Delays to Leopard
Delays to AppleTV 2.0
Delays to the SDK

It's getting rather predictable.

Apple have their fingers in more pies now, and have recently started telling us about things much further ahead than they used to.

Personally I like that Apple is taking a broader view, and even though I've been hit by all three of these delays, none have caused me any pain at all. Of course I'd love to play with the SDK, but come on... it's it really that bad?

As for stock price dropping on the news, I suggest that the point at which you believe to have been sold short because of investors who don't understand the market or are little more than day-traders.... is a great point to buy.

It's getting rather predictable.

The iPhone and iPod Touch are both very short of software features, software features that will no longer be reliant on a reluctant Apple once the SDK is out. That's why people want to see it yesterday.

The Apple TV "Take 1" ship date was delayed (past the February 2007 date announced at MWSF 2007)
The MacBook Air ship date was delayed (past the "in 2 weeks" date announced at MacWorld)

I feel your loss....but as Steve Jobs said, who ever sticks with Apple till the end will be rewarded...

I hold to that promise, seeing as Apple has overcome all expectations and is a leading company beyond what Bill Gates and his crappy company are or will ever be (same thing goes to Dell)

C'mon stock miracle!!!

Endgame! Cool!

Endgames are absolute decisive conclusions....

Wonder what that could be ?

Rather have it delayed than be like that crap Apple TV 2 update which is visibly buggy. Overall though, Apple hasn't done well at keeping on schedule lately. Even the buggy Apple TV update was late a week, and now the SDK. At least we still have installer.app :)

What are the fabulous programs people think we're going to get once this SDK becomes available? There are only a limited number of things you can do on a little pocket device and Apple has already programmed most of them.

ummm....

Let's see: It has a display, touchpad, KB, CPU, RAM and runs OS X...

...Limited?

There are hundreds of apps for jail-broken iPhones

I knew it would be delayed. I replied to someone who asked, "Why jailbreak with the upcoming SDK?" Well, here's the answer.

I'm willing to bet the SDK is delayed because they want it to work with only a new upgrade (1.1.4 or 2.0 or whatever they want to number it) And I'm willing to bet that the new upgrade is going to break all forms of jailbreaking. They'll probably TRY to make it so that even Zibri can't break it. I bet the reason for the delay is because of ZiPhone. With ZiPhone, any idiot who knows how to point and click can jailbreak their phone. (including me, I was only able to jailbreak and unlock my phone up to 1.1.2, not 1.1.3 until ZiPhone came out) Apple has to keep their partners happy and insure them that the iPhone is exclusive only to them.

LOL ... Apple lost that battle before it ever begun.

if this ends up being true, I can see a huge uproar happening... If you thought the price break caused comotion, just wait.

I don't think so. No person even knows about this SDK or even what an SDK is except for computer people and fanboys.

Please keep discussion related to the iPhone, not potential MBPs...

Assuming that the SDK is delayed (which is likely, since there's been no announcement of an event for next week), the question is "for how long?" 1-3 weeks is not going to make much of a difference, if that's all it turns out to be. I'm sure that some developers already have pre-release versions anyway, so they've been working on their apps all along.

Now, I'd be unhappy if I were a developer without a pre-release copy pegging my future on the SDK's release, but that wouldn't be sensible.

SDK is delayed a few weeks. If true, who cares? It's a small delay. Nothing significant at all.

Personally, I don't understand why it's a big deal.

Anyhow, I would rather wait and have a well functioning SDK than rush it.

Well, maybe this will cheer some people up :)

"Apple had no comment, and as yet there’s no word on any events related to an SDK release next week. However I’m also hearing that the situation is fluid, and a lot of last-minute decisions are close to being made about what precisely will or will not be disclosed next week, if anything. There are, apparently, a lot of moving parts to something this complex."

