1Password freezes and crashes almost immediately

Then it is gonna take them about a year or so to update it to ios8 with touch ID support. True story from ios7 support.

We're looking into it. I don't have any further information at this point as all of our developers are in San Francisco right now. As with all beta software releases from Apple it's a game of making sure it's actually a bug with us and not with iOS 8. Once we know for sure we'll either report to Apple or fix it in 1Password. It's just too early to tell for sure. Either way, we are aware of the issue.

Anytime.

Just be aware that this is sort of a special case. I tend to try to do my best to keep up with what is going on here on MacRumors. Not all developers will. If you are having problems you should contact the developer directly, otherwise you may never hear from them on this site. It's a lot of work to monitor our own support services and other public forums all the time. The same is likely very true for other developers.

Also, as with all beta software there are going to be problems. I know you're all smart people but this always needs to be stated I think. During the iOS 8 beta period expect applications to be broken and perhaps don't expect many of them to be fixed until just before release of iOS 8. This happens every year.

Personally, I bought an iPod Touch to use for testing purposes. I likely won't install the beta on my iPhone, and will end up waiting for release. It's just too risky to not be able to have access to things when I need them on the run. This is just my strategy, I'm throwing it out there for others to see and perhaps adjust for their own needs.

If anyone has questions about 1Password and iOS 8, you're welcome to contact me via PM. There is only so much I can say as we do not comment about future plans but I am happy to help if it's within my ability to do so.

Danske Bank app doesnt play well, the number keyboard when logging in doesnt properly show on screen, makes ios 8 a no go for me :(

Whatsapp

After I deleted everything (iCloud Backup and all the chats) and disabled the iCloud backup, whatsapp worked really well for some time.
But then it started again to crash when clicking on certain conversations. I can delete this specific conversation and start it from scratch and it works again for some time, but it eventually will crash again and again.

Anybody else experiencing this behaviour?

About to install ios8 now....when it installs, I should opt to do the iCloud back up when it turns on right, as I would usually, or do I restore with my iTunes hard copy back up?

When installing whatsapp, you shouldn't use any kind of backup and disable it. Then it should work normally. But for me it didn't after some time as you read ;)

Sucks, whatsapp seems to be by far the largest issue preventing people from going ahead with the install of ios8...do betas get updated quickly by apple, and do developers of apps like whatsapp update for iOS8 during the developer preview, or all wait for the first day of public updates in the fall?

Yeah, same for me. Everything else worked pretty well.
iOS betas can be expected every 2 weeks (sometimes 1 week, sometimes 3). Last year some developers actually fixed some bugs during beta phase of their apps, but the whatsapp devs are probably the laziest ever. They needed many many weeks to adapt to 4 inch display or iOS 7. One can only hope, that some of facebooks update habits get carried over to whatsapp...

I guess we will see an update in two weeks from apple, if they are fast maybe already next week.

Whatsapp is another story. They seem to take a long chill before the release a new update. Best example is iOS 7. The update for it came around 6 months after the first beta and far after the public release. I don´t think they will be much faster this time. Hopefully these are all bugs that are caused by apple.

Well said. This should be a sticky.

They emailed me back and were kind of jerks about it. I think they are a little butt hurt over the Messages stuff. They said not to contact them about iOS 8, and that was pretty much it.

typical. well no matter, if they want to hold on to this attitude, i'm pretty sure most people will drop whatsapp, especially since there're so many other apps available now cross-platform, so their loss
