This reads like even if I have a physical Sim in my 14PM, I can still do the QuickTransfer without converting my 14PM ahead of time or getting a QR voucher. Am I reading it wrong?

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I’m wondering the same thing.

Transferring to an esim is easy, you can do it ahead of time or during the setup of your new phone. You have several options:

Convert your SIM to eSIM now (on your current iPhone)
  • Go to Settings > Cellular > Convert to eSIM (if available).
  • Not all accounts/devices show this option. If you don’t see it, you’ll need to contact your provider.
  • Once converted, your physical SIM stops working. You’d then transfer that eSIM to your new iPhone when it arrives.
  • When you set up your new phone and transfer everything over, it will take the sim with it.

Convert your SIM to eSIM by transferring it to you new phone (on your new iPhone)
  • When asked about Cellular Setup when setting up the phone.
    • You’ll see something like: “Set Up Cellular” or “Transfer from Nearby iPhone.”
  • Choose “Transfer from Nearby iPhone”
    • Make sure your OLD iPhone (with your SIM inside) is nearby, unlocked, and connected to Wi-Fi.
    • Your old phone will get a pop-up asking if you want to move your phone number to the new device.
  • Approve the Transfer
    • On your old phone, tap Continue / Approve.
    • On the new phone, follow the prompts (may involve entering a code that appears on the other phone).
  • Wait for your carrier to activate the eSIM
    • The transfer usually takes a minute or two.
    • Your physical SIM in the old iPhone will stop working once the eSIM is live on the new phone.

iPhone Air Sky Blue 256GB. Preparing for shipment. Coming from a 16PM, I rarely use the camera. Battery life is a concern, but I bought the battery pack in case I need a top up. Love the design, reminds me of the X era when the design changed massively.

The 10 nearest stores for me in Toronto have exactly 0 Pro Max available for pickup in the 256 GB size. There was one in one silver briefly at one store available for pickup, but it has disappeared. However, I want orange anyway.

However, at the Eaton Centre I do see the 1 TB and 2 TB Pro Max available. It seems the most commonly available ones are Deep Blue.
It seems like things have changed in recent hours. I swear at the time I posted previously every store in the GTA had Pro Max models available for pick up on either the 19th or the 20th. All colours and capacities.

If true, then it seems they could be getting reallocations from time to time, because yesterday afternoon they also had zero 256 GB Pro Max models.

Is your order for pick up? Mine is for pick up but I do not see any charges even though it's in processing.

Mine is pickup too, I don’t see any charges.

@Pilotequadeur are you
picking up or delivering to home?
Mine is for pick up too!
PS: sorry for the last messed up message, don’t know why the replies with quotes looks weird with Tapatalk app!

I'm going to be picking up at apple store on friday morning. Upgrading from iphone 11 pro to iphone 17 pro 256gb. Trading in the iphone 11 pro for it ($190 on website). I was wondering how the trade in process would work? As I plan to transfer everything over to the Iphone 17 pro.

Great thanks.

I never realized that transferring from physical SIM to eSIM was this easy! I thought I would have to call my carrier and have them do something on their end. If I had known I could do it myself in 10 seconds I would have done it ages ago.

It used to require the call to the carrier but as they've implemented Apple's eSIM Quick Transfer it's become this really nice, usually seamless process.

The most annoying part of the Quick Transfer is its heavy reliance on carriers to implement all of the functionality. I'm pretty sure there was a period on TELUS where you could transfer an eSIM between phones but couldn't convert a physical one to eSIM because they hadn't implemented that process on their backend yet.

I think this is part of why no one really knows how possible the transfer from physical to eSIM during the setup process is - Apple can definitely do it on their side, but who knows if our carriers also support it, and if so which ones do?

At least we're (for the most part) done with eSIM vouchers - those were such a dumb concept. Having to wait for a physical card with a QR code to arrive in the mail was pretty much the worst way of going about it.

If you're still looking, there seems to be availability at most GTA locations agains.

Good to see the 256 GB Deep Blue availability, but the one I've been looking for is the Cosmic Orange 256 GB 17 PM. Judging by the forum posts, it seems the Cosmic Orange and Silver are the most sought after, in multiple countries.

I've checked several times over the last two days and have never seen the orange 256 PM available for pickup in Toronto. If the stores have been getting reallocations of that orange model like they appear to have been for the Deep Blue, then they've been snapped up immediately.

It was the same availability for the Orange when I checked, I just happened to be clicked on blue when I took the screen shot. It seriously seems to be changing by the hour if not the minute, so keep checking.
