I appreciate your sentiment but there is a catch here. Half of the problem is because we as Americans are cheap. We don’t like paying for things we use. So we end up with companies like Facebook. They find alternate ways to monetize their products. Not saying Facebook is good, it isn’t, but if they turned off data collection for $10/mo would you pay it?
Ain't that the truth. And the other truth about that is, data collection for targeted advertising is basically harmless, and people make a big deal about it for no logical reason. As you pointed out, 99.9% of people would not pay to remove it.

Looking forward to Biden’s presidency bringing down the hammer on domestic social media companies that have the same inappropriate data harvesting and privacy issues as Tik Tok.
From what I've read, many foreign countries are actually quite happy with Biden winning as he is expected to be more negotiable than Trump.

I've done a bit of development for an internet advertising company and I would not call the data harmless. While it should not (and usually doesn't) contain personally identifiable information things slip through. And then that data is sold and leaked. No matter how hard companies try to scrub data a bad actor can likely recreate an ID of someone from enough of it. Especially if you have multiple data sources. Used well, it isn't terrible. Used for nefarious purposes and it is dangerous.

$400k a year.

Taxpayers instead are paying for his golf trips at resorts he owns. $145 million dollars. He's making more by making us pay for his golfing by many orders of magnitude.
Oh...so not about the money then?

While your governors in that government salary....and cutting off the means of others to earn.

meanwhile our president doesn’t take a cent during the pandemic.

I’m sure Trump is negotiating to have own a portion of TikTok as part of the deal using US regulatory power to enrich himself. If you think he wouldn’t possibly do this, then you haven’t been alive the last 3 years and 11 months.

You're ignoring everything I just said? He is getting paid by golfing, because the money being spent for all the hotel rooms of the Secret Service, and his membership to his own clubs, is being paid TO HIM. He never left his business interests. It's a private company, he can set his salary at whatever amount of that profit that he wants to. 145 million dollars has been paid to his company for golfing. That's nearly 400 times more than his annual salary.

How does one get paid if they take no salary?

Trump lost 1 billion networth since presidency. How is he profiting from the presidency?

And his clubs, he does it at cost, it makes sense why he’s losing money. Makes sense why Trump’s security arrangements have been the cheapest.

Right, but would you be willing to pay a monthly fee to not have it?

Absolutely. At a couple of places I visit more frequently, like the daily beast and nexusmods I pay for a subscription which removes ads and tracking. I wish more places would allow the option to charge a subscription vs ad supported revenue.
Why don't you just use a free adblocker?

Because that deprives the site of revenue. If everyone did that, the site would go under. Presumably you’re visiting the site because you find their content of interest. Wanting them to continue having new content, and depriving them of the revenue they need to do that, are at cross purposes.
If sites only had static ads that didn't flash and move about so I can't concentrate on the content, then I wouldn't have an adblocker. It's that bloody simple.

He's charging the government 1 million dollars per day of golfing. That's being paid to his company.

It isn't this hard...

The fact he's a terrible businessman is well-documented. His constant losses at every venture he undertakes are independent of the fact he's making earning many orders of magnitude more than the presidential salary from these charges.

The fact is that 75+ (10 million more than 2016) Million Americans voted for him, and he’s still your president

74... and he lost in a landslide. And he’s still robbing you blind and using a 400k donation as a tax write-off for the millions of dollars he’s paying himself at properties that he clears a 27% profit from.
