what about japan ? does someone know if they do it in japan too ? because we bought a macbook unibody yesterday and then.... what ^_^,
i saw that offer on the apple website .com but then today i discovered that it was not on the japanese website...

I just typed in my MacBooks serial number and put that I purchased it on the 7th (I actually purchased it 1'st December'ish) and location of purchase and it's added the upgrade to my cart... am I ok to just go ahead and order it? Don't wanna get busted or nothing :D I'm 15 btw.

I don't understand why there isn't an "upgrade" price on this software to begin with. I know they call the $80 an "upgrade", but paying $80 a year for such incremental steps is too high.

I'd get every year of iLife if it was 40 bucks.

Yeah they just let you order it anyway... I tried it too. What's up with that?

Maybe someone could enlighten me on purchasing of the qualifying macbook/pro. I bought one after Jan 6th, but from Ebay, would that still qualify me for the update or does it have to be from either Apple or an authorized reseller like Macmall?

It has to be from Apple or an authorised retailer. But I just entered that I bought mine on 7th Jan when I bought it on 1st Dec really and it's let me go ahead with it.

When I spoke with an Apple on-line specialist, she said the iLife '09 update would be down-loadable so unless she was incorrect, the $10 would not be to cover postage.

If only my brother would have bought his computer 3 hours later.

You're brother's computer DOES qualify for the up to date program. ANY computer bought on day of Macworld Keynote qualifys for the up to date program.

Also, up to date is actually free. the fee is to cover the shipping and handling.

I bought mine during Summer this year, and at the same time, I also bought iWork 08, not knowing that in few months it was obsolete. But I got the full iWork 09 at my college bookstore for only $59, and this will be the same price for iLife 09.

I did the same thing we'll see.

Purchased my new MacBook Pro on Black Friday......I mean 1/6/08.

Order went through and is showing a ship date of 2/2/09.

it also somewhere on that page says you have to provide a copy of the reciept? how are you getting around thaT?

Would you guys please stop ordering with fake order dates so Apple won't audit my order? :D

Hmpf...is not recognizing my serial number. Fax it is...

BTW, it's only $10 - is it really worth the time to call and try and haggle and get it for free? I'm all for fighting on principal, but there's a time to fight and a time to accept :D

You won't need a receipt if your had bought your Mac from Apple online store.
I logged in on a different account to which my MacBook order invoice was on. I placed the order on my Dad's account, I attempted to redeem the $10 upgrade on my account, it let me order it, and I had a shipping date of 2 Feb. I cancelled it however.

Well, it says that if you do it by post or fax, not by web. This is what I don't understand, I hadn't placed the order for my MacBook on the account with which I redeemed the upgrade. I'm not sure if they would check it up or not because I got a shipping date and all that. I cancelled my order though.

Apple SHould Provide Better Customer Service

They should make the iLife 09 update free retroactive back 30 days rather than charge a "nominal" fee.

It's the principal that you are being taken care of and not being nickel and dimed.

The update is a download and is not a mailing.

As a potential customer, I am not impressed.
