They do turn off your sim but all you gotta do is call AT&T back and tell them you didn't know that the phone was stolen and put the sim in another phone and they will enable your sim again.
Its only a few minute phone call.

This is assuming it isn't merely an empty threat, a last ditch effort to get the OP to cave in.

Oh I'm pretty sure they are done trying its been a week now no contact. Phone still checks fine I just don't want my sim blocked. I'm with straight talk. If the phone for some reason gets blacklisted its hitting eBay.

both the seller and the person who contacted me were female. the "owner" sounds older like 40s. seller was 20s
nope i havent posted on facebook in months. all that can be seen on it is my picture and city, no job info anything (i deactivated it temporarly). they said they knew my job but im really just contracted out and spend time at tons of different places.

Well, this is my take on the situation.

Maybe a secondary account holder sold it to you without permission? Either way, they decided they want more money. Either they're going to get it out of you, or they're going to claim it as lost/stolen on insurance and get the money that way. Or if they're smart, they're going to get more money from you, then still claim it on insurance and get more money that way, and still screw you over.

I'd cover your bases with AT&T and let them know that you have bought the phone legally and that they may be in a situation where somebody is trying to make a false insurance claim.
