Not yet, no changes from preparing to ship on my end.

No, we've seen peoples' cards get charged, but no-one's actually had a departure scan from any location other than ZhengZhou yet.

Once that happens, we'll know which plane they'll be on.

The only Americans to have anything domestic in terms of tracking were those who managed to get allocated out of the stock that was already in the US before the pre-orders started. (Foxconn's been producing for weeks....we know Apple's already distributed some in-store as well as Carrier stock).

So some phones have left China? Hrm I wonder why some have if everyone is getting them on the 3rd while a lot still haven’t.

What about people who paid with Apple Pay? I have an authorization for the full amount of the purchase through Apple Pay, but I’m not sure if this means the payment is completely through or if the bank might still reject it at this point. This is the first time I’ve ordered using Apple Pay so I’m not sure!

Well, there's a difference between a pre-auth and an actual charge (doesn't the web site for your credit card show you which is which? Mine does).
Your card is typically charged once Apple actually ships the phone. (they'll be bundled by the skid and all charged at the same time as each skid is scanned).

ZhengZhou isn't a big airport. They jump to another airport to load the trans-pacific flight that goes to Anchorage.

For those that are looking at chargers for their X, these should be back in stock in the next couple of weeks:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00JDEEOVU/

Hopefully they have the price back down to $18.99 when they do (that's what they were selling the white ones for). That's a 3-coil charger that will work with the X (already tested mine with my friend's 8+). 3 coils is important so it isn't super-fussy about placement.

I bought one for my bedside table and another one for the car. :)

Edit: Oh, and you'll want at least 2.1A to drive that if you buy one of them for your car, so you may also need to get one of these (2.4A per port):

So I ordered a case and a X on different orders. My case has shipped and using that I figured out how to get track by ref working. You should use your phone number with country code, so a 1 for us. I used 1647xxxxxxx and my postal code with no space and was able to find my case tracking. No luck on the iPhone yet even though it went PFS already.

Wow... some of these iUP stories are nuts. I saw on reddit someone claims they had a December date, and got moved to launch day. Getting away with murder.

Meanwhile we get punished for actually buying our phones lol. :(
Unbelievable... I think next time I will definitely be ordering through my carrier. I still owe $500 on my 7+ (i already sold it a month back). It's scheduled to be paid off by April 2019, but in Sept of 2018 before the X+ comes out ill just pay the few hundred left, sell the X and upgrade to the X+ through Bell on a contract.

The X+ is the phone i REALLY want to be honest. I already know that i will be underwhelmed at the 5.8 screen. When I saw the note 8 in person, i knew i wanted an iPhone with a screen that size.

Everyone:

I have a thought. And since we are here to kill time I think a meaningful discussion on this would be interesting.

So based on our anecdotal evidence, it looks as though orders in Canada that were done directly through Apple (whether by the website or App) up until 3:05AM (EST). As of any order past 3:05AM (meaning 3:06 and later) have been confirmed as moving directly to a November 21-28 delivery date. There is one poster from Canada who has gotten a November 14-21 estimated delivery date, and his order was between 3:05-3:06AM. Many of us in the Nov 21-28 bracket have times from 3:06-3:12.

Apple allocates their phones by country, then breaks it down between quantities for carriers (e.g. Bell), third-party retailers (e.g. Best Buy), and Apple themselves. Most of us in this thread fell into the category of buying from Apple themselves. So anything regarding delivery dates and quantities that has to do with carriers and third-party retailers is irrelevant for us.

Apple sells on a first-come first-serve basis. Apple also schedules their deliveries well in advance based on estimated stock. So they already knew that once the initial stock earmarked for Canadian Apple store customers was sold, the next time a shipment would be available wouldn't be until the week of Nov 21-28. As an example, lets say there were 10,000 phones for Ontario through Apple directly. Once those 10,000 phones are sold, the 10,001'st phone jumps to the next delivery window.

It is common knowledge that there are a lot of people who got a Nov 3rd launch date who will:
- Keep the phone
- Sell the phone immediately
- Return it within the 14 day period
- Cancel the order (Buyer's Remorse)

The last 2 affects us who are waiting. What I don't seem to know is Apple's process once orders are cancelled before shipment, or what happens when a phone is used and returned within 14 days. I would assume that the orders that are cancelled before shipping will simply be easily transitioned to those who are in the queue. If this is true, WHEN does this redistribution happen? I don't think it will happen this week, Apple is focused on fulfilling launch day orders at this point. I think attention will be paid to us once the initial stock is delivered. And what about the people who return the phone after opening it? Does it go back to Apple to be checked and repackaged before being sold as new again?

As some of you may know, I was literally seconds away from a Nov 3 launch date, I had my order in at 3:05 but didn't get my email until 3:06. I feel comfortable in thinking that i'm probably pretty high up in the Queue. Also, if there were other 3:06'ers slightly ahead of me but they still also missed the launch date, some of those people may have cancelled and decided to line up or buy from another retailer.

I'm thinking about calling Apple and trying to find out if there is a queue and if there was any way i could find my place on that list lol.

so what does it means for me if there was no stock for the 14-21nov ?
I'm that 14-21 guy.
does that mean I'll be the first to get my delivery date bumped up ?

Unfortunately, those people that return phones, those phones will likely not help anyone that pre-ordered. The only exception being those that cancel before they receive them.
Even unopened product is opened and inspected at the store. Now, I think if the Apple Store staff find that the product is still new - ie. all of the packaging is intact inside, that the packaging could be restored and the item could be sold as new. But, it'll likely be sold to walk-in customers, not put back into the inventory for pre-order processing.

Any items which have all of their packaging removed cannot be sold as new - these items will hopefully just be re-certified at a repair centre and put into the warranty repair pool, but it's possible Apple may actually ship these back to Foxconn to be recertified/refurbished. I know warranty replacements often have a new model number burned into them (a friend's 8+ replacement had a model number starting with N, rather than the original M for example).

That's kind of what I suspected. Our only hope would be if people cancel their order before it is shipped. However, I doubt that number of people doing that will be significant at all; this is because the people who have buyer's remorse can still keep the order and make a few hundred bucks at least by picking up the phone on launch day and immediately flipping it. Most people will do that since it's usually an easy, quick transaction and you get tax free money in your pocket. What this essentially means it our best chance of getting the phone earlier would be if Apple allocates more stock for Canada sooner (due to increased production for example). I just can't imagine the number of people who secured a Nov 3rd date delivery and subsequently cancelled their order can't be more than 100 or so.

While not as big of a deal, I feel bad about the 8 I bought my wife only to return the next day (literally never opened it). Then shortly after we went back and bought one that she now uses. She changed her mind and I figured all was good in the world seeing as it was never opened.

@xero9 - luckily the 8's weren't anywhere near as constrained as what it's looking like the X's are, so I wouldn't feel too bad about it.

I understand Apple's policy on that - with the counterfeit manufacturers, it would be a pretty easy cash grab if people were returning boxes that every bit looked like the real thing.

There's a bunch of people that did multiple orders (to Apple, their carrier and best buy) - provided they actually cancel the orders they don't need (as opposed by getting them and reselling them), we may see a bunch of people that are waiting bumped up.

I'm likely going to try doing the walk-in thing at our store here in Waterloo on Friday if there's no change in our status by then. Heh. Provided there aren't already 200 people in line when I get there that is. :)

For those of you got the phone in a few weeks, Anyone gonna Line up on launch day hoping for a walk in purchase?
