To resolve the issue for me I have deleted every single photo on my devices and I will no longer store them on my devices.

I have setup a new OneDrive account & installed the app on the phone just to upload photos automatically for me from my phone.

At the end of the day I'll delete what ever pictures I have taken that are on my devices, twice, and I'm done with that garbage photo app.

I'll do my editing and storing of my photos on the computer where I can sort them as I desire. Not how Apple tells and makes me do it.

I can see how that's a problem. Certainly not a deal breaker.

And here's where you guys lose me. That's how it's always been with Photostream...

But I guess you're looking for a separate view??
the macrumors article has a terrible title. why isn't it titled like the iphone hacks one and made a big deal?

If I want to find a photo from my trip....i go to my phone and click camera roll and find it. Now, i'll have to do the same thing and sort through random pictures that may have fallen in between bc it's all in the same folder. Plus, the recently added folder on my iPhone shows pictures all out of order from what it looks like on my iPad.

Also, i thought the whole point of the iCloud drive was to be like dropbox where you can organize pictures in folders and see them in your iCloud drive? Feel bad for the people that signed up and are paying apple for a service they aren't delivering

By this logic, if the phone turns on, makes a call and receives a message - it's perfect and nothing else is a deal breaker. But little things add up and the discontent grows. You're just too blind of a fanboy to see it and you'd kill your mom in apple's defense. BREAKING NEWS: They don't need your defense, nor they care about you.

Oh, I'm sorry that the Photos app works for me has it always had.

It certainly sounds like you need to manage your photos better if you have miscellaneous photos sitting in a timeline it's not suppose to be.

Apple doesn't have to care about me. They provide a product and service and I pay for it. That's the contract and I'm good with that.

It really sounds like iOS is not for you.

apple shouldnt have messed with the photo app from jump, it was perfect how it was, and this (deleted photos album) is the dumbest thing ever, atleast give the option of being asked are you sure, dont just put my pics in a folder i never asked for lol

Now you're even worse than a blind fanboy. I need to manage better my photos? LOL, are you serious? If i take casual photos here and there, what do i have to do with them? It really sounds like iOS is not for me, and it become not for me TODAY because of a stupid camera roll album, but it was for me from the first iphone they have released? Man, that's beyond stupid, beyond blind, beyond fanatism. That's some lunatic asylum right there.

i agree, some people are just to far up apples (cloud) to admit the simple mistakes they make, i dont even blame android users and or those commercials for bashing apple like they do

This really sucks...anyone have a link to where we can officially 'complain' / 'suggest they add it back' to apple?

you're more than an apple apologist, aren't you? your comments are condescending and pedantic and offer no room for discourse. we get your point. we're all idiots and haven't figured out how to properly use our phones.

i'll tell you what....pay for my phone and then i'll give you the option of censoring my opinion on my property. until then, keep civil or find a forum that's ok with internet bullies.

have not updated here
if I start from scratch... will I still have a folder or camera roll or what you wanna call it, containing ONLY photos shot with my iPhone??

Oh, I see how you work. You can state your opinion and I cannot. What was I thinking?

No kidding. Tim Cook could go that guy's house and poop on a paper plate - and he'd go rave to everyone how innovative, groundbreaking and creative it was.

Apple botched it, plain and simple. Insert Al Pacino as Ricky Roma 'your job is to help us....not to eff us up'....

This is not moving my cheese. This is replacing it with rotten cheese.
I'm not against change, I like improvements, but this is a step backwards! We had it both ways in iOS 7, everyone was happy, you had a choice.
Personally I got shivers every time I accidentally wandered into moments, and now I'm stuck with it. Sucks.
Choice is king.

Tim? Jony? Is that you? :p

No. It was 2x the work (and 2x the data) with iOS 7.

Because I had to delete photos from 2 locations in iOS 7.

Because photos got uploaded 2x once I exported from a 3rd party photos app (once for the original photos, and again for the exported edited photo).

There have been many threads on this so saying everyone was happy is clearly not true.

Okay. At least people weren't losing their minds like they are now. It could actually be quite simple, toggle on camera roll and or separate photo stream. Or toggle off and keep it the way it is now. Choice.

If Apple want to take something away and make us do something completely different, at least give us both options so we can try it out, losing the camera roll is a pain, especially if you don't use the cloud.

i havent updates yet but can i use the Cloud but disable the photo part of it? i hate apples cloud when it comes to organisation. the movie "sex tape" comes to mind "no one understands the cloud". i hate not know where my damn files are located or what is or isnt in the cloud and why does it delete the picture from the cloud if i only want to get rid of it from my phone to save space? STUPID

Everyone please take 30 seconds to request the 'Camera Roll' folder back!

just did it with 5 different email adresses and asked everyone else i know to follow

The thing I'm still confused about is which photos are actually store in iCloud? Are all photos on the "Photos" tab synced to iCloud?

And some photos, when I tap edit, say "This photo is not editable. Do you want to duplicate it and edit a copy?" What's going on here? Are these synced photos from iTunes?

I have about 16,000+ photos synced from my computer, that, because they are synced, are not editable or deletable or movable to other albums.

My camera roll was only about 100 photos that I haven't merged into my other photos on the computer or were important mics photo reminders (things I wanted to reference later). Now that camera roll is gone they are mixed in with my other 16k+ photos and I CAN NOT FIND THEM.

This is terrible.
What do u mean mixed????? Could u provide screenshots of albums and phoRos your talking about?

He means his 100 camera roll photos are now intermingled with the 16,000 synced photos.

One option might be to unsync the 16,000 photos from iTunes, then you should be left with the 100 camera roll photos, then manually put those into their own album. Then resync the 16,000 photos.

This is a real bummer for me. In addition to the 1500 photos in my camera roll, I have about 500 other photos synced from albums in iTunes. I have a folder I sync from my computer with just wallpapers. It's a bummer that now if I want to see a camera roll photo from 2 years ago, I need to search for it in moments where it is mixed in with these other photos.

Obviously I'll adjust, but it's disappointing. There was only 1 copy of the photo on the device, that showed up in 2 places: camera roll & moments. It stinks that now it's only accessible through moments which in my mind is an inferior option. Others will disagree but we should have the choice.

I honestly never thought that this would happen, because of the new photo searching features such as being able to search by date or location. This would seem to negate the need for moments, instead of increasing the need for it.

iOS is still the best mobile operating system ever and I'll still use it, but that doesn't mean I won't sorely miss camera roll and I hope there is enough customer demand to bring the "feature" back.
