Ugh, the Apple community is going to start getting picked on for these gaudy items. Just handing the fandroids mud to sling our way.

This Apple watch thing is bizzaroworld. Please stop Apple. You're losing your marbles.

Apple isn't doing this. I'm not sure they can do anything about it, except perhaps voiding warranty. Brings into mind the massive iPhone 6 scalpers outside the Hong Kong store who buy up everything in the store and sell it for $100 higher right outside the store.

Actually there is an interesting detail here, they are offering a gold apple watch with a row of diamonds for $7500. Which indicates that the price of the edition will probably be closer to $5k than $10k (based on wild estimates flying around).

I agree that this maybe the most interesting thing about the article. If they are planning on selling a 24K version with diamonds for $7500.00, it would seem that the edition version of the watch will have to come in significantly lower than that or apple risks not selling very many.

I really like the looks of the apple edition version and have been hoping that we are going to have a situation similar to the Ipad. Many "tech journalists" thought they were going to be in the $1000+ range and then Apple announces pricing starting at $500.00 and the place went nuts.

I think in this case the sport will start at $349.00, the standard edition will start at $499.00 and the edition will start at $999.00. I hope that they announce the pricing soon, so I know how much I need to save up.

It isn't a valid comparison because it sounds like they are taking the standard stainless steel bodied :apple:Watch, and plating it in gold or platinum. The :apple:Watch Edition has a solid 18K gold case.

The Lux Watch line stands out thanks to its meticulous production processes. Each piece is disassembled inside Brikk's state-of-the-art laboratory in Los Angeles by a team of skilled engineers. They are hand polished, then plated with five layers of diverse metals before their final plating in either two layers of gold or platinum.

So do you buy the watch through them, or do you buy the watch through apple and then they mod it?

How much will it be worth in 1 year or even 5 years? Doesn't sound like a good investment (and a watch at that price should be an investment)

You're probably able to switch the face, this way you'll always have an updated watch.

Oh god this "premium" watch thing is just ridiculous.

Wait, I thought Vertu's phones ran Android? And Samsung partnered with Swarovski. http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EF-ON910RBEGWW

There have always been these companies that will bling out your iPhone. Why is anyone shocked they'd bring that to the Watch. And who cares how other people spend their money?

At that price, I'd expect it to outperform my Casio. Got it when I was 8 and was second hand when it was given to me. Never even had to change the battery. It's been a total trooper over the years, surviving everything I've been through.

The strap of mine broke and it fell off on a roller coaster after I had owned it for ~6 years.

Anyways, my first thought is that people buying the $70K model could have also bought a Model S with that money. I would have definitely gotten the Model S.

This diamond-encrusted gold Edition Apple Watch makes me so angry that I just have to post a comment on MacRumors about it.

Seriously? One would think there are more important things to be angry about.

What's wild is that some people with more money than brains will fall for this scam. those tiny pinhead size diamonds are near worthless individually.

Please tell me you're 5. Or this is sarcasm.

Apple Watch's success (in just about every way imaginable) will be the envy of the entire industry. What seems cheesy to you now (these features I'm speaking about) will become increasingly expected of watches over time.

The Apple Watch will sell millions on its opening weekend and over 20 million in its first year. In the following years its growth will be massive. Beyond sales, it will receive rave reviews by both tech critics and respected watch enthusiasts. It will be considered a great fxxxing watch-- but some people just don't have the imagination to grasp paradigm shifts before they happen.

When you weigh out what is more important, a long lasting battery with traditional functionality, or a (subjectively) beautiful complex computer on your wrist-- I'm betting on the future-- It's going to be no contest.

If that opinion makes me 5 years old, then okay, I'm 5. But I'm not the one that's going to look like an fool in retrospect.

Diamonds in general are a scam. Resale value: pennies on the dollar. I speak from experience unfortunately... The only exception being very large or unique stones...

At least with gold the value is essentially convertible to cash by weight...

Speaking of which I can't wait for the stories of people selling the gold apple watch for scrap gold...

All models are not horrible, but the price seems high. Then again, I never paid more than $300 for a watch. Now that I don't wear one, I am still wondering if Apple can convince me to both wear a watch and spend more on one than I ever have.

I think you need to check that price in the headline again.

their pricing is interesting - for their "basic" version its about $8,000 - if they're buying the watch edition and tricking it out that means the WE from Apple won't be $10,000 - or - are they buying the cheap one and gold plating it - or - do they know something about the WE pricing the rest of the world doesn't ....

Far too many assumptions. Apple made a product that you decide you can't live without, but pointless trying to validate it.

Truth is, it will look not less ugly than most of the other "Diamond-Studded" ****. of its buyers. Even more, it will seamlessly integrate take a proud place along the rest.

Douche chills...
