then you should upgrade..problem solved

LOL! While I would like the new iPad 2's features, I think that, even though my current one is slower, it's still a great product. For me, 4.3 didn't give me the speed bump I was hoping for. However, I love the rotation switch's return.

i agree...original iPad is great...but I'm surprised you did not get the speed bump with 4.3.

I did upgrade from 3.2 and the surfing speed is noticeable faster.

I'm not sure how you plan to be more productive on a competitors tablet...

the xoom is not user upgradable, and has less apps... so really it is faaar more locked down + no word proccessing suite as of yet, like the iPad has in iWork.

the iPad had the same prices last year, when there were no competition, so your last point is irrelevant too.

as for USB slots, why on earth would you want them???

cameras are the only thing that Apple maybe could have implemented, but tbh that doesn't bother too many people, cant think that too many people would be taking pictures on it, but I digress...

also cheers for making me laugh, mentioning C2D chips on an iPad LMFAO.

i only mentioned the core 2 duo cpu because you said that there weren't any dual core cpu's available when the ipad launched. i didn't say that it would have been the right choice. of course it's not!

you missing the point. i was not referring to hardware, but to the os and the app store.

well, what can you possibly do with a usb port? let me think……
charging maybe? data transfer and exchange with other devices without having the need of itunes? oh, i forgot, you don't have access to the file system on the ipad.

as for the apps, there will be a lot of them in a few months.
i'm not saying that the xoom is perfect. in fact i think it's too expensive to be competitive. in the tablet market apple is king, no doubt about it. but for how long?

i don't have the intention to bash on apple or the ipad. i think it's a wonderful device, but it doesn't suit me.

HOLY ****...

Has anyone seen this? I did NOT see this coming. What the hell was all the noise about the iPad 2 being anemic compared to the Xoom spec-wise? The iPad 2 absolutely SLAUGHTERS the Xoom in anything graphics related, according to these benchmarks. Even accounting for the Xoom's 25% higher pixel count and how that impacts performance, the difference is still absolutely massive. The iPad wipes the floor with the Xoom, while being in a completely difference universe compared to the 1st gen iPad. This is what is being called a 'modest' upgrade?

It doesn't suit you, fine, but bringing in ridiculous arguments doesn't help.
-charging?? So Apple should add have 2 ports for charging, when the 30pin charges just fine? Data exchange? There's a ton of apps that lets you establish a wireless connection bw the ipad and any device with wifi. Filesystem? It's clear that most people couldnt care less about a filesystem, and more than that dont WANT a filesystem. Yet you smugly insert a roll-eyes face, as if Apple is idiotically inept one, and because of this, the iPad is lacking. It's not. Try thinking outside the box, maybe you'll realize that conventions can change, and should change. As for how long Apple will be king in the tablet space, they will remain so if they continue doing what they're doing. And none of that includes listening to input from people like yourself, who clearly have absolutely no grasp or understanding of why Apple is so successful with tablets and iOS devices. You just want the same conventions you've used to in the past, and will resist all change. In spite of this success, you insist that they're doing it all wrong.

Same old ****, over and over. MORE PORTS. FILESYSTEM. OPEN.
If you didn't get it 4 years ago, you should get it by now. The vast majority of people don't give a ****. They want more simplicity. Thats the magic formula. When the iPad was 1st release, people kept linking to 'superior' tablets by hp, etc that ran windows 7, and mocked the iPad with long lists of **** it was missing, proclaiming how inferior it was. These same people are doing the exact same thing, except now they're point at the Xoom. Same ****, over and over.

i'm tired of reading all those iTards comments. i know this is an apple site, but come on people, the ipad2 is that what an ipad1 should have been. the technology was available and affortable, but apple didn't implement it. i'm wondering why? ($$$)
don't get at me with user experience and such things. as a power user i want to have access to the file file system of the device and that's something apple doesn't do!
i know, apple defined the hole category of tablets, but i'm happy to see that there are competitors (aka xoom and much more to come) which force apple to be even more competitive bringing better products to their costumers.

I'm tired of all you fandroids coming here and trying to bestow the virtues of Android.

