Probably

I still use the 5s. I looked at the 6, and the back of the phone look stupid. The camera sticks out, and the case in the back look like a kid's underwear. I'm skipping the 6S, and hope the iPhone 7 will be something more appropriate.

If you don't believe me, look at the back of the iPhone 6, then look at this as an example:

That's funny Wallabe. Do you think they really look like this? ****************ytDLjA

It's equally laughable and absurd that someone thinks waiting 6 months is a good idea.

Get the iPhone 6 now. There is ALWAYS something better on the horizon.

Don't be one of those guys: "iPhone X is a week old, may as well wait for the next one, don't want that old thing."

iPhones come out every year. Waiting close to half a year for a yearly product seems a tad overkill.

It might be reasonable to wait in some cases though. I am thinking about switching to T-Mobile but I want a phone that takes advantage of the newer LTE Band 12 deployments. The current iPhone 6 and 6+ don't support band 12.

Band 12 development is what will start to bring Tmo on par with ATT and VZW outside of metro areas. I'm waiting to see if the 6S will support his band.

I'm still on my iPhone 5 and on an archaic 3-year plan (Canada...) and even then I'm waiting for 2016's phone. As it was pointed out earlier, the protruding camera and general form factor of the 6 isn't all that appealing to me. If the 7 is different, great. If not, well I'd have the newest phone.

Wait. I have a 6 and love it. The camera is the best thing about it. I have a clear 99 cent plastic case so the lens doesn't protrude, but since you feel so strongly, definitely wait.

It might not be the best idea in many cases, but it's certainly far from laughable or especially absurd when we are only talking about essentially a few months. Everyone's situation is different and for some it might be worthwhile to do it for one reason or another (when actually taking a moment to look beyond a generic "there's always something better down the line" type of line).

Rationalize as you see fit, but make no mistake, the notion is absurd. 12 weeks might make more sense for fence sitting, but 24 weeks is ridiculous.

I recently upgraded from iPhone 5 to a 6 Plus and haven't regretted it. I love the big screen. 6S is still a long wait. If the 6S Plus is going to be something vastly different (which I doubt) I can always sell my phone and upgrade to it. But I'm looking forward to the iPhone 7. I like to buy the "new" phone with new design (not the "we added siri" -edition).

Ridiculous to some, wise to someone else, and doesn't make much difference one way or another yet to others.

Wait for the "S" model. They are typically more future-proof especially since it will have 2GB RAM. The 6/6+ is not a good buy right now because it is obsolete out of the gate by being the last iPhone with only 1GB RAM.

I think if you just want the 6 you should be OK but definitely hold off if you want the 6+. The Plus was significantly under-spec'd from the get go with occasional choppiness and lag during the user experience. It's absolutely pathetic that Apple did this. I don't think there has been an iPhone with a baked in shelf life as short as this thing.

I have a note 4 and in a similar situation. I want an iPhone but don't want to buy the 6 plus brand new as second hand ones prices are dropping like mad especially with galaxy s6 and HTC m9 being released.

I will wait for the 6s Plus version and most likely buy it brand new. At least it will be future proof for a bit longer and one of my favourite things about the iPhone is the prices generally hold out for resale value if you sell them at the right time

While I certainly agree that the lack of RAM is an achilles heel of the 6, the whole notion of "future-proof" doesn't really make much sense. If anything, Apple has such an enormous amount of devices out there that they are bound to take the 1 GB of RAM into account. Apps will terminate faster thanks to the lesser amount of RAM, but that shouldn't affect the performance of how fast or fluid the apps themselves actually perform.

If anything, iOS 8 proved to a lot of people how state of the art hardware won't matter if you have software that will cripple it form head to toe.

The 6 Plus does certainly seem to be affected by the downsampling and being the mess which was/is iOS 8, it certainly didn't help.

Go for it, there will be always a new iphone with better specs etc. I got my 6 few weeks ago and I'm pretty happy with it :)

Wait for it if you can. The 6 plus is barely usable in iOS 8 due to its RAM deficiency. It'll be awful on iOS 9. And if it's true that the next one is going to be using a better grade aluminum, you shouldn't have to worry about bending either

Honestly, I'm in a similar situation and have been waiting since November. I had an iPhone 6 and wasn't too thrilled with it for the price. Right now with the second hand prices going down is a good time to buy one. I ended up getting a 2014 Moto X during the $140 time period in November, making it $410 (with 32GB of storage). I have just been waiting for the iPhone to have more RAM, as on my 6 the app reloads were a bit annoying (not as bad as my retina mini). I have been using 2GB of RAM on my last 3 Android phones, and the multitasking performance has been amazing, just up until Lollipop and it's horrible RAM management system came out. Now my phone handles the same as the iPhone 6 I had, but it takes worse pictures and the battery life is a bit worse, but for the $300 difference I decided it was worth it to wait until the 6S and put that money towards that phone. I am happy with my Moto X, but I can't wait to see what the 6S and 6S+ is all about!

I also feel that the plus suffers from that apple first generation issue of being underpowered. Bought a refurb rMBP 2012 and it stutters pretty badly using integrated graphics, since they just weren't up to snuff. I did go and look at the 6 and 6+ in person before my test driving of the 6 and I could tell that there was a bit of lag on the plus model even on the home screen swiping. Made me want to wait until the next year's model came out.

I'd grab one now. I'm not expecting huge refinements this year for the s. They will still have the camera lump because there's no way they have time to incorporate the new tech they bought in time. It may have more ram but nobody knows. I swapped my lg G3 out for a 6 plus and don't regret it on bit. I have pretty much zero lag and it's by far the smoothest phone I've ever had.

Decision has been made. If xperia z4 does not Impres me this year, I will consider jumping Ship. Although I have to say, it will be a tough decision as while I don't mind iPad and Mac, well, I love them, I do mind limitations of iOS on a mobile phone. Thanks for your input!

Well, disappointed with z4 specs, not much different in specs and looks... It's either iPhone 6s/6s plus or experia Z5. Patience is not my virtue :)

If you are not in a rush, I would wait. However, the 6 Plus is an amazing phone and you could not go wrong getting one now. And you could just stroll into an Apple Store and pick one up today and avoid the madness once the new one is released.

In the same boat

I jumped ship from galaxy s4 to iphone 6 yesterday but now having second thoughts. I got iphone 6 64 Gb brand new from apple store for $810 (with taxes) spread over 20 months with AT&T. I am not sure if this a good deal. I was thinking of selling galaxy s4 for 220-250 and getting S5 for 350-400, wait for iphone 6S. The difference in price of used S5 and iphone 6 is pretty big.

And older and a used phone would naturally be cheaper than a newer brand new phone.

...just like iOS 8 runs on current phones? :p

More like how iOS 6 ran on the iPhone 5/4S ;)

Rumors seem to be pointing to iOS 9 being less about new features and more about polishing existing ones and also getting more RAM in this year's phones. They're just rumors of course, but that's all we have two months out from WWDC.

What do you think, if you were to buy a phone now?

I currently use Xperia Z2 which I value for many things, battery life being one of the most important ones. I want to switch to iPhone as the sizes are at last right and besides - I have a mac mini and iPad so quite logical choice I guess...

I am in no rush although I'd like to change my phone.

Would you wait?

If you want it and have the funds available . . . . .

If funds are tight, why buy now.
