its funny that they use this theater for this event. Tomorrow is the unofficial iPod Day. So does that mean maybe a new named iPod? Maybe we are all calling it iPad Mini and in reality it will be called iPod Touch XL?

Mind = Blown

Either way im calling it iPod Touch XL!
Given that it's the 11th anniversary of the iPod's announcement, and at the same venue, it wouldn't surprise me if Tim Cook mentions it, but I would be very surprised to see iPod Touch XL branding.

if they release an updated full size ipad, what happens in feb/mar 2013?

Depends on the degree of the update. If it gets the A6, then Apple will move to a fall update schedule. If it's just an LTE/Lightning update, then I think we'll get an A6 update in March with upgraded cameras.

This could be a repeat of the last Apple event.

New iPad Minis and other tablet announcements. At the end Tim Cook walks off the stage to applause with no mention of new desktops.

Afterwards someone asks Tim Cook about new iMacs and Mac Minis. "We at Apple feel most desktop users today will find the iPads, iPods and iPhones a great solution for their needs."

Later Apple updates their store with updated Mac Minis and iMacs. But to the horror of all those who have been waiting for so long, the updates do not include new CPUs or GPUs. Just a slight uptick in Ghz, the addition of USB 3.0 and more memory capability which the iMacs already have.

Then all hell breaks loose so Tim Cook responds to a conserned iMac user's email.

"Sorry we didn't have time to talk about the iMac or Mac Mini but we are going to be eventually discontinuing these products. So you better buy what we are now offering or you can switch to a PC with Windows 8. Ha,ha."

Such scenario would be Apple fanboy's worst nightmare

The actual event is obviously just going to focus on the iPad on iBooks (hence the different venue), with silent upgrades to the Mac products as usual. I don't know where this whole 'colour iMac' rumour came from, but no way are Apple going to disjoint the look of their computer line-up with candy coloured iMacs.

Something will need to come in multiple colors

Judging by the multi-colored graphic in the invitation and the colorful event signage, it certainly seems like there will be some kind of color options other than black / white / silver aluminum in an upcoming product.

Is it possible that Apple will bring back colorful iMacs? In anodized aluminum colors like the iPods? And/or will the iPad mini be the colorful product? Interesting.

Calling it now, musical guest will be - They Might Be Giants. You know, for irony.

Or maybe the Foo Fighters will stage a reunion concert. Back together after all these weeks.

I agree. I miss Steve and his uncompromising insistence on quality.

Yes because there never were any quality issues while Steve was running the show. The RDF some have here when it comes to Steve is mind boggling.

My guess is that iPad Airs (I'm on that naming convention bandwagon) will be available in the standard black/white/anodized aluminum, but Apple will offer cases/covers in a wide variety of colors aimed at the education market.

Air implies the same size but a lot less weight. The ipad mini will be smaller. That will be the main focus. Small.

Oops. Totally forgot about the Smart Covers and Smart Cases. :)

(And I'm on the "iPad mini" bandwagon because I think the "Air" in "MacBook Air" may go away soon. Apple might re-brand it to "MacBook" since has effectively replaced the old white plastic MacBook line. But whatever the small iPad is called, I'm getting one. In black. It'll be my first iPad.)

Only way I am buying iPad Mini is if I can get a 16gb model for £199 and the screen has a ppi of 216 or more. In other words, match Nexus. Otherwise Nexus 7 32GB model for £199 it is (when this model is sold end of this month).

Good summary, but you forgot iTunes 11. Which I would guess to be available tomorrow, as well.
