Well... I preordered the 7 Plus 128GB in Matte Black as soon as it became live. Was told September 16th delivery. That day came and went and when I called, they said "Oh its Oct 3rd now". Then yesterday got a message saying "Oh its Oct 17th now". Totally fed up I went to the local O2 store and had a hold of a 7 Plus and you know what? It is just not worth the upgrade from a 6s Plus. The dual camera isn't that much of a benefit if you're serious about photography. I don't plan on swimming with my phone and the button is kind of..meh.

I got the 6s Plus 128gb for less a month , with 6 times the amount of data allowance and for half the upfront cost. Oh and in 12 months I can upgrade with no penalty for the iPhone 7s/8 next year.

I think the sheer hype of the phone is silly as its really not that great in my opinion.

Matt

I went with a 6S Plus a couple weeks before the Apple event.

My reasons? I bought the 6 Plus on preorder day at 3am, all I could get without a long wait was a 16GB model. That phone's lack of storage drove me nuts, seriously it was a daily irritation!

I walked into the store, got $305 for that phone, threw down a couple hundred more & walked out with a 64GB 6S Plus in rose gold. I love my new phone, it feels snappier than my old 6 Plus, the screen is lush & no waiting!

I paid off enough of the phone that I can upgrade to a 7 Plus when more become available or just wait for iPhone 8.

Enjoy your new phone

Lol, exploding phones, can't bring them on a plane? I can just imagine what the Samsung fanboys here (again, don't know why they aren't on a Samsung forum) would be posting if that were Apple instead of the fanboys Samsung. They'd NEVER let it go.

You got me, buddy. Touche!

Still think it's sad that I'm having a hard time justifying an upgrade to the 7 Plus from my 6 Plus.

My phone is 2 years old and still meets my needs for my day to day with business and personal matters.

With the launch I think it's really showing that a lot of technology is 'capped out' and manufacturers are just coming out with minimal changes and calling it the 'biggest and best ever.'

Hopefully the update in 2017 proves me wrong.

yes, developers will not develop game just for iphone 7 + NOW. but future games will. games one year from now will be more demanding, just like they always have in the last 10 years. I don't pay $800 for a phone just for the current moment. I plan to use it for at least 2 years, and I want it to perform and handle any apps 2 years later.

Remember iphone 6 with ios 8 two years ago? it was fast and smooth when it was released but one year later, it was laggy with ios 9.

another example is ipad air 2 which was released 2 years ago with 3GB of RAM. it can still perform well today even though it has no hardware updates for two years.

but iphone 6+ and ipad air were lacking ram already when they were released. There were already then a huge questionmark "why only 1gb?" Both were fixed, 6s+ got 2gb ram and air2 too.

2gig or 3gig. Games? probably not... it is no economical for devs at this point when apple is still selling devices under 3gig ram. year or two is still very short time for big changes in apple world and devs would loose alot of potential customers by creating an app working only with 3gb ram.

Im not going to argue that more isnt better and future proof but knowing apple there wouldnt be anything needing the extra ram in two years.

now it doesn't but future apps are more demanding.

again, not everyone carries a heavy DSLR daily.

yes what? System haptics will be in iphone 8, 9 , and 10, which you will upgrade to eventually. so your point is? stay with iphone 6s forever?

iphone 7 plus can last 1 more hour than iphone 6s plus. so battery usage is not impacted.

yeah, you tell people that when you sell your iphone 6s next year. then they call you a scammer.
[doublepost=1474934074][/doublepost]

so you rather have appearance than substance? you rather have a computer with a nice-looking case even though it runs on old Pentium II with 2 GB of RAM?
edit: I got your sarcasm.

On the same boat as the OP. We are both in the UK as we are both on 02 Network. Currently have an iPhone 6S Plus. Went in to the store to upgrade on Friday and the cost of the iPhone 7+ 256GB MB upfront was £59.99, plus £95.00 per month for unlimited calls, texts and 30GB of data but I could upgrade a year early.

https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/phones/apple/iphone-7-plus/#contractType=paymonthly

The cost alone for an upgrade that I do not feel is that MUCH of an upgrade made that decision for me. Will keep the 6S - let the contract rollover till next year and get the 7S/8

The prices in the UK at the moment are mad and as I said above the iPhone 7 does not offer that much of an upgrade over what I already have. Unlimited calls, text, 50GB per month of data, free European data roaming - £38 per month. No brainer in my eyes.

I replaced both of my iP6 with iP7. The 7 was a much more satisfying user experience. The TouchID sensor was much more accurate (I have a couple of messed up fingertips from power tool accidents) and massively faster. The whole phone itself is faster, and feels far more solid than the 6. If they hadn't had serious IC noise under loads like HD recording, I would have kept them. There wasn't anything specific that was compelling about the 6 -> 7 upgrade, but overall it was a big step up. I'm back to my 2x iP6 and will probably keep them until next fall.

On the other hand, if my phones had been the 6S, I probably would not have been interested in upgrading.

I can agree with that. I can't agree with people saying its not an upgrade or a downgrade.....

Honestly anyone saying it's a downgrade has to be trolling.

iPhone 7 is a great device And will only get better as the A10 gets used to its full benefit.

Whether or not it's worth an upgrade to an iPhone 6s is up to the certain person. To me it wasn't and I'm an upgrade every year guy, but the 7 just didn't do it for me this year... to you it's a different story...

before i preordered a jet black 7+, i had a 6s.

that 6s went to my wife. the 7+ i preordered has a november shipping date.

in the meanwhile, i was given a 6s+ at work as well as a note 7 (non explosive one).

the 6s+ has got ios 10 on it and beside the bokeh photos, which the note 7 already does a form of (selective focus).

i'm not in a rush to get the 7+ any more.

What is your response to that?

I answered your questions already but you did not try to understand. Let me explain in details.

for safari, 2GB is more than enough. so Safari is not a RAM-demanding app. so it makes no difference. if you want to see if 3GB is important, try apps like games or video/photo editing.

the concept is the same on PC. 4GB is fairly enough for Safari on PC/Mac. Safari performance is the same running on 4GB PC vs 8GB PC. but if you use photoshop or any video editing software or games, then your RAM is heavily taxed. Photoshop runs faster on 8GB PC than on 4GB PC.

Apple added 3GB for a reason, that is used for camera real-time processing (portrait mode) which depends heavily on RAM. Future third-party app can use this RAM if they need to.

I am not saying iphone 6s plus should be upraded to 7. it is your choice. my point is that iphone 7 has advantages over iphone 6/6s, listed in my previous post.
