when you close a window/app......and you get a dialog box saying something like "do you want to save" "yes" "no" "save and quit"...........etc...........

one of the options is usually blue, which means its selected so you can just press enter on keyboard.

but say if i want to choose "no" (in above example).........is there a shortcut key command???????..............in windows xp its usually the first letter of word, or alt and first letter of word (in every app)

yeah, use CMD + First letter of button caption (or esc for the cancel option)

The majority of the important stuff (copy paste cut etc) from the straight MS UI is the same on OsX but with the command or :apple: instead of the CTRL. Same goes for Photoshop, all the shortcuts are the same as Windows, but you use :apple: or command instead of CTRL. I've yet to find an equivalent of CTRL+arrow for zipping through text though, which is quite annoying. Being able to hop whole words can be nice for editing.

Apple was actually first with the Command- shortcuts and it was Windows that came up with similar shortcuts except using the CTRL key because there was no Command button.
To hop whole words, simply use alt and the arrow keys

click the "All Controls" option down the bottom of the Keyboard & Mouse preferences, then use tab and spacebar to select the blue/graphite highlighted buttons in dialogue boxes… also esc is for cancel and enter for the blue/graphite coloured buttons.

nice....thankyou.....
the blue button selects with enter....
the higlighted outline button is selected with spacebar....

sometimes this can lead to one or two more button pushes....but the fact that its tab and space bar.....those keys are in very comfortable positon ....when both hands are in proper keybaord positons..not bad.

cheers
