Why??? Why would anyone want this? What's next? Playlists by Walmart?

When you hire a "bozo" (such as Angela) it leads to a bozo explosion. Bozos doing bozo things and hiring bozos. Good call Steve.

I love the fear and revulsion that Apple marketing with fashion labels engenders in Geeks because it's a world they don't fit in or comprehend. It's great.

Dear Lord, the reactions to this are insane. Come on people it's just a playlist curated by Burberry - not much different than those Starbucks or Pottery Barn CDs you see at the stores. Sorry this is not evidence that Apple has lost its way. Get a grip folks.

I can't wait for the Westfield shopping centre best of channel !!

When one thinks of music channels , type music comes to mind .

Shopping music with brand association , for marketing purposes.... Come on, smells like selling out a little bit and loosing your way... It's shopping music !!! Might help sell a few apple watches maybe...

I'm really starting to care less and less about Apple. I see those new iPhones and shake my head. While I do like the actual design of the 6/6s - the colors?? White, Gold and Pink. WTF??? They day they stop making a black iPhone - excuse me "Space Grey" is the day I stop buying it.

I mean, suit yourself buddy. Base the descision to not to buy an iPhone because it doesn't come in black? Sounds a bit hypocritical and superficial to me.....

I don't see why Burberry's or any other entity can't have a curated channel on Apple Music.

But I listened through most of it and. . .holy ****! I rather thought that music had died long ago, but its rotting corpse as seen in these selections bore no resemblance. I heard voices, but could discern no words. I heard instruments being played, but the notes formed no pleasant chords, nor played any melodies.

I feel sorry for the tortured souls who "like" this rot. It's really sad.

Yeah, that's what the old folks said about Elvis back in the 50's.....

And this shouldn't be either. A much better front page story would be Sketch announcing they're not bringing an app to the iPad Pro because they don't know if it's worth the effort or sustainable to do so.

it should... Wait till this story gets 400 comments. More hate and more wars.. More money!

MR knows thier readers.

I love how people to this day don't realise Apple was build upon being a company for geeks and its origins . I guess the vain apple fans are loving it..... Though they never understood why apple
Products used to be superior both in terms of hardware and software .

How about the Muzak channel? Not just for the elevator anymore....

They're still superior and I've been using Apple since beige Mac OS/Rainow Apple days. Apple wasn't built as a company for "Geeks". It was a company manufacturing software and hardware the made computing human and intuitive, and easy to use for the average person, as well as more aesthetically pleasing.

Apple is getting completely off track. Fashion and music are never going to be very big money makers compared to other sectors they should be focusing on, and it doesn't really do much for the company's image either. Bringing culture and technology together does not mean releasing a ridiculous, gaudy, and frankly disgusting $20,000 gold plated watch or wasting billions of dollars buying a music company to launch a radio service that will inevitably fail. Apple is riding high on a wave of popularity because of its past accomplishments, but these are quickly wearing thin with a lot of people.

http://www.statisticbrain.com/fashion-industry-statistics/ says the fashion industry gross revenue is $1,200,000,000,000 a year. Not bad for something that's "never going to be very big money makers"

You got that right. Fear, not so much. Apathy and revulsion maybe. I certainly don't comprehend it, and can't work up the effort to fit in. Different strokes, I guess...

As far as Apple working with fashion houses like this, I'm just not sure why. I'm not sure how a mass market consumer electronics company that tries to sell a few million copies of 2 or 3 designs is going to fit with companies were exclusivity and custom fit are the business model.

It will disappear quickly again if no one wants this (see Ping and probably soon connect). Until that time just ignore it. It won't take up any space on your iPhone.

Excellent point.

They're all equally stupid.

What's next, companies telling me what kind of food and movies I should like?

Why the hell does Wired's opinion have to do with the music I may or may not enjoy?

This entire thing is bizarre.

I can see the point for a Rolling Stone (the magazine) or a Q channel as they are both well established music magazines, but I also fail to see how a Wired channel could be relevant and a Burberry channel for that matter. But to be honest it is so unimportant to me (though interesting) that I can't be bothered to be annoyed by it when I open Apple Music.

This probably makes terrific business sense and fits their new customer demographic and shares are soaring but....

...I just want my old Apple back

Interesting enough, I suppose.. Kind of a head scratcher on another level.. It's hard to imagine Steve Jobs doing any of the things I'm seeing from Apple lately. Of course it's a moot point, Steve Jobs isn't coming back. Apparently someone decided a great deal of Apple's future is going to be about co-branding. Beats.. Burberry, Hermēs,..

Probably Chanel, Tiffany, Maserati, Bvlgari, Cadillac, Prada, Lenox, Ralph Lauren, Baccarat, Rolex, BMW and who knows what else going forward. I'm not sure I totally understand this.. Isn't this the sort of thing you do when you're out of ideas?

This isn't actually co-branding but in any case goes straight to same category as $20K gold watch. It seems that some want to turn Apple into fashion brand and not so much innovator in technology. Unfortunately, nothing is eternal. Apple will eventually fall, it remains to be seen if Apple can rise like Phoenix or be buried like the rest.

Burberry is launching a curated channel on Apple Music, making it the first luxury fashion house to do so. The Burberry Apple Music channel is listed under "Curator Playlists," which also includes content from brands and media sites like GQ, Wired, Pitchfork, and Rolling Stone.

Content provided by Burberry includes selections from company's current CEO, Christopher Bailey, along with music played on the Burberry runway and a selection of emerging British talent.

Burberry is the first clothing company to debut an Apple Music channel, but it's not an unusual choice due to its Burberry Acoustic campaign, which supports new British music talent and features acoustic tracks recorded exclusively for Burberry. Burberry employs a full-time music team that works on Burberry Acoustic and matches up artists with record labels.

According to the The New York Times, going forward, the Burberry channel will feature performances, songs, and films that have come out of Burberry's work with artists on Burberry Acoustic. The channel's first exclusive will come from emerging British artists set to perform at the Burberry Womenswear show on September 21.Burberry and Apple have had a long partnership, first teaming up in 2013 to show off the photographic capabilities of the iPhone 5s. Angela Ahrendts, Apple's current head of retail, was also the CEO of Burberry until the Spring of 2014 when she joined Apple. Burberry's new Apple Music channel marks the first collaboration between Apple and Burberry since her departure.

Music is music why would it matter where it comes from... No need to put Women down ... I'm certain your mother would like others to listen to her playlist.
