It's always hard to tell that just based on availability since we don't know their stock, but I did notice that the orange pros seemed to be the first ones to have their delivery slide back.

The orange 17 PM is mid October now for delivery. I just checked and 256 GB model is not available at all for pickup in any of the closest Apple Stores in Toronto.
I got lucky, my store app on my 1 phone worked to order @ 0505, other phone took till 0507 and lastly my Mac took till 0520 for the store to open. I did have the pre order setup so it didn't take long to process. 1 TB silver PM for the 19th.
Yup! Every year for the last few years, Apple reopens stock on launch day usually 15-20mins before the store opens (07:45am local). If you missed your preferred phone today, you will have a second chance!
Ordered Pro512 in Blue, have one order for delivery and one for store pickup. Knowing that I’m usually at the end of the delivery route, I’m thinking store pickup is more reliable. If it says Sept 19 and I have a time window I should be good right? If so I’ll cancel the delivery order.
No, I don't think store pickup is necessarily more reliable. Plus, store pickup can be a hassle sometimes. For me, the closest store is a 25 minute drive away and when you get there you may have to stand in line.
If you are lucky enough to have a Sept. 19 delivery date, personally I'd just stick with that.
P.S. I'll have to say it but I think part of the reason delivery dates for some people get pushed back so fast is because other people make multiple orders without any intention of keeping more than one unit. So, I would encourage you to cancel one of the orders sooner rather than later, before it hits the processing stage, for the sake of other people looking to buy.
You're charged when it ships. When you pick it up, you just have to show the QR code you're sent and ID and you're good to go.
Speaking for myself, Apple has never missed a delivery date/timeframe. If it says that your order will arrive on the 19th I would feel confident that it will arrive sometime during that day.
Apple is definitely very reliable with their delivery timelines. UPS, on the other hand...sometimes they're not up to the same caliber.
Fair enough, but I think Apple does pay to ensure delivery on the date(s) that they provide. But yes, UPS could always screw up.
I ended up ordering an iPhone Air 256GB in Cloud white. It should be here by the 19th.
I'm just pessimistic about UPS since my last Apple order experience where the driver stopped in front of my home on release day, marked the shipment as unable to deliver because I wasn't home, and left. Did the same thing the next business day. On day 3, the last attempt before they sent it back to Apple, I managed to catch the driver and had to chase the driver as he was pulling away who chuckled (???) and gave me the phone.
I haven't had an issue since then with non-Apple shipments but...yeah. Not really happy after that experience.

Store opened at 8:05 on my side and preordered done by 8:06 thanks to the pre-order setup (which I changed last minute yesterday night from silver 17PM 512 to silver 17P 512). Coming from 16PM, made the change for more enjoyable size since the battery life of the 17 Pro seems to be same as last year 16PM.
I live 6h of drive from the nearest Apple Store but thanks to training I have next week in Mtl, was able to go with in-store pick up at launch day!
