What would that matter? It really depends on what service each, individual carrier is willing to pay for. Overnight is more expensive than two-day for example.

Call your carrier.

If they ship it on Nov 3rd, I wont get it until at least Monday Nov 6th.

If they ship it before the 3rd, it might arrive on the 3rd?

So big difference :p. They ship with Canada Post.

Our wonderful carriers are very useful and only able to tell me the order has been sent to the warehouse and they will ship it when ready.

Carriers are allowed to ship it so YOU get your device on the 3rd, yes. They aren't allowed to ship it so it arrives before launch day (but, sometimes mistakes happen).

I'm in the Nov.3 in store pickup group. CC got charged yesterday evening, but still processing order... emm
Hey Bill. Pretty sure that your order status won't change to "Ready for Pickup" until they scan the device into inventory in the store. That may not be until Thursday night or even Friday morning (thinking more likely, they'll do that Thursday though). Heh. Might just see you there Friday. :)

Got my order in at 3:05am but was lucky enough to be in the Nov. 3rd camp. Order is stuck at “Preparing for Shipment” though.

Thanks! Wondering why they are skipping the "Shipping to Store" status though lol

Yep, we haven't seen anyone get a tracking update that the shipments have left China yet. Peoples cards have been charged though, so that's a pretty good indication it will be soon.

Well, that's going to be pretty hard to predict. The store stock may already be sitting in their distribution centre in Harrisburg, PA. (have to remember that Foxconn's already been making the iPhone X for several weeks now).

Yeah, my card was charged almost immediately after I placed my order. Hoping to see movement soon.

emmm that makes sense. Thanks :) I'll go order a leather case now

Everyone:

I have a thought. And since we are here to kill time I think a meaningful discussion on this would be interesting.

So based on our anecdotal evidence, it looks as though orders in Canada that were done directly through Apple (whether by the website or App) up until 3:05AM (EST). As of any order past 3:05AM (meaning 3:06 and later) have been confirmed as moving directly to a November 21-28 delivery date. There is one poster from Canada who has gotten a November 14-21 estimated delivery date, and his order was between 3:05-3:06AM. Many of us in the Nov 21-28 bracket have times from 3:06-3:12.

Apple allocates their phones by country, then breaks it down between quantities for carriers (e.g. Bell), third-party retailers (e.g. Best Buy), and Apple themselves. Most of us in this thread fell into the category of buying from Apple themselves. So anything regarding delivery dates and quantities that has to do with carriers and third-party retailers is irrelevant for us.

Apple sells on a first-come first-serve basis. Apple also schedules their deliveries well in advance based on estimated stock. So they already knew that once the initial stock earmarked for Canadian Apple store customers was sold, the next time a shipment would be available wouldn't be until the week of Nov 21-28. As an example, lets say there were 10,000 phones for Ontario through Apple directly. Once those 10,000 phones are sold, the 10,001'st phone jumps to the next delivery window.

It is common knowledge that there are a lot of people who got a Nov 3rd launch date who will:
- Keep the phone
- Sell the phone immediately
- Return it within the 14 day period
- Cancel the order (Buyer's Remorse)

The last 2 affects us who are waiting. What I don't seem to know is Apple's process once orders are cancelled before shipment, or what happens when a phone is used and returned within 14 days. I would assume that the orders that are cancelled before shipping will simply be easily transitioned to those who are in the queue. If this is true, WHEN does this redistribution happen? I don't think it will happen this week, Apple is focused on fulfilling launch day orders at this point. I think attention will be paid to us once the initial stock is delivered. And what about the people who return the phone after opening it? Does it go back to Apple to be checked and repackaged before being sold as new again?

As some of you may know, I was literally seconds away from a Nov 3 launch date, I had my order in at 3:05 but didn't get my email until 3:06. I feel comfortable in thinking that i'm probably pretty high up in the Queue. Also, if there were other 3:06'ers slightly ahead of me but they still also missed the launch date, some of those people may have cancelled and decided to line up or buy from another retailer.

I'm thinking about calling Apple and trying to find out if there is a queue and if there was any way i could find my place on that list lol.

I don't think we will see much, if any, bumpage until after release day. Because that is when many who are disgruntled with their ship dates will queue up outside an apple store for release day walk in phones, and then end up cancelling their preorders once they get their hands on one.
Well, that's my plan anyways. -12 temps be damned.

You can do a reference search on UPS. Try two different ones. The phone number associated with your order, then another one using your order number, less the last two digits. You have to enter your country and postal code. Also have to manually change the date range so it includes November 3rd.

When I ordered my 7plus it was 2-3 weeks shipping but on release day my phone shipped I got it the Wednesday after release so there is a possibility we will get it faster but definitely not release day

I’m in the 2-3 week group so this makes me somewhat optimistic. I figured it may come a little earlier but a next week delivery would be amazing.

Wondering if it’s worth the hassle to walk in to the store on launch day and hoping I can get one

That's interesting. Every iPhone I've ordered has always come straight from China to my front door. I've never had it come from anywhere else.
Huh? ProcessingLIMBO was referring to the 14 day return policy to make up their mind whether they keep the X or not.

Me, I'd rather people cancel their order before they receive it if they're on the fence (that way someone else that's waiting may actually get their device early) - as opened returns just end up in warranty stock.

I am from Vancouver BC
Lots of rich people here who have huge purchasing power
Heh...doesn't take huge purchasing power to buy a phone. :)

Quoted the wrong part. I meant to quote the part about shipments coming from Pennsylvania as Foxconn has been building iPhones for a while now.

Yeah - I think the bulk of those have gone to distribution centres, waiting to stock the stores. We've seen a few people in the US have them allocated to their orders. (several Verizon customers if memory's correct).
Apple would want to minimize changes for a lot of people used to pre-ordering....they get confused and then call Apple Support....all those calls cost $$$. :)

You guys are lucky to have an Apple store near you. I live in Windsor so the closest one is London. I will just scour the instore pickups and make a day of t if I am lucky to stumble upon one
Umm. Isn't your closest one Detroit? :) Ah...that's right...they don't have unlocked phones down there yet. Craptastic!!

That makes sense and why every phone I’ve order in the past came from China. I won’t expect anything different this year!

I wonder if part of the reason Canadian orders haven’t shipped yet is because there are only a handful of major cities they need to be shipped to in most cases, reducing transit time.

Nope, the Americans waiting to ship haven't yet either. All of you 11/3 folks (thus far) are on the same plane. Even the UK folks.
You can tell because normally everyones cards are charged just before they're shipped - and there's been a lot of that, starting this morning.

Honestly, I'm surprised the plane hasn't left yet....typically, it doesn't take them the better part of a day to fill a plane.

Anywho....just like getting your car washed usually makes it rain, I gotta run out, so I'm guessing the tracking updates will happen the second I leave. :)
