That won't happen Android manufacturers don't remove features just for the sake of removing them.

There are already Android phones without headphone jack....[/QUOTE]

I believe one big, large, no... Absolutely GIANT issue is going to be if Apple does what Apple normally does, be bloody difficult and uses a Lightening connector whilst the rest of the entire world, over the next few years changes over to USB C.
All other brand's of all computing/media devices could end up with USB C headphone sockets and only Apple will stand alone, with it's lightning connector.

A long term plan that's bound to be doomed to failure eventually.

No doubt! If true, this is one of the most stupid decisions Apple has made.
I felt resistance to this at first but it's happening so let's all embrace it or not buy the iphone7.

I've been using a small bt receiver for the last few weeks to test the wireless thing out and I have to say I love it.

It's really liberating to have freedom to leave my phone alone ( whilst it's charging ) or to look at it without the cord being in the way.

I get through several sets of earphones a year as the cords tangle and break.

The bt earphones may be more expensive but they will last longer as they won't have the load on the strain reliefs

So I'm looking forward to it and I was thinking Apple had made a huge mistake

These are everywhere

What a lie. No one stops anyone from using bluetooth headphones today. There's no need to remove audio jack for that.

A bunch of slow-mo shots of 'trendy' teens and 20-somethings enjoying life, thanks to their new bluetooth headphones.

I had never seen that ad before but at the same time it seemed incredibly unoriginal and cliche, and boring.

I for one am not happy about the lack of a headphone jack. See, I hate 'lightning' cables in general. Only the Apple ones work reasonably - even third party ones from quality brands like Belkin soon become unreliable. This mean I'm forever using a pipe-cleaner and contact spray in my lightning ports to get it to charge or avoid 'This Accessory is Not...' messages. Maybe my phone is in a more dusty environment but I never have issues with the headphone port or micro USB devices.

I can see myself no longer using the iPhone for headphone-based music.

Totally agree it's such a flaky connection and my phone is always going buzz buzz buzz as it charges and has an intermittent connection - yes I've Ben testing a small bt receiver as I think the lightening earphones will cripple my phone.

I'm won over by the wireless earphone experience though and won't go back to tethered

Sorry Apple, not interested. No headphone jack is quite simply a deal breaker for me. I have just bought the largest capacity 6s which should keep me going for a couple more years.

Waterproof is great, but not at the expense of decent headphones. Anybody who believes "digital" ear pods will sound better than premium analogue headphones is a moron (but then I guess it is aimed at people who think Beats make good headphones and Taylor Swift makes good music.)

I'll stick with my Sennheisers and use a slightly older phone thanks.

And the reality is they're probably bought by geeky, 40-something suburban dads wishing they were 20 again!

Any proof or just scaremongering?

It kills sperm, but I don't see how that affects headphones.

Who needs facts when you have fear, though?

Just don't use your BT headphones on your crotch. Solved problem.

A quick 3 second search on Google will give you plenty of proof. Don't be lazy, do your own research. Or, just continue with your head in the sand.

Bluetooth kills sperm... FACT. Don't be lazy, do your own research.

Bluetooth is now being linked to numerous ailments.Do your own DAMN research, don't be obtuse or lazy. A quick 3 second Google search revealed plenty of "proof".

Since the "proof" of my claims is so easily available (with a quick 3 second Google search) I have to believe you are just trolling. You're stirring the pot and probably won't take the time to search and learn for yourself. You'll continue to scoff at me and people like me. You'll continue to use these unsafe technologies and then wonder why you can't get your woman pregnant.

Male fertility rates in America are dropping quickly. Again, I'm not fear mongering, I'm simply stating FACTS that a quick Google search will reveal. I have no motive other than to protect myself and my family from immoral corporations and there quest for money and power.

A corporation's charter requires, by law, an increase in profits. its foolish to believe that an entity who's only goal is profit and power, actually cares about the health of the people that buy their products. Apple won't "care" about Bluetooth health issue until WE stand up and demand that they care.

Again, DO YOUR OWN DAMN RESEARCH! Stop being obtuse and stop being lazy.

Do the research, it's all on Google. There are hundreds of reports, articles and studies that prove that Bluetooth, microwave radiation is harmful. With the amount of harm directly related to exposure time. I don't know about you but I don't listen to headphones in quick 2 minute bursts. I listen to headphones for 8-12 hours a day so my exposure time is very large. I think it's safe to assume that other peoples usage patterns are similar to mine which means similar exposure times. Don't believe me, do your own research and educate yourself! Good grief!

Additionally, YouTube has a plethora of videos that test and document the severity of Bluetooth radiation. Again, since the evidence is so readily available I have to believe that people like you are just trolling.

Okay, here's what I found:

Here's a simple YouTube video that clearly documents the dangers of Bluetooth radiation. You're welcome.

Another thing to charge, adding unnecessary complexity to a function that currently works 100% of the time, and pissing off 85% of headphone buyers = better customer experience.

Can't wait for years and years of sarcastic "it just works" comments on this forum and apple's community discussions when people get various errors with their bluetooth and lightning headphones. If only you can just have a simple analog connection that outputs perfect audio every time with no fuss...

Yeah. And the "iOS 10.X.X update broke my audio playback" messages followed by the "have you updated the latest Firmware of your Shure Headphones" suggestions ;)

Quit lying to yourself. Nothing is gained by removing the headphone jack. All it does is force people to spend more money, carry a lightning to 3.5mm adapter, and constantly charge your headphones. So don't forget the charger and cable for that. All for what now you say? Better user experience how?

Yeah I have QC15's but I need in ears sadly.

In ears are good for ENT doctors not for the people -- at least you should clean them carefully and from time to time with alcohol or any other suitable disinfectant.

No difference whatsoever Wireless will never be as good if you care about sound. Wireless does suck if you care about sound and aren't willing to make any sacrifice in terms of sound. I do not want "good enough sound" and will not settle. You have different priorities and that is perfectly fine. If you are willing to sacrifice quality of sound for convenience. Just don't try and claim the sound quality is better than a good set of cans with a dac/amp.

Yes quality can be measured in many ways. The fact today is you will not achieve as good a sound from a wireless solution. Many people who stream 256 kbps tracks on Apples crappy ear pods won't care one bit though and that is perfectly fine.

I will believe it when I hear it:cool:. Maybe Apple will shock me and not use a bluetooth based solution that is better than wired(they won't). Even then having to charge and longevity of bluetooth cans is another issue for me on top of lesser sound quality.

Ah yes i figured you would bring that up. Samsung made that boneheaded decision to remove the slot and after consumer backlash they put it back in next iteration. They won't make that mistake again when it comes to headphones. People have power of wallets to influence corporations. Android manufacturers will not take that risk of taking away a feature because of the backlash that will ensue from the userbase.

I never claimed that. I just said it wasn't bad. You made this go from "you don't care about sound quality" to "wired will always be better". Two different claims. Two different arguments.

Whether you can blast your sperm away ifs irrelevant. I don't plan on having my headphones on my crotch. Also, the whole "do your own research" is the lazy thing. You made a claim and kept throwing "it kills sperm" into this. Good for you. You have one study that shows it kills sperm.

Due to the extremely low output power, the radio wave exposure from Bluetooth devices is far below the established limits.

He's wearing them wrong.

If he's wearing it in his crotch, sure.

Lossless for listening is useless
It certainly is if you don't care or have the equipment necessary to enjoy it

Edit: and it's definitely useless for listening if you're using Bluetooth headphones

"plays on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on for up to six hours. LOLOLOLOL!

I stay away from the earbuds because I have noticed that I lost some of my hearing from using the ear buds too much.
