Most people in this thread have not caught on that you are simply trolling for attention.

I haven't yet updated. Between the bad reviews that I've read, on top of HEY, WE'RE JUST GOING TO DUMP U2s NEW ALBUM ON EVERY SINGLE DEVICE WITHOUT WARNING!, I no longer trust in the almighty Apple.

Going back to android next time around.

That's your prerogative. No one is stopping you.

Perfect to you, not to others. As has already been mention the camera roll lead to duplicate photos when using photo stream. This was changed to remedy this issue.

Quote from hasanahmad's "[GUIDE] iOS 8 Photos App" thread.

"Q: Why did Apple do this?!
A: In iOS 7, you had the Camera Roll and Photo stream which had a limit of 1000 photos. The flaw in this design was that even photo stream photos were saved locally so if you had a photo in both photostream and camera roll, you had 2 duplicate photos hogging up space, this is why Photostream took up so much space on your phone. To get rid of this Apple has tried to streamline the process by having your most recent photos in the Recent Photos Tab, your shared folders in the shared tab and your 'backup' photos which are older than your recent photos or are from a phone migration readily available in the Photos Tab. This Photos Tab essentially combines the Photostream and Camera Roll in One and allows you access to save these photos on your phone if you want to."

It seems like there are a LOT better ways to fix this issue. Like...simply storing the photos one time and having different views?

This is a real bummer for me. In addition to the 1500 photos in my camera roll, I have about 500 other photos synced from albums in iTunes. I have a folder I sync from my computer with just wallpapers. It's a bummer that now if I want to see a camera roll photo from 2 years ago, I need to search for it in moments where it is mixed in with these other photos.

The old way was the same re: all photos in one place albeit a different place but no dates to separate to make the search easier. You can also type in "2012" or whatever (location, album name, etc) and it will show all photos from that. I know a lot of people don't like the new organization and it's a bummer when something you're used to changes but I like it a lot. I hated the old way. Hated. To me, it was an unorganized jumbled duplicate mess.

I have other issues with iCloud photos which I hope will be resolved in time once the desktop Photos app launches but I find the reorg of Photos on iOS8 refreshing and a welcome change, personally.

Also, hoping all the devs make the appropriate changes/updates to their apps soon which I think is one of the things upsetting people as well. I have some frustration here too.

The thing that I don't get, why remove a function when if was perfect, in iOS 7 you had your Collections/Moments and Camera Roll, making both worlds happy.

And people say "change is good, welcome to 2015" makes me want to punch them in the face, that's not a change, they just remove one of the best features of the Photos.app.

I really hope they will bring it back.

100% agreed. Why change something that worked perfectly.

Absolutely agree. Not only they broke a perfect working way to see all the photos,
but they also broke the 3rd party apps access to all the pictures. That just blows.

All this and the fact that iOS still has NO file management makes it unusable to me.

Bring back the #cameraroll! I can't believe they did this. Who the hell would ever want to store anything in horribly unreliable iCloud? So that I can worry about it every day ?

Apple, take your 180B this year and hire someone who has a clue about Syncing but before that, give me back my damn camera roll.

...this is the very reason why I created individual Folders with all my wallpapers in there, in iOS 7. I now don't have to trawl through the 'Moments' (or even through the now non-existant Camera Roll) section as I have all my wallpapers in the custom folder.

I've had separate folders since iOS 6, so much easier for the wallpaper junkie.

There will always be a better way, this is the way they chose, for the moment anyway.

All there is really left to be said is that people should make sure to submit feedback about this. You guys can yell all you want about it on these and other forums but anyone of influence at apple will likely never read it.

...just to update this - before I updated to iOS8 I created an additional album and called it 'Old Camera Roll pics. When I then updated to iOS8, as well as the old camera roll photos being sent and scrambled within the 'Moments' section, I also had copies of them within this extra folder.

Does that mean that I have created 2 lots of the same photos?!

The thing I'm still confused about is which photos are actually store in iCloud? Are all photos on the "Photos" tab synced to iCloud?

And some photos, when I tap edit, say "This photo is not editable. Do you want to duplicate it and edit a copy?" What's going on here? Are these synced photos from iTunes?

....I'de like to know this as well?! How exactly do we get the photos, from the photos app, actually uploaded to iCloud Drive as I see NO options to do this, anywhere on my iPad 2?!:confused:

For people like me who loved the function of Camera Roll, I suggest the app RollIt. It makes your Recently Added folder act and look like Camera Roll.

Are you talking about this Rollit https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rollit-photo-transfer-app/id741790426?mt=8 I have it, but I don't think it will work the way Camera Roll used to work.

I did a clean install of iOS 8 last Friday (previously had the GM), transferred all of my pics from my Mac to the iPhone via Rollit, yes, right now all the photos are in Recently Added and in the order I like, but i'm pretty sure that after a few days they will start to disappear and will only be able to find them in Collections/Moments.

I guess maybe next week will see if they still there or not, but my guess is no.

I do not use albums on my phone. A client is asking a question I'm having a hard time answering. If you had albums created for iOS 7, do they transfer to iOS 8?

She says her albums and organization are gone. She did not use iPhoto. She doesn't really want to create all the albums again.

Any info on this? It seems to be a question not asked very often. Her photos are not missing, etc. they're just missing organization that was there before.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Yep. That is the app. So far I've had all my photos in Recently Added and nothing has moved, but I see what you're saying. When syncing the phone Apple may move photos to collections/moments or delete them off Recently Added. Sounds logical, but I don't think that will happen. Only time will tell if Rollit is a great camera roll substitute.

It seems like it's back. I'm not really sure if we'd really know if provided feedback or something else entirely had much to do with it coming back (short of Apple coming out and letting us know).

I'm going to say yes. There was a massive thread about it on the Apple forums. Camera Roll is a huge feature of the photos app, removing it makes people pissed. It would be like taking away the albums view in the music app and forcing people to view songs sorted by artists instead.

I am so happy about the (possible) return of Camera Roll.

I will be able to find my screenshots and wallpapers again. Thanks.

Recently added sucks.
