Also, with Steam, even if your Windows install changes that doesn't matter, you can download the game as many times as you like. I've done it a couple of times.

exactly, with steam, if you own the game you really own it, you play it on whatever the hell you want, home gaming computer, gaming laptop, work computer, install it as many times as you want.

thats how it should be.

My money is laughing all the way into Valve's pockets.

To be honest, there's probably more money in Mac gaming than PC gaming. Outside of Steam I'll bet more than 50% of PC gamers torrent their games and wouldn't dare spend one red cent on a game if they can find a way to get it free. This is not to say Mac users don't do this but there are PC users on several forums I've visited that admited they've illegally torrented Windows 7 and Starcraft 2.
Picture very related. Never underestimate a Steam sale. Also, iLife and Mac OS X are even easier to get a hold of.

Offline mode is rather easy to abuse for singleplayer games a well.

ahh thats funny (comic) but in canada where i live, even during the christmas crazy download time it still maxed my connection out at 1.5MiB/s

also steam allows you to preload a game weeks in advance of its release, so the second it strikes midnight you can play

Wow. So true... I even got tears rolling down my cheeks.

I'm glad you enjoyed it while it lasted. Steam was rather dead to me until Left 4 Dead came out. Though I had an account only a few months after the launch of Half Life 2. It was only the installer for HL2 up until that point.

Aspyr violates apple regulations by dumping files into documents folder without user's approval. I am not talking about save files but configuration files. These should't be in documents folder. Apple clearly states this location is user's domain and should only be modified by the user. Hopefully, by the inclusion to the app store, Aspyr will fix this for steam users too. I don't actually like the idea of Apple controlling what kind of apps users should use, but forcing developers to make software appropriately does seem to be a good idea sometimes.

All of my CoD4 files are in /Applications/Call of Duty 4/. Where did you install CoD4 to?

OK, my fault. I was talking about civilization 4 Colonization on steam. The game installs under steam folder, but once you launch the game, user profile files are copied into ~/Documents/ although they should be copied into ~/Library/Applications Support/ according to Apple. To be accepted to app store, I guess Aspyr will have to change this. The same situation is also true for both Civ4:BTS and Civ5. Hopefully this post clarifies my complaints.

I’d like to see Aspyr bring Quake Wars to the App Store. It’s my all-time favorite game, but that key disc is annoying! The Mac App Store does eliminate that particular pain.

You don't mean Quake Wars:Enemy Territory, do you?
It's one of the worst FPS games I've played. No ”feel” to it at all. I really regret that I bought it before trying, but I believed the reviews I read and the videos I saw.

If you want to get a copy, mine is for sale. :)

But maybe you mean the ”original” Quake Wars?

qw:et was the weirdest game i've ever played. the whole feel of it just felt like a conglomeration of weirdness. it got a lot of hype though.

I'd like to say 'yay'

...but I already bought Civ IV and expansions off Steam for about $7 during the holiday sales. Steam will be my first option for most games rather than the Mac App Store.

Agreed. There's no good flow to the gameplay and the fights feels clunky in a way. Stiff characters sliding around.

I do like the Cyclops though. :)

The game not only got a lot of hype, but quite good reviews too (8:isch) which I don't understand.