We don't care. if we did we wouldn't be on this site.

There was no duel core phone let alone tablet when the first iPaad was released, OK?

Now you move along and go play with your "superior" Xoom.

When apple introduced the iPad they could have been wondering if they had just reinvented the cube. We assume that they figured it a pretty cool device but what if all those naysayers had been in tune with the rest of the population? I imagine the thud would have been easier to take since they hadn't gone all out.

iPad 2 is really nice, and everyone WHO DIDN'T HAVE iPad 1 should be very, very happy.

However, I want everyone to admit that it's a marginal upgrade from iPad 1. It's just the truth. It does everything a LITTLE BIT better. That's it.

I am finding some video playback running more smoothly. Since so many claim the speed boost, I will do more research.

Maybe they forgot to stick the 512 ram in my new 65gb white iPad. I still get refreshing of at least 4 webpages when I have all 9 tabs open. Oh well... iPad 3 maybe...

Wow, almost $4000 on a single meal when millions starve to death every year. Nice.

Any manager in a restaurant could print out a ticket like that then void it out... Or a customer left the check on the table and the busboy snapped a photo..

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2 like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C134 Safari/6533.18.5)
... And I'm not even going to comment on computer intensive projects like video or photo editing...

With very inexpensive apps like Photogene and a lowly iPad 1, it's quick and easy to do basic photo editing - levels, curves, cropping, resizing - honestly this is one of my favorite things about the iPad. I can do what I need to ready a photo from my digital camera for my company's web site in less than the time it takes to open photoshop on the Dell computer that someone stuck on my desk.

It took a few weeks of using the iPad to realize what a superb, versatile tool it is. I'm sitting out this upgrade because the new features don't add enough for,e to justify the cost, but I'll be looking at iPad3 to see what it adds.

Meanwhile, I am grateful to Apple for what they have created.

Marginal? A little bit better?

Have you seen the GPU benchmarks?

Marginal and a little bit better they ain't.

you misunderstood. no, not more ports! in my opinion they should have favored a usb port instead of their 30pin port.
let's say you're on the go, have your digital camera and your ipad with you. you shoot some pictures and then you want to transfer the pictures to the ipad to upload them to the web to share them with your friends. how would you do that? as far as i know you would have to transfer your fotos first from your camera to your mac/pc and then via itunes to the ipad. if there is another way, please enlighten me.

ok, maybe for a lot of people access to the filesystem is irrelevant, for me it's not. i like to manage my data through a file manager and not through apps, is that so bad? it wouldn't complicate things at all if apple included a file manager, because the majority wouldn't even notice it's existence and thus wouldn't use it.

you ask me why apple is so successful. the main reason for that is the cool-factor and apples marketing strategy. ask yourself how many have iOS devices out there and how many of them have a mac at home?
i don't know how things are where you live, but here in greece where i live, many of the iphone users bought that phone to be trendy, to show off and not because it's a good device. that reason comes second. many of them don't even know that the iphone or ipad is from apple!

i'm not a fandroid. i'm trying to be objective.
where did i say that the xoom is superior to the ipad? i'm only saying that competition will force apple to make even better products, which is a good thing for the costumers.

Been waiting for this video

This has absolutely sold me on upgrading.

My iPad is my primary web device now (when I'm not at work). This has been a massive issue for me.

yeah, this is definitely true. You interviewed EVERY person in Greece on why they bought an iPhone and they said "to show off", and that they did not know apple made it.

You are just ridiculous

You mean like this?: http://i52.tinypic.com/oh1pqp.png

Again, it's nice having a large disposable income.

Finally syncing my iPad 2. :)

The first lesson in Internet Discussion Board Class is to disregard almost all the claims you read on Internet Discussion Boards - particularly those relating to wealth/income or any other measure of social standing.

ROTFLMAO!!

It's indeed hard to imagine that a true baller would care who knows how he spends his money, let alone actually having the gall to photograph the reciept while apparently still at the table.

So glad that I waited for the 2nd version. I'd be kicking myself if I bought the original one a few months ago like I had planned.

hahaha! no, of course not! but i know how the average greek thinks ;)
