This still blows my mind.
I completely understand, as atszyman said, the idea that at some point you have to commit to rebuilding. At some point you need to let the aging boss spend a little less time with a helmet and a little more time with a clipboard yelling at the new guy. But it's moronic to assume that Green Bay is at that point.
He is one of the all-time great quarterbacks. Not just an all star, an all-time great all star. He holds the record for most consecutive starts for any quarterback in history with 253. Oh, and that's 93 more than the next closest guy and, oh, all 253 of them were with the Packers.
And last season certainly doesn't provide any reason to let him go. The Packers go 13-3, their season ending in the NFC Championship game, in overtime, to the eventual Super Bowl champions.
So Green Bay wants to go another direction. They want to take the ball out of the hands of a legend who led their team to the cusp of the Super Bowl as recently as last season, who has played every game of his storied career there, to start Aaron Rodgers ... who has never started an NFL game in his two and a half years in the NFL after a mediocre college career.
Simply asinine. The resentful jerk part of me hopes this bites them in the arse. Hard.

That was what I was wondering. But I guess they're somewhat related. Perhaps the thread should be retitled.why the hell was my thread merged with this one mods??? they are completely different event...
They didn't make it with Farve last year, what makes you think they would of done it this year.My feelings too.
I'd love to see a Packers vs Jets superbowl game this year, just so Favre can stick it to them some more. Unfortunately the Packers aren't going to make it without Favre.

Farve's best shot was last year. He is not getting any younger. How many good Packer teams has Farve been on and how many rings did he get.Talent. Skill. One more run. The Giants, had a date with destiny I guess, and no one could stop them. This year coulda been the dream year for Packers fans.
Something to buy today. I think he should take the number 38 for his age.![]()
I'm going off of what a radio guy said and I took his side on this matter.
If Brett had unretired himself 2 weeks after retiring, the Packers would have no problem.
But, Brett waited until Preseason to make his comeback. Why should they juggle the franchise around him?
The trade was strange, and I hope for the best out of him with the Jets.
its on espn right now. how can I get some jets tickets???
having grown up in wisconsin watching brett play for the packers, this just seems surreal. This is going to be worse than watching Montana play for the chiefs. my only solace is that perhaps Ill be able to see him play a few times out here on the right coast.
Reminds me of Montana's move to KC at the end of his career. Why don't these guys know when to call it quits?![]()
I think Favre played excellent last season, just one off game where it mattered.
