battery life.

I love it!!!

and the one battery features pretty cool, although I like the weight of two batteries more, I like it heavier for some reason

ooo ooo ooo, has anyone tried out the zoom feature!! Its awesome!! Go to mouse preferences (after installing software from cd) at the bottom it has zoom with scroll ball while holding... pretty cool

I like heavy mice as well, I can't used wired mice anymore - they're too light and I can't control them properly.

so i bought a new MBP today along with a new wireless MM and i hate the thing. its so ****ing slow, and way too heavy. before today i used to have a logitech mx518 and loved it because it was so sensitive, which is my biggest problem with the new wireless MM.

i did install the driver with the mouse, has anyone else found that it works better without the driver? i am going to take this pos back tomorrow if i can't figure out what the issue is.

thx.

Wireless MM in Boot Camp

In case anybody still wants to know, I got my bluetooth mighty mouse to pair on my MacBook with Windows XP under boot camp. I opened the bluetooth control pane, added the mouse as a new device (shut the mouse off first and turn it back on) and then chose the pairing option saying it doesn't require a passkey. Right clicking and vertical scrolling work (no horizontal).

umm mine came with those. and they are light, but i just think the mouse is too heavy. but my biggest issue is still the slowness. its not laggy at all, its just that the mouse is unresponsive even at the fastest settings.

How much do you think this will cost? I would love to get one for my new laptop but I think it could be priced a little too high for a lot of us.

Good news, long time coming! lol

I think is a bit expensive.

You should take back your macbook pro as well. ;-) then wait a couple weeks.

Quick Review

I just got my Mighty Mouse today, but I'm impressed. I used the old Apple Bluetooth mouse with my Powerbook G4 15" and liked it, but it seemed like it was a little jerky at anything but a slower setting. The new wireless Mighty Mouse is MUCH smoother (just like other Laser mice I've used) and I love that it doesn't have a blinking light on the bottom! In a pinch I've used my wireless mouse to go through presentations with clients as I stand at the end of the table... now I can do it without worrying about covering the red LED!

The included software works great for me. The scroll functions only work correctly if you install the driver -- otherwise the scroll bar is very, very jumpy.

I love the mouse ball zoom feature! That was something I used all the time with key shortcuts and it is SO much easier this way!

Overall, I'm not a huge fan of the Mighty Mouse design -- I think this is a case of "over thinking" a product. Even though it is nice to have a smooth top shell, I would prefer simply having two buttons. Also, the side grips are very hard to press and make my hand hurt... not that I would use them anyway.

Well, there's my thoughts. I'm still very pleased with my purchase -- but understand that the design flaws of the Mighty Mouse (right click more pain than it should be, etc.) are still part of the wireless Mighty Mouse...
