Honest question: Since the storage diffence between models is quite significant... 64 GB & 256 GB, is there any specific reason you chose to go with the smaller option?

Personally I chose 256 because I’m currently using a 128 GB 7+. I also think that the new camera would be storage-hungry.

Thoughts?

I wasn't sure which to choose because I'm in the same boat as you (128gb 7+)... I went for the 64gb partly because of cost (I budgeted for either model, but it just didn't sit right to pay $1727 for a cellphone -the $1491 is already a lot to justify!) and I also went through my current phone and deleted a lot of unwanted photos and Apps which brought my current usage down to under 40gb... as wtmk81 says above, I'm thinking about upping my iCloud storage for photos.

Awesome news!

As I suspected, the phones are already in Canada since the original scan is in Concord - UPS main depot in Toronto. So for those of us who are in the GTA, we probably won't see status updates until late Wed/early Thursday.

That's a relief to know. I'm in Toronto with a Nov 3 ship date and it's still "Preparing". Hope you're right!

I am the same....it was easier for me because I still have about 92GB of storage left out of 128GB. So I chose 64GB partially because of my usage and the price. I can get a Macbook for $1700!

For pickup orders, pretty sure your status won't change to "Ready for Pickup" until your phone is scanned into store inventory. They won't do that until Thursday night/Friday morning.

LMAO this speaks to me on a personal level. My UPS guy always comes around 4-6PM. Every time I think it'll be different lol. Let's see what happens Friday.

This is why, when UPS is the courier for anything I order, I always ship to my work: they always arrive in their UPS van before 12:00 pm and very nicely leave it at reception after getting a signature. That or I use My Choice and have them hold it at a UPS location for pickup. It is usually ready early afternoon.

If I get them to ship to my home address, it ends up being some independent contractor in a minivan who basically shows up at 5-7pm throws the box on my front steps, rings the doorbell and is peeling down street like a getaway driver by time I even open the door (even with signature required!). I almost had a heart attack when they did that to a designer purse I ordered. Fortunately it was fine, and I learned my lesson!

Our 11/3 crowd - does everyone have tracking from Concord or were some on the NCR628 flight from ZhengZhou that landed in Louisville this morning?
No updates, still preparing to ship. I’m in the Ottawa region and ups my choice shows nothing.

I really think all phones are at UPS already sitting there. They will only do next day shipping so it won't be shipped until tomorrow. for people that live in GTA, it could be shipped Friday.

It’s possible of course, but last year for my iPhone 7 Plus order there was definitely tracking from China. Has this happened before? Where most of the launch day stock has actually been in Canada since pre-orders?

Canada probably doesn't have that much stock, so it is possible most were sent already.

I don't recall that happening before, but we also know Foxconn was producing and shipping iPhoneX's for a few weeks now (before pre-order began). I know some already shipped to Europe (that was in an earlier MR article). I figured most of that would be for store stock and possibly seeding carriers...but we've seen a bunch of the Americans tracking their phones (like we normally do) from China.

This info might help some people.. from my previous experience, sometimes the release day phones are shipped in advance to "secret locations" in the US (in otherwords, several warehouses) and sometimes they come direct from China -this year, it could be a combination of both. So sometimes tracking all the way from China is available, sometimes it isn't.

Source: Have preordered 6x iPhones, 3x iPads, 1x Apple Watch & 2x MacBooks through Apple.

I've got an in-store pickup Friday evening; still showing processing as well. This will be a first (previous pre-orders I was always able to get launch day delivery) so glad I'm not the only one in this boat.

Yep, we've seen that. Some of the Verizon orders had origin scans at Apple's distribution centre in Harrisburg, PA. Concord is UPS main hub in the east...shipments usually come from Harrisburg or Louisville through Mount Hope (Hamilton) to Concord, then split up to regional shipments (or put on local delivery trucks for the GTA crowd).

Exactly, but I guess what I'm trying to tell the people that asks the same question a million times is that there's no need to have a heart attack just because there's no tracking yet.

This is strange. I just reserved a 256 silver on Fido website (as a new customer) and it is showing my position as number 2?! Some people preordered before me. Looks like a system error...

Or maybe people realized that Fido won't just let you buy a new phone "full pop" without signing up for a new contract? (and cancelled)

Me, I'll keep my $55/6GB plan with no commitment. Only thing I'm going to change is add the watch once Rogers gets their eSIM provisioning sorted.

Uh oh, just saw a UPS truck roll in.. leather & silicone cases?

Edit: Yup, cases just arrived. UPS usually hits between 11 and 12 at my office. Earlier today.

Yeah. I don't really care about my existing plan. Its the standard ****** $100+ one with Rogers, so I don't mind switching to a different carrier (pricing is ****** across the board, unless grandfathered or out of province trick).

I originally ordered 64gb as I am coming from a 16gb 5s (12gb used). I use Google Photos and have 1TB Microsoft OneDrive for photo & video storage. I figured it was plenty for me due to my cloud use. I don’t tend to keep that many apps on my phone either. But I cancelled and reordered as I decided I wanted Silver, by which time only the 256gb was still shipping Nov 2.

I may never need all that local storage but since I plan to keep phone for a while I suppose it is not a bad thing and I am not sitting here wondering “will it be enough?” It does amuse me it has much more storage than my iPad Air/iPad Air 2/iPad Mini 4/5s combined, or heck has the same as my Lenovo X1 Yoga’s SSD.

I am hoping apple does prepare to ship the 21-28 people by Friday it would give me more confidence that it’ll come earlier haha judging from all the United States folks getting significantly bumped up and the upgrade program getting more love, hopefully canada gets some love back
