My Nord subscription runs out next week so have signed up to Proton VPN. I use other Proton apps so was already planning to try their VPN once my current subscription ended.

I used PC Mag's deal for 70% off Proton VPN Plus so have got 2 years for £55.86 (£2.32/$2.99/month) - https://uk.pcmag.com/vpn/116478/protonvpn

Note. The price differs depending on what currency you select. GBP only gives you 56% off the 2 year plan with £3.59/month. I am in the UK but paid with USD and that gives you the 70% off. Add on a £1.62 non-Sterling transaction fee and it comes to £2.32/month. 👍
Thanks, @Mr.Ben. I was looking for a VPN and searched here to see what people were saying. I grabbed this offer as it's too good to pass up. It's coming up for a mere £3.59 a month - but I also paid in USD - and it works out at great value.

"Apple, Google stores still offer China-based VPNs"
https://www.theregister.com/2025/06/13/apple_google_chinabased_vpns/
"In April, TTP published its initial VPN report that found 20 of last year's top 100 free VPNs in the US Apple App Store showed evidence of Chinese ownership. Five of these had ties to Qihoo 360, a Chinese cybersecurity firm that has been placed on the US Commerce Department's Entity List under export-control restrictions over concerns about its alleged links to China's People's Liberation Army.
Of the five, three were eventually pulled, but two (Turbo VPN and VPN Proxy Master) remained available in the US Apple App Store as of early May, according to TTP's second report, published this week. It identified 11 other Chinese-owned VPN apps as well."

thats why there is 2 gold standards in vpn: Mullvad and Proton

close second: Windscribe , ivpn,

I’m guessing that a lot of uk users may be looking for a vpn now. If so, you might want to avail of Proton’s two year vpn subscription for £3.59 a month.

The PC Mag deal I mentioned in my earlier post is still working and beats this price for the two year plan - the GBP price is the same as Proton's direct offer, but if you select USD in the currency dropdown you'll get 70% off at $2.99/m rather than 56%off GBP. 👍 (not affiliated, just passing on a good offer 🙂)

Thanks for that. I used your link (https://uk.pcmag.com/vpn/116478/protonvpn) and it still works, and followed your advice to select USD (I used a Revolut card to pay as its very good for any sort of foreign currency payments) and it cost me around £54 for the 2 year sub - about £2.25 a month instead of £3.59 if you pay in UKP! Excellent tip, thanks again.

I’ve got Proton on the two year deal. I do have to turn it off fairly often because apps don’t play nicely with it even though it’s set to vpn from my home country
