problem

my bluetooth mighty mouse pairs with my macbook but the cursor barely moves, tons of lag on slowest and fastest settings - clearly a problem. the problem also exists on the windows xp side of the macbook - very strange.

my original bluetooth apple mouse works fine with the macbook and the bluetooth mighty mouse works great on a friend's intel imac!

i installed the new apple mouse software on both intel machines - if anyone else is experiencing a similar problem, please chime in!

if it's a driver problem, i hope apple posts an update soon. i was looking forward to messing around with the new mouse tonight, back to the regular wireless mouse for now...

it feels lighter compared to the original, though i could be imagining things

You said you had the same problem on the win xp side of your macbook. How did you get it to work on the win xp side?!? Im so lost!

Lighter? That can only be good news!

My original Apple BT mouse was way too heavy - nothing more than a carpal tunnel magnet looking for a lawyer - a big deal since the mouse's "foot" consisted of a continuous band around the base (which, sadly, is still the case) which causes WAY too much friction on most mouse pads.

But again, the fact that it's lighter, and can be used with only one battery, is very good news, indeed!

Shall purchase tomorrow if there's any left in stock at any of the Mac Stores here in town; stand by for report...

Meh. I've never been a fan of Apple's one button design. Now that they have, for the most part, removed that obstacle on to the only other gripe; and that is its shape. I enjoy the ergonomic designs on MS's and Logitech's mice more then Apple's flat design. *shrugs* to each their own.

I wish I had been able to find one at mine. Good luck in your search!

Ironically, I was actually getting my first use of a regular Mighty Mouse (somehow I hadn't really used one yet). I had just finished telling my girlfriend that I had been waiting on a wireless version while I opened Safari. The Apple Store popped up and it was right there on the main page. It was pretty funny. I went to one of the sales people and they thought I was making it up. I was like, I just saw it two seconds ago on the online Apple Store. I just ended up coming home and ordering it since they didn't have any :( I wish I had gotten the edu discount like some of you though...although it wouldn't have been that much of a difference.

got mine today, working on both OS X & XP

I got mine today. Working beautifully on both Powerbook G4 and Thinkpad T41p. I struggled a bit on windows side (obviously), but finally got it working with built-in bluetooth on thinkpad. I had to enter a passkey to pair though. After googling I found out the default passkey is 0000. So just incase anyone wants to set it up on windows, try that passkey to pair.

I've been waiting all year, as soon as I heard I ordered it. It's been shipped so I hope I get it tomorrow :D

They may drop the price by then as well!

Yeah, and Hell can freeze. They have never dropped price on generic accessories because accessories do not get media coverage and it is therefore not worth it for Apple.

Well I'm happy to pay the price for an Apple mouse. I have always liked their design (I had a single click BT mouse) and prefer it over any other. So I guess given that then I have no other choice but pay for it :)

Got mine the day it came out, and haved loved it, was a little worried when I got to the store that night didnt see any but it was there, the last one pushed back on the shelf...

I used mine all night last night, really responsive. I went with one battery though for the weight issue's. Two batteries made it slight heavier but def not as heavy as the orignal pro BT mouse.

I would take it back and just get a new one with every new product a few dudds are in the pack..

After my bad experience with a wired Mighty Mouse i am going to see what people think of these a few months down the line before i even consider getting one one of these. I should have taken the advice to keep away from the wired MM that i read on these boards before i bought one but i did not.
The scroll ball on the wired MM is quite flawed in design.
It is not like I need a mouse anyway right now because I am perfectly happy with my Kensington Studio graphite mouse that i own.

It is a bit strange to see so many so happy about this MM given the poor performance of the wired MM. Who knows though maybe the Bluetooth MM will perform better.

so i just got my wireless mighty mouse yesterday... i felt like such a goob, considering how excited i was to get a mouse. i think it's just because ever since they released the wired mighty mouse, i told people "i'll just wait until the wireless one comes out", and then they did :p

it works great! it seems to connect via bluetooth faster than the other wireless mouse did... maybe i'm just imagining things. scroll wheel is great, haven't had any issues with left/right clicking... pretty sweet :D

Wrong. Page 4 of the intruction manual

10.4.6 or higher - full functionality - Enable or disable scrolling, assign primary and secondary buttons, activate Expose, display dashboard, open spotlight, enable screen zoom, switch and open applications

10.4.3 Optional scrolling, assign primary/secondary buttons, activate expose, display dash, open Spot, switch apps, open apps

10.3.9 Assign primary/secndary, activate expose, Display dash in 10.4 +

10.3.8 and earlier Use as a multibutton scrolling mouse

And to the other person it DOES work in windows, as for 10.3.8

That's ok if you've already bought one and got the relevant manual, but I would have thought that Apple could have indicated this on their web site.

The Mighty Mouse Tech Spec web page indicates that the System Requirements are Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later.

Thanks for the info though.;)

I understood that before I ordered mine. Whether that's because of the website or because I already knew that I cannot say.

Generally peripherals, especially mice, work that way. Usually special features of mice beyond the first two buttons are only supported by the required OS. The two buttons and scrolling should always work on any system you can connect the mouse to.

I bought one for work and one for home for my 17" MacBook Pro.

I paired the one at work without installing the supplied driver, and the speed was great — even better than my Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse.

I subsequently installed the driver (which required a reboot) and paired the one at home. The tracking is HORRIBLE — you can barely tell the Fast and Slow settings. The Microsoft and original WIreless Mouse work great.

I'm going to bring the home one to work and see how they perform. I am hoping that one is just defective...if not, it's going to be returned.

I called AppleCare to find out how to uninstall the Mighty Mouse driver. They didn't know, but does anyone know how to uninstall something like this?

Ordered mine 7am UK time yesterday. Arrived 10am this morning. Nice service Apple.

Swapped it for my Mighty Mouse on my intel iMac after installing the software. Paired up no problem. It is slightly heavier than the wired MM but I quite like. Feels incredibly smooth to me in operation, no lag whatsoever. I don't seem to be selecting Expose as much either (a problem I had with my MM).

Anyway, really like this mouse.

As an aside, I bought a wired MM as soon as they came out. I have a definite feeling it has been improved though, as the one that came with my iMac a fortnight ago just felt "better".

Cheers

Del

So perhaps not installing the driver is the way to go?
