Like his friends are saying, he's an eccentric nerd. I think one of the things one with a said personality would do is camp out for an iPhone. He didn't call up the news, he just set up camp like he's done for past iPhones.

He's been given attention, and he's not shoving it away, would you? People are interested in his story, so he's posting updates. He's not going "OMG LOOK AT ME I'M FIRST IN LINE FOR AN IPHONE ROFLMAO"

I actually think he is saying 'look at me I'm the first in line." Why, pray tell would he otherwise be in line a week early for a phone he's already got on order? Let's get real here.

It seems like all this debate about his 'disability' has made people unable to observe the obvious. Or perhaps observing the obvious is now politically incorrect too.

Nobody would care. Good for you. Do what makes you happy and don't let others knock you down for it.

I remember how different the tone was when a disabled black woman wanted to get an iPad for cash.

Some asked, if Apple Stores accepted food stamps yet.

Here we are, a man with seizure disorder - which is actually a fairly common condition not affecting intelligence at all - killing himself in the heat JUST TO BE THE FIRST IN LINE, and it's fine. We are so sensitive!

Mind you, get a local television crew on the guy and he will not last the scrutiny of social services and local mob rule.

I'm not questioning that his behaviour is stupid and irresponsible. But my point is that this has nothing to do with his alleged disability or condition. Seizure disorder does not make him mentally retarded or unable to make good judgements and decisions.

Frankly, his stupid action is not because, but despite his medical condition.

What would you say if I went there and started camping a week before launch?

I would call you crazy if I knew your mind was healthy. I would call this guy crazy too if he was disabled for ANY other reason EXCEPT the seizures. Yes, having seizures does not make you retarded and I do not think he is but I doubt he can see the world as healthy as someone with no problems such as this.

I agree with that statement completely. What struck me out of the whole story was "his seizure disorder and no being able to work so he is going to camp out for a week." My first question, where does he get the money to camp out? That costs money. Next, where does he get the money to buy the apple products he is camping for and then the monthly services that are required?

Now some of you may be ready to pounce on me thinking I am insensitive to his "condition" but I have had seizures since I was 16. I know good and well the impact of what something like that can have on your life. I still have to take meds for it everyday.

It just struck me that he was using that as an excuse to be able to do that. That just really irks/bothers me. Yeah, when you have one, you can't drive for 6 months to a year depending on the state you live in but your life isn't over. That to me is just crazy.

Sorry for my rant and if this has been beat to death already.

I have seizures, too, and I work. However, there are VERY different types of seizure disorders and varying intensities of seizures, and besides, there may be other factors affecting his capacity to work right now.

He is my friend and I know him, and if you knew him, you'd understand. That's all I'm going to say.

Peace.

Because he has wanted to have an adventure! :)

I hope you guys consider this before calling him names.

Do seizure medicines impair mental processes?

Seizure medicines act by reducing the excitability of nerve cells in the brain. They can also dampen normal activity and impair cognitive function -- things such as attention and concentration, energy level, mood, drive (the will to do things), and mental and motor speed on tests.

The tone wasn't different WITH ME. I could care less what people do as long as it makes them happy. Your posts are all full of wild accusations. You are personally offended that this guy is doing something that makes him happy and you start throwing all of these "claims" behind it.

There are worse things going on in the US besides this guy, sorry. Worry about the billions of dollars being spent in war and the devastation to our oceans instead maybe?

This guy is just enjoying his life, why doesn't everyone just leave him the hell alone?

He's my friend, and you don't know him at all. Wow. Yeah, he's nuts for doing it, and I'll probably make fun of him for a long time about this in a good-natured way...but that is really not cool to wish that on anyone.

You don't know him, or why he has seizures or his medical conditions.

exactly. A lot of people don't understand that when you're disabled you can't get private health insurance, and if you're on medicaid they don't allow you to work.

I don't know if that is what is going on with him, but it's what my situation is.

I know Justin and he's definitely eccentric, and I about to fell out of my chair when I saw him on Macrumors, as well as on our local news here in Dallas. JUSTIN.. yes, you are nuts to be out there camped for a week, lol.... but I'll hit you up as soon as you get so I can see an iPhone 4 in person without having to endure scary lines and crowds at the Apple Store.... I will be getting one, too, but I really don't want one so badly I will wait in line for one. :)

And, yes, he really does have seizures, and some are pretty rough.

OMG! TIMMY, ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS! Check it out, I'm known worldwide in other countries as well!

You dufus, lol! You really are clueless sometimes... :) But... I love you, man! LOL :) And yes... I can't wait to see your new iPhone 4. :)

Shockingly, I am also eligible for a fully discounted iPhone 4 upgrade already, even though I barely bought my 3GS on November 16, 2009.. weird, huh? Prolly cuz I have 3 phones on my Family Plan? Dunno... but yeah, I'm waiting until all this craziness dies down before I order one, and besides I want a WHITE iPhone 4, as I have a white 3GS currently.

Oh, and it was Matt who yelled at me from the living room last night... "TIM... OMG, Justin is on the news!" It was soooo funny.

A friend of the fool is sometimes even more of a fool!

I know that if you can camp on the sidewalk in the summer heat for a week you could hold a job doing data entry from home.

Well, I do I agree there... there ARE some jobs he could probably do, and in fact, if I had any data entry for him to do right now, I'd hire him. :)

Your statement:
Questionning the fact that a person so disabled they can't work is sitting in the hot june sun for a week while taking in tax payer dollars for a gadget he doesn't need :

You stated you were questioning the fact. It was clear, to me, that your "My opinion and others opinion" was talking about the perceived fraud he was engaged in.

I was questionning the fact that he is too disabled to work. That's a fact stated by himself and established prior in my post. Dense much ?

My opinion is that being so disabled means he gets comp and that if he can camp out, he's not that disabled in the first place.

It certainly doesn't seem like your working right now. My dad took a week off of work to go to Alaska, want to start acting like a jerk to him too?

What he does in his personal life is of absolutely no concern to you.

keep it up Justin !!

why so many haters :(

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why we call it the present.

keep it up :):apple::):apple::):apple:

He was intentionally misleading. If he owns his own business, why would he go out of his way to post "I do not work due to the fact I am disabled with a seizure disorder"??? It was a play for sympathy. People were making comments about that because it came straight from him; those WERE the facts and he has now changed them.

I wonder if there were 2 lines one for a job or one for an iphone...which would he be in....:apple:

There are plenty of disabled people who can still do stuff. This guy is sitting on a sidewalk, that sure takes a lot of energy for him doesn't it....

Why don't you quit worrying about this guys personal life? Why does any of this matter to you?

A friend of the fool is sometimes even more of a fool!

Indeed. :)

However, calling someone a "fool" is a very weighty matter, at least to that bearded dude in sandals... :p

"whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell." Matthew 5:22.

:D

When was the last time he had a seizure? Friend.
