Yep that's what I think too. Apple always looking to shave a dollar. That said, Samsung is no better.
corners being cut, either intentionally or indirectly (there are many possible reasons) .

But again, when you see their response towards warranty or complaints and they just dismiss us, it points to them knowingly doing this for profit, and then just plain telling us they won’t be doing anything different next year.

From now on I will always do a thorough inspection of any Apple product I buy before leaving the Apple store and if there is an issue I will immediately ask for a replacement or do a refund within the 14 day period.

"Even Longer" can do 30 seconds night mode. It can do regular raw so you can handle all the processing yourself in lightroom or similar app.

For "ready baked" images with automatic processing I think stock is still superior.
How close does Even Longer “night mode” get to a proper native 30s night mode on the stock app?
I’m contemplating paying for the pro mode but it’s rather expensive (for me).

Assuming it’s free from the blue plague of course.

I’ve already paid for the app and just found out that even the “night mode” is a subscription thing 😳

Strange thing. I don't get blue smudge anymore on 30 seconds exposure table test. I am on iOS 18.1.1 and tested it right after it was released and I had blue haze. Tested it yesterday and today several times and I get pitch black pictures with some amount of white, blue and red hot pixels. The conditions were the same. I can't explain it. I don't believe Apple pushed any update without me knowing it. But the fact is I can't get blue haze pictures with long exposure table test anymore. Can anyone test it and confirm / disprove?

I still have blue screen/striping 15PM on 18.1.1

Still blue on mine, same as last week. I suspect you have accidentally used ultra wide angle camera.

It seems there is an update note in iOS 18.2 RC that might address this issue…

  • Fixes an issue where Night mode photos in Camera could appear degraded when capturing long exposures (iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max)
I guess we shall find out soon enough but I have my doubts still.

Hope Apple knows the 16Pro/16PM aren't the only phones with this issue. My 15PM has the issue too

Has anyone tested if 18.2 RC fixes/improves it? Zollotech mentioned something about Apple addressing this in their "Bug fixes".
