The issue of not being able to upload old photos in apps was fixed by devs of those apps hours after iOS8 was released.

Update your apps if you are still having that problem.

Point. Hadn't noticed that was part of app updates.

Even so, for my particular use case Camera Roll is very useful. I don't like looking at groups of two or three random photos and lots of white space.

The "all photos" tab IS "camera roll" just under a different name.
With somewhat more than just be name being different.

That requires the apps to be updated. If they don't update for whatever reason or address that part of it in an update then you no longer have what you had prior to iOS 8.

I won't speak for everyone else, but I personally don't think this is an effective use of space on the Photos tab.

Yes finally!
We all have preferences, and I don't think it was necessary to actually remove camera roll. Best of both worlds!

I can't believe this.

Why on earth do we need a camera roll with iCloud photo library?

The real question is: why does the option to use Camera Roll seem to bother people? Don't like it? Don't use it. You don't see people arguing to remove features you might like.

Not everyone can use iCloud, or would like to.

What's the ETA on the release date? I hope it's soon... 8.0.2 blows

Probably with 8.1 next week. I don't think they'd bother with 8.0.3 at this point.

I'll personally wait for 8.1.1 given the current quality issues.
