+1 on waiting for the 6s+. Why, you ask? Lots of reasons:

1. The iPhone 6+ is beyond half its lifetime cycle.
2. It's a bit underpowered at 1 GB of RAM
3. The rumors of force touch, stronger aluminum, 2 GB of RAM, and higher processing speed will benefit you longer, especially since apps are becoming more power- intensive. The 6+ needs to catch up in the power game.
4. I am waiting, so you can too!

Hope this helps. :)

I will get mine off contract Monday. Next year my contract renews so I will get 6s plus and sell this one :)

Well I'm going to get the 6 in November as for me it's still going to be a two generation jump from my 5c to the 6 also going to be cheaper than a 6s or whatever they release!

6 months till my contract end!

Why not just buy a new battery for your i5, say to yourself that you'll get the 6S+ in September/October and then stop thinking about the whole thing? I came from an i5 to a 6+ and there are certain areas the the i5 smokes my 6+ in, and in most of the others areas the i5 isn't disgraced at al. Put it this way, I wish that I had held on for a whole 12 months. At least you would only have to wait less than half that time.

Like what? I have a 6+ and came from a 5 and the only thing good about the 5 was its portability. All the rest the 6+ does way, way better or faster.

----------

Well guess what, I changed my mind... I have ordered 6 plus and it will arrive on Monday...

...

End of story and thanks for help :)

Fantastic decision. Enjoy your 6+ just like I'm enjoying mine for a week now. It truly is a fantastic phone.

Not so. Yes there's the obvious portability but the i5 is 32bit and consequently uses less RAM than the 64bit 6+. The iPhone 5 reloads browser tabs and apps *way* less readily than the 6+ and that alone is a massive positive.
Whether it's a lack of RAM, the scaler, GPU inadequacies, or iOS8, the 6+ has three issues that the i5 doesn't - lag, stuttering and screen freezing.
Also, apart from low light shots, the i5 has a better camera.

Where the 6+ betters the i5 is screen size (if you want bigger), much better battery life, much better loudspeaker, Touch ID (if you want that), and slightly zippier operation but that's incremental. The i5 isn't slow and nor is the 6+ fast as lightning.

The 5 isn't slow, but the 6 heavily outspeeds it in nearly everything. Also, I don't know what lag you're talking about. I'm on 8.4b1 and it's buttery smooth.

The 5 also does not have a better camera. It has no true tone flash. It's such a monumental difference in video recording that you would not believe if I showed it to you. Also, there is slo-mo.

There is nothing about the 5 that makes it better than the 6 or 6+, except if you really like small phones. The memory issues aren't a problem for many people, myself included (there would be a huge outrage if that were the case).

You're much better off with a 5S which has Touch ID anyway, a better camera, M7 co-proc and A7 processor, and true tone flash.

For me the 6+ is heavily flawed and with the benefit of hindsight I wish I had kept my i5 for another year and bought the 6S+.
You mention video recording and I was talking about stills. I have never recorded video on any of my phones. If you never experience any lag and don't need more than 1GB of RAM then that's great. I see very few worthwhile benefits to the 6+ over the iPhone 5 other than screen size and battery life.

Even with stills the 6+ is still better. If it weren't, what would Apple be thinking?

Not much of a difference between the plus and iPad air as far as responsiveness. I used the 5s for 5 days as part of the t mobile test drive. Coming from the android world the 5s felt like a toy. It is so small and has one half of the pixels to push compared to the plus. It feels like an apples to oranges comparison. All benchmarks favor the plus. You may get a faster processor with the next version and you'll also get less battery life. I really dislike the trend toward slimmer phones as battery life has gotten worse over the years. Which is why I got the plus. So far I'm inclined to keep it....which is admittedly after just a couple of days.

Those are cameras from the 6, some of them defective. The 6+ has a better camera.

Nonetheless, Apple and these photographers would disagree with you. And so do I; the 6+ takes great photos.

As does my 6. I have raved about the excellent photos my 6 has taken in other threads. I havent used a 6+ camera, but the camera on my 6 is outstanding. I took family photos of one of my sons family and they turned out great. So good my other kids demanded i do the same. Many of the pictures were printed, a couple up to 16x20 and several 11x14's. I did use a tripod and off camera lighting, as i used to work for a professional photographer and understand the value of those items and how to use them. Point is, if you use the camera properly, it will give you excellent results. In adition, i hand hold the camera of the six to copy music scores for use while playing guitar for my choir and those copies are razor sharp and taken in the dim lighting of a church.
The camera on my 6 is exceptional and folks not getting the same results should take it to the Apple Store and have it fixed.
My 2 cents, again.

The 6+ camera is fine for my needs as all I mostly take are close-ups of things to put on Ebay....or snaps of friends. However, I have read enough and seen enough photos to know that the 6/6+ camera is a bit of an oddity. The noise processing is OTT and can result in some quite terrible photos. So the improvements are low light capabilities and OIS if you have a 6+. Other than those you are unfortunately looking at negatives when compared to the 5S and even i5 cameras.

----------

Which makes a difference.

Even my iPod 5G's camera takes great photos (with light) and I believe that camera was in the 4S. It's all about how you use it.

It isn't just about how you use it. In those threads I linked to you there are some semi-pro photographers explaining the 'Monet effect' quite clearly. Some of the photos in those threads speak for themselves.

Having used the i5 camera for 2 years, I beg to differ. ALL of the i5 photos are just fine for a camera phone, but not one is as sharp as the photos i get with my 6. Ive read about the noise problems that others have posted about but tbh, there was plenty of noise in the pictures i took with the iPhone 5 and the 4s before it. Im extremely happy with the photos taken with my iPhone 6. To me, the photo being noticebally sharper is paramount.

I'm pleased that you're happy. I have no complaints with the 6+ camera, for my requirments it is fine. However, some of those 'Monet' photos look positively awful and I wouldn't fancy taking holiday photos with my 6+.

The Monet Effect is a concept created by a great painter dealing with overall color and blurring of the photographs' contents. Ive not seen the pictures that you are referring to, but would think the photographer would have to apply a filter of sorts to achieve. Ive seen nothing that has come out of my 6 that vaguely resembles anything that drastic.
I am assuming the artist creating the photos had to make an artistic decision to compromise the original photo to get there?

There are several examples of the 'Monet effect' in this thread. All are standard photos taken with the iPhone 6 camera and not put through any effects processing.

As i stated, even the folks in that thread argue there is a problem with those specific cameras. Cant tell if its hardware or software related, but if your phone is doing this, take it in for another. I cant make mine produce the effect shown in that thread which is basically out of focus with multiple exposures overlaid on one photo. At least thats what. It looks like to me. Maybe a burst mode bug.
