Hipstamatic John S Lens, Float Film > Camera+ Grunge effect

this pic is superb. i love it :)

Agreed. But what is that thing with all the keys on it?;)

I think they used to call it a textingmachine or typewriter or something. Apparently, primitive humans used to use it to, get this, write novels on and report the news! Crazy! ;)

And as they used to say on Monty Python, "and now for something completely different..."

I discovered a new app called Percolator that takes a photo from your library and applies a color-based, circle-packing algorithm to your photo, the results of which are this:

Gives your photos sort of a modern version of a 60s pop-art type of vibe. Just a nice little bit of fun for a change. You can see more of these photos and the originals they are based on at my Flickr page.

I finally saved enough to get Hipstamatic. :) It's really fun.

I think we'll look back on this period as the time when photo quality (independent of megapixels) encouraged us to degrade the photograph to improve it.

And perhaps not to try so hard for that technically perfect photo and focus on the subject, texture, shape, etc..

Hello I would like to clarify something here. From what I can see, and heard, the iPhone 4 stock camera has over-saturated colors. And this is because of the image processing algorithms. So I would like to ask when these apps take photos, will it be the already processed jpg files or unedited raw files so that we can edit it in-app ourselves (and, as a result, would not have the overly saturated colors)?

Thanks

Sorry for bumping this up but can anyone answer my question please?

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks alot guys.

As far as I can see in the plist file, the iPhone camera is set to 1.05 saturation when taking pictures. I think you can edit this plist file to get the desired effect on saturation.

The file is located at /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Celestial.framework/N90/CameraSetup.plist

There are a bunch of other settings you can edit there

Here is a pic i took with pano while pumpin gas at wal-mart in the morning n added the sunset thing from camera+ with hdr aswell

I find it amusing, and aggravating, that the Camera+ website, plus Lisa Bettany's Twitter and Facebook page, are effectively shut down ever since the app got pulled. Considering how active Lisa's pages used to be (what with the contests, video help/marketing, and Twitter updates), it just comes off as absurd.

Look guys, we know what happened, and hiding under the covers does not do anything except annoy the thousands of people who bought the app and expect future support for it. Does it really hurt them to post at least a small note saying they're doing everything they can to get the situation rectified?

here are some I took last week using Hipstamatic and camera +

These are all great pictures daboltz, but these two above are my favorites.

Just got this after seeing your post. One of the coolest photo apps ever.

Yeah, I'm definitely having too much fun with it! It makes me want to go back and start relearning Processing again so I can create my own variation of this effect (and animate it!)

Created using the Percolator app applied on this photo of mine:

Their agreement with Apple states that developers can't change the functionality of dedicated components of the iPhone, such as the volume buttons.

She said on TWiT the other week that they sold $250,000 worth of the app in the first month. I'd guess they're feeling pretty stupid at the amount of revenue they've lost by trying to tweak the nose of Apple's Developer Agreement right now... Whether you agree with the T&C or not, jeopardising that revenue stream for the sake of an easter egg rates as one of the most stupid business decisions I've seen recently.

not to sound stupid but this "breach of contract" mean they have lost all revenues on the Camera+ app?
