Very happy about this. As someone who syncs to Aperture then the "recent photos" would be tripled (Original photo, Photostream copy, Aperture Sync). I turned off Photosync to make photo locations make more sense but it was far from a solution.

Sometimes change is good and sometimes it isn't. So I'm glad to Apple not be so stubborn in accepting that Camera Roll is useful for many users. Now all that's left is make the landscape 6+ keyboard full size rather than that crazy layout with instant access to things like "BOLD" or semi functional arrow keys.

by demand, they listened, thanks :apple:

A simple but useful going back. Recently added didn't make much sense since all we need now is the ability to move pics to folders and without copying them.

I don't get the deal with camera roll? It's exactly the same as the photos tab but with less organisation

This is correct. It also ignores meta data, which the Photos tab doesn't. Some people can't handle changes, no matter how much for the better.

Sometimes the "organization" I want is exactly the order I see it in the Camera Roll. This is not always available via the Photos Tab due to that metadata.

Maybe so, however it's a folder of only the photos I took with my phone. Putting it back doesn't change anything and leaving it out confuses people. Drove me nuts trying to scroll through three times as many photos looking for an image I knew I took with my phone but couldn't remember where and when.

Well, it looks like going forward, we'll all have both. So, the argument can end.

Sure, taking away the ability for someone to simply view all photos in a single view is a change for the better.

thanks god

I dont need my photos sorted by apples opinion, if I want all my photos in one folder thats my problem and if I wanted to organize them into albums I use the + to add an album and move them from the camera roll to the album of my choice

No one took away that ability. Its all there in the Photos tab, even organized by date, same as the camera roll. Not Date Added, but Date Created.

Lets not start again. An unorganized non-meta grid was never better than the Photos tab is now. Let's just leave it at that. Apple has decided you can all have both. Use what you prefer. So will I.

And that is the issue. If I want it organized by date added, then I should have that ability.

Organized by date added is not unorganized. It's just organized in a way you may not prefer.

If Apple gave us manageable filters that allowed us to see only photos on the device organized by date added, I'm sure the complaints would have been less severe.

how do you see all your photos not seperated by date, geotag, year in the photo tab?

I don't want my thumbnails organized by date, period. I want to be able to quickly scroll through them and not be forced to look into sub-folders. What may be better for you may not always be better for other people. You don't seem to grasp that concept,

Now you're spreading false information. The Photos tab is not sub folders. Years > Collections > Moments. Leave it zoomed in to Moments. If you never back out of Moments, you are not ever dealing with sub folders. If you have 10,000 photos, you might very well actually appreciate that ability to get back to Collections or Years to actually find something (not mention SEARCH, which is now possible thanks to meta data). All better than infinitely scrolling an unorganized grid.

Just because you 'prefer' the worst imaginable way of doing it, does not make it good or the right way for all.

Why would anyone want that? That is the exact opposite of good, and the exact opposite of the proper structure in the Photos tab.

If you need that disharmony, go to Albums tab. As of 8.1 you will have All Photos album, (dis)organized just the way you like it.

(clarification: its called All Photos if you have iCloud Photo Library enabled. Camera Roll if not).

To me Camera Roll is the only sane way of seeing what photos are on my phone or iPad that don't come from elsewhere. (Photo Stream / Aperture Sync)

Having a separate view for what's exactly on my phone with the phone being the source of original creation or saving ("save image to camera roll") is important to me.
Anyone telling me I don't need this and go with the time can do something the word filter would catch.

Also, glad we now have a nice case of precedence we can reference when people say "not going to happen, get used to it". Which is pretty rude and those people should respect there are more use cases than the most bare and simple ones they might have.
