Can't really feel bad for being the best, LOL!

I would love to know your definition of "the best" is it having the most championships? is it having a perfect record in the championship? what constitutes being the best in your mind?

I'd say having the most wins out of any team in the league constitutes being the "best." Until another team comes around and then the cycle begins again.

Granted I'm not a baseball expert in any way - but if someone is using 'secret' hand signals, and someone else figures them out, what exactly is the unfair part? I guess they could blindfold everyone involved, otherwise isn't there always a chance someone will figure out the hand signals and talk about them to someone else?

Exactly. The blame here goes on the Yankees, for being chumps and letting the Red Sox figure out their signals. Hey, that's part of the game!

The issue is that teams are in dugouts on opposite sides of the field, it’s not to easy figuring out hand signals from across the field.

The rule is specifically about using electronic equipment to figure out signs. If you have a camera with a good zoom hooked up to a display, it’s easier to figure out signals.

So!? If they discovered your signals, blame yourselves! I don't understand why the pitcher, catcher, the manager and other coaches just don't have ear buds running a telecom between all of them, to chat live during a game. And when you talk to your team during the game, cover your mouth.

For the record, I've been a Red Sox fan since before the Mookie Ball. They got caught, and they will have some punishment. I am 100% certain they are not alone in trying to get a leg up on the competition.

Mostly MLB will want to hush this up.

Publicity for a rivalry that transcends baseball and reaches out to those who maybe haven't purchased a ticket to see a game this year. This kind of stunt is free advertising for MLB, regardless of the involvement of an Apple Watch.

This sort of behaviour, why it's just not cricket.

I'm sure cricket has never had any scandals like baseball has... oh, wait... a quick search for "cheating at cricket" reveals a number of juicy bits about that gentlemanly sport.

Here's one such bit:

Yes, esp. this year with these two teams likely meeting in the first round of the playoffs. It just adds more spark to the rivalry. I wouldn't be too shocked if this was all engineered. I mean stealing a few pitches is not exactly the same as juicing up or the pitcher hiding a little vasoline inside his cap. Yet this has made national news. C'mon. It's inside baseball if this happened the first week of the season. I'm not excusing the Sox but the timing is convenient for MLB.

How is he not? Products are manufactured in China and he imports illegal immigrants to the USA to work cheaper. Building a wall doesn't begin to address the problem. CEOs like Cook belong in prison for treason.

Manufacturing in China isn't "stealing American jobs". If it is stealing American jobs, then it is also stealing British jobs, French jobs, German jobs, Canadian jobs, Mexican jobs, Bangladeshi jobs, Thai jobs and so on.

And "importing illegal immigrants to the USA to work cheaper"? If you have any evidence of that, then you should contact the right authorities in your country. But most likely you just read some stuff on the internet that you didn't understand properly.

On a side note the Boston fanbase has to be the most arrogant and at the same time sensitive and insecure fan base ever, its quite the phenomenon

not sensitive at all, nor arrogant. I know as well as any sports fan that this run will not last. Enjoying it and being confident in your teams dominance isn't arrogance when its true. However, I want to make sure people know what they are talking about in regards to "spygate". Facts are important. I also believe I said they were rightfully, albeit excessively, penalized. I hope the red sox are also penalized and whoever else may be doing the same thing electronically (not sure about allegations against the Yankees, but wouldn't doubt any team would be looking for a leg up).

That could be true, but it is absolutely unprovable. What I know, for my years living here, is that those are real fans. Not like other teams from other cities where tourist are the ones filling up the stadiums the 2 or 3 times per year that those are actually half filled up.

How do they know they were sending pitching information and not texts to their wives?

The funny thing is that the use of the electronic device to transmit the stolen signs makes it largely useless. There simply isn’t enough time to observe, transmit, receive and use the information. The old Milwaukee Brewers’ scheme, where Bernie Brewer watched the catcher through binoculars from above the center field stands and made hand signals to the batter while wearing white gloves was a far most effective method.

I hope the Sox win the Series. I can't handle them being caught by the Yankees. Aw BWWWWWAAAHHH.

Correcting my earlier comment that this wouldn’t work. The New York Times has a new article this afternoon describing how this worked, and I was wrong. They were using video observation to figure out the signals used whenever there were runners on base, passing that information to the dugout via Apple Watch so that they could tell runners on second what to look for. They were not passing along signs on a pitch by pitch basis. That said, the use of the watch really didn’t add much to the process, since they could just as easily have called someone in the clubhouse with the info and had them pass it along. It’s still against the rules, and would have been even without the use of the Apple Watch (because of the use of video). That said, it sounds like every team tries to steal signs one way or another. This is an apparently novel spin on the idea, but nothing really different in overall result from what other teams have done.
