All of you guys on the line wasting your time and looking like fools for a god damn phone, I could use your help in my local hospital, at least you would be doing something worth.

I am not a fanboy but I want to do this at some point once I get the opportunity to live around there and the time so maybe I can finally get a fanboy iCard. (Okay, maybe falling in line for a few hours - no overnights lol)

To be fair, when a person is employed they pay into unemployment with their tax dollars. You also have to qualify for unemployment, and to do so you need to have been employed. So we aren't exactly paying for their unemployment, they paid into it, and if you're ever unfortunate enough to lose your job you will get back some of the money that you've paid into it.

Not quite. When a person is employed, their employer pays into unemployment via tax. You can ask their employers how they recoup that money, whether it's by raising prices or other.

I live in New York and honestly, i'd rather wake up at 3 am to preorder it on Friday then camp outside 5th Avenue for 2 weeks.

Well, I would never do this, but if that's how they want to spend their time, who am I to complain?

Surely for them it's as much about the experience as it is the actual product. And of course here we are talking about them... so they are getting the attention they want.

Lots of people will do the same sort of thing on Black Friday (or Boxing Day, for my fellow Canadians). I wouldn't do that, either. The longest I have ever waited in line for a product was probably about an hour.

Apple should delay the release just to toy with them.

Assuming pre-ordering or even ordering for that matter is worth it. I think it will be even less worthwhile for 5-5S than 4-4S.

The joys of living in a small town. The original iPhone I just walked into AT&T on launch day around lunch time and walked out with an iPhone. For the 3G got in line about 10 minutes before they opened and was about 7th in line.

ITT: people who didn't read the article before commenting.

Most of these people are getting PAID to wait in line.

Same news... different year. If you ask me, these people have far too much time on their hands. But if sleeping rough for two weeks is worth being one of the first to buy another £600 phone that will (most likely) look identical to the last model, then so be it.

I have a hollow pity for them. At least there is no sign of that iJustin guy from last time.

one day, i wish people would line up for a launch they thought was going to happen but didn't

These Apple fanatics waiting in line are crazy!

(He said, as he posted on an Apple rumors website the second time today, after doing his twelfth Google search for the new iPhones.)

Yeah, THEY'RE crazy!