They've got till the end of Feb to announce a delay, to be civil. I think the Adobe Apple row on Flash might be part of it, who knows? But there are a lot of NDAs floating on top of the SDk I imagine. From previous rumours, the SDK explains and details a lot more backroom processes, and future plans for the format and the line up. We don't know if there is another announcement twinned with the SDK too (If MBP or iTablet or otherwise was supposed to be announced next week and got delayed, they'd rather demo both a week or two down the line).

A delay's a delay. If macboys are screaming, then the ordinary punter might just have leartn what SDK means. Frustration at the geek level here isn't going to solve anything. The phones work unlocked or locked till the SDK comes around, then big updates all round.

If it is rushed and it is a piece of crap the uproar would be bigger. I rather they take their time and do it well.

Take as many weeks and months as you need to get it right.

No Bid Deal

If there is a small delay to get it right then I don't care, just hope a iMac update comes out soon. I have one word for a poorly designed software that was pushed out too soon - Vista. Enough said.

1-3 weeks from when? If you were coming to my house, and you said you'll be there sometime in the next month, and then said you'd be 1-3 weeks late, I'd uninvite you.

quit ***** with me.

You're obviously upset.

I suggest you 'uninvite' Apple, sell your iPhone and buy something that suits your needs better and gets you less stressed.

My thoughts exactly:rolleyes:

only one way to cover up for missing the SDK release...new macbook pros!

But this is bad news... Another delay from :apple:, I think they really need to hire more personel. This is just not working! But on the other side, I couldn't care less, I don't have an iPhone yet (Holland, Europe) because I'm waiting for 3G version. So the best is they take another 3 weeks and iron out the bugs! That would be considerably better then releasing an unfinished version which is going to bring alot of complains. Or you'll be getting 1.1.4.1 within a week.

Just my thoughts!;)

Oh, and what a nice mockup, seriously that is something that could work! In ways of size and function.

Well, actually I was predicting that this could happend.

I said in other posts that, if something huge should happend Tuesday, Apple would be forced to give public some more clues, to do some invitations, we would have some more information. That wasn't the case.

I guess that the SDK will be some weeks late for sure. I'm guessing just 1 week otherwise people will complain that Apple is always late in their announcements. Plus, Apple wouldn't have anything to announce the tuesday between this Tuesday and the 4 March Tuesday. :D

It seams pretty obvious now, since Apple has put out something every Tuesday of the month, that the next product being out is the Mbp. The Mbp is already a good product but that's not the point. The point is that it has a 2 years old design (if not more), an almost 1 year old specs (even if Apple speed up it in november) and that there are other machines (Mba) having specs that the all Pro category should have (magnetic latch, multitouch trackpad).

Anyway, I'll go to the church and pray for it. I need to buy a Mbp for college. I could buy it now. But since the Mbp update seams to be imminent, I will not pay "old" specs for the same price as the news ones.

I hope they take 1-3 weeks to beat Steve senseless for not putting in edge support for iChat.

ha, i knew it's coming. i can recall ppl in this forum saying it's gonna come really soon.

they're either patching up the holes for 1.1.4 unlock (probably made it somewhat incompatible for the SDK now) or using this time to dispatch more SDKs to other companies like Skype and Google so they'll have their apps done when the SDK is released to the mass public.

Apps that absolutely positively have to be made through the SDK or otherwise:

MMS : WTF apple, you've got a camera, you've got a phone in one device. Have you noticed that the other billion camera phones can do this cool thing called sending pictures.

Chat client: a chat client, and one that works through the wireless data network. I'm not paying text message prices for <1K a whack when I've got unlimited data.

Calculator: A decent calculator that has more functions than the dollar store variety. I also want RPN, but I'm odd.

Given Ziphone and the vibrant hacking community, these apps will be made.

Sheldon

Hire some programmers !

Apple has 10 billion in the bank. Hire a couple more programmers darn it!

This is pretty pathetic from Apple. BTW, I think Leopard is one of Apple's worst OS offerings ever. It's bloated, slow and buggy. I'm still dropping my Wireless connection and I use only Apple wireless equipment. Running 10.5.2.

This reminds me of the kind of crap that Microsoft pulls.

Get with it Apple! You're really starting to piss people off!
