About a new, full-sized iPad...

The more I think about it, the more I think it would be foolish to release it now. First, if there really is new tech besides Lightning connector, a lot of people who bought iPad 3rd Gen will be pissed because of a refresh six months after. Second, if the only new tech is a lightning connector, Apple gains nothing from putting in, other than angering people who are still having problems getting their hands on adapters for their iPhones...

Apple lost its mojo

The spirit is not there anymore, they are just offering the same products but in different sizes, no innovation. That game won't last long. Mark my words.

People will get tired of buying "features", that is what everybody else sells and cheaper.

iPod Max with multiple colors
Can't make the iPad look like a kids toy
Book it lol

That's kinda what I was thinking.
Since Steve Jobs said 7" tablets were DOA and since we are seeing shrinking Apple Logo's in diff colors and since this is the same place where the iPods were first introduced, maybe MAYBE the iPad "Mini" isn't going to be iPad Mini or iPad anything! MAYBE they are putting it in the iPod lineup in different colors and calling it the iPod XL! Just to stay true to Steve's call on it and to throw everyone off who keeps naming their products before they are even introduced! :D

Can't wait for Phil Schiller to do his thing, he's the last cool presentation guy left at Apple. :p

Not my video BTW, it's from a YouTube channel called iTunedSteveJobs, he does lots of funny Auto-Tune keynote videos, you guys should check them out. :)

Autotune is... well, you know.
Nice to see you love it so much as to repost it.

iLife '13 & iWork '13

Aren't we overdue for these updates? Would make sense if they introduced these with new iMac and Mac Mini models. Maybe they'll finally bring photo journals over from iOS iPhoto.

If you look at it from another way, they won't be angering customers who find out that only a few months after they bought an iPad in the holiday season the 30-pins dock connector will be completely useless because as of 2013 literally all iOS devices will have a small Lightning-connector.

So there are two benefits of upgrading the current iPad: Lightning-connector adaption will go much faster and customers who bought an iPad during the coming holidays won't be angry because their iPads can be used in combination with the newest accessoires for this decade.

Also, Apple could finally switch to IGZO displays which means a few things: IGZO displays use less energy in general, less backlighting is needed (because IGZO displays easily let through high pixel density displays) and thus a less powerful, cheaper battery is enough.

So they could basically increase Lightning-connector adaption and lower costs for the iPad all before the holiday season.

Also, an IGZO displays looks exactly the same as the current IPS display. The mean difference is how it lets through more light (and thus less backlighting (50% less LED lights) is needed and thus cheaper batteries can be used).

Tears will be flowing if any of the following occur (and frankly, some of it will, so expect to need scuba gear for the next week on the forum) :

- No iPad Mini
- iPad Mini is just 1024x768 resolution
- iPad Mini replaces iPad 2 completely in the line-up.
- iPad Mini gets better LTE radios, but regular iPad is not updated.
- Regular iPad gets updated LTE radios.
- iPad Mini doesn't get better LTE radios, neither does the regular iPad.

- iMacs are introduced, no redesign, spec bump
- iMacs are introduced, spec bump is considered minor.
- iMacs are introduced, redesign sacrifices something.

- All of the above, Mac Mini

- All of the above, Mac Pro

- MacBook Pro 13" Retina is introduced, 1699$ is confirmed.
- MacBook Pro 13" Retina is introduced, 1499$, but 128 GB SSD storage as base (specs considered minor).

Yep, I'm glad he always does the presentations. Tim Cook can't bring over the excitement, Philip can.

Did any of you see the terrible photoshop job 9to5mac did of inside the venue? Hilarious.

Would love a new iPhoto. iPhoto'11 is starting to beachball on me.

Anyone think the iTunes update will be part of this event ?

Hope so. Really looking forward to it :)

haha. oh dear.

I think tomorrows event is going to be very interesting since this may be the first real strategic product move under Tim.

For example, I can't see Apple coming out with the new and shiny mini with black anodized style, like the iphone yet keep the ipad in silver. Also the rounded edges is a new design aspect that seems like they would want to bring to all of the models.

I think this is what tomorrow will be all about, uniformity in their product line. That's why they will debut an update to the ipad line so it looks in line with the mini.

Tears will be flowing if full sized iPad get more then a dock connector update

That's only for those that bought. I'm in the market now, so I'm hoping for an A6 update at the very minimum. I want a clear jump in internal hardware over iPad 3 (although I'm doubtful)

Looks like Steve Jobs passed down the tradition. I'm not saying that Apple sells their products just based on hype, but Steve Jobs really knew how to sell even the garbage from NeXT.
I really don't understand all this hype about Steve's public persona. He was quite bland on stage if you ask me. Don't know why people think he was anther P.T. Barnum.

I believe his demeanor behind the scenes was more colorful. And something Apple wouldn't want anyone to see. :)

But compared to Tim Cook... :D

Garbage? wasnt Doom created by id software on a NeXT?

Somehow a (Movie) Theater as the venue quite fits to something with ...movies? AppleTV besides the lack of any recent rumors?

Still can't quite make it out why they chose this venue.... imo it doesn't really fit to iPad or even Macs...

colored iMacs...I'd go crazy. Just bought a new iMac two months ago (after waiting for months, but I NEEDED it)...retiring my beloved white 2006...really missing white iMacs.

I'd love colored iPads...but highly doubt it. There would have been leaks...the serial numbers indicated black and white only.

It would be hard to sell a refresh based on a new (currently unpopular) connector alone. I expect either a reduction in thickness, a small processor bump (A6X with 4 graphics cores maybe, but otherwise identical to A6?), or LTE.

No company can come up with something completely revolutionary every year or two. Even Apple only comes up with a completely new concept every 5 years or so.
Does anyone know if there will be a live feed this time ?
There never is, at least not officially from Apple.

Possibly a very brief mention, but I suspect there will be too much else to cover.

I think your predictions are money, with the exception that Apple might possibly offer an 8 GB iPad Mini for $249, and considering what a big seller the iPad 2 is, I suspect it will still hang around.

I'll be damned if I'm ever going to recognise Green as a primary colour.

In school we learnt Red, Blue and Yellow. Buh.
Of course years later I learn that Green is apparently a primary colour as well? I wish I could find the teacher that told me a primary colour is one that cannot be made up using a combination of other colours because clearly this isn't true.

And I am from Australia and we put U's into our Colours and that's the way I like it. *shakes cane*

Oh and umm......... bring on new iMac's!

There's a difference between primary colors for things like paint and primary colors for things like light. Red green and blue are primary because of the three sensor types we have in our eyes that pick up red green and blue. Yellow is a primary color in paint, but not so with light.
