You should setup the alerts on iStocknow so you get an e-mail notification if one comes available in any of the stores you want. There may be phones come available at random intervals during the day (as there was yesterday).
Awesome thanks. I will do that.

Out of curiosity, when it is sold out do you get an error saying “an error occurred trying to fullfil your request”?

It may have been that. Heh. You get so busy trying to get through one of them, you tend to not pay a lot of attention when they error out. :)

You also get "There's no more slots for your request" - I thought that was because all the reservation slots were full...obviously not the case.

istocknow is a waste of time.
all 5 stores Im watching showed stock for a few seconds and are gone
no email
no browser aleart

I don't think I be able to get a iPhone until when my pre-order ships. People are just so fast

I found it a bit quicker to order via reserve with a contract. This way the system doesn't have to try to process a payment.

I did that... Then went in to the store yesterday and picked up my phone... Just had to pay for it there rather than online. No biggie.

Im on a 100mb connection
[doublepost=1509886213][/doublepost]I thought reserve you always pay at pickup?

Can you charge it to your card before you go pick it up, or does the person picking it up have to pay?
A reservation isn't a purchase. There isn't an option on the reservation page to pre-pay for the purchase. This is by design - if you don't show up, Apple wants to re-sell your iPhone to someone else that wants it.

If you're having someone else pick it up, they'll have to pay for it.

should have asked my boss to pick up one while he was in the states
[doublepost=1509886654][/doublepost]tempted to attempt a walkin at sherway

really? Mine charged my credit card. Picking up at 3pm at Square One.

Had two silver 256gb reserved at Yorkdale yesterday, but when I got off work to pick them up, I realize I forgot to bring my wallet

this reserve system is broken... in Winnipeg all models were available for 30 mins+ and in alberta one phone for 3 seconds at 6 and nothing....
poor stock allocation

I think they only add as much stock as they have timeslots available for reserve pickups
some stores seem to have more added as the day goes on.
im guessing those are no show/canceled

@LOVIN SOUL GLO I'm returning the 256GB SG because that's more than I want to spend. I want the 64 SG, but I want to rock it naked....so that means AC+ - $1772 vs $2009.

Why I picked up the 256 SG? Because it taunted me 4 friggin' times being available at Masonville....it allows me to play with it now and then return it if/when I get my 64 SG. I still have my pre-order for the 20-27.

I also feel a little entitled considering how Apple has dealt with us this launch. It's ridiculous how much more stock the US got than the rest of the world. People were ordering from Sprint HOURS after we did and still got launch day deliveries. Then Apple adds insult to injury and delivers stock to the stores rather than filling the pre-orders. The vast majority of that stock is being grabbed by scalpers.

At the store in Waterloo (where I was foolish enough to line up at 12:30am) the 3 extra security guards Apple hired to manage crowd control for the walk-ins were there in line with their friends before an Apple exec showed up in a suit (I've since found out it wasn't the store manager). When he showed up, they dropped out of line and walked over and stayed with him. They then followed him into the mall through another entrance.
About 15-20 minutes before the doors open, a whole bunch of people came out of their cars where they were staying warm and rushed up to join the two groups at the front of the line. The doors opened at 6:30....how did they know?
All of us were yelling at them to move to the back of the line....they just smiled and shrugged their shoulders at us. This is Canada....what are we going to do? Get an assault charge?? I went from being 25th in line to 45th.
Doors opened, we lined up in front....they did a count....there was 150-200 of us (think it was one of the better turns outs of any of the stores), but the store only had 40-50 and everyone at the front took two. Long gone before it got to me.
Heh...and it seems most of the stores were given the iPhone I actually want....the 64GB SG. :(

I saw the additional security guards lazing on couches playing on their phones on my way out. That's when I figured out how those people knew when to dash from their cars.

Oh...and pretty sure both of those groups were scalpers....the one guy was coaching 4 of the girls in front of us what they were supposed to be asking for.

So, yep, I feel a little entitled to a loaner from Apple....originally when I got the reservation I was on the fence whether I'd keep it or not, but this launch has done nothing but underscore how little Apple thinks of its customers...especially those outside of the good ol' US of A. The American stores had hundreds of devices for walk-ins.

Please don’t think I was instigating anything. Just curious if it was a colour reason or something else. It seems like the whole lining up experience was negative for most posters.

How do you like the phone? I have been loving it so far.

Heh...figured I'd nip it in the bud...a lot of people set you up for the "flame on" here on MR. :)

Really impressed with how fast Face ID is - all of the concerns for it not being as fast for unlocking are gone. Great for authenticating for purchases too!!!
Love the screen. Wish I could try out the camera today, but it's foggy and misty (and miserable) out there, so that'll have to wait. May grab a few snaps regardless.

Apple sent me a survey for the recent Order/Purchase experience.

I commented on the oddity of pre-ordering system giving me Nov 21-28, and then being able to simply reserve or walk-in to an Apple Store and getting one.

Maybe they do this to balance customer satisfaction on both fronts. In which case, it's probably doing a decent enough job. We're a very small minority that obsesses over 2-3 weeks difference.

THIS.

When I was finally able to get my 256 Silver yesterday, I returned my 64 GB Space Grey from launch day (sorry fischersd ). The employee asked me why I was returning a phone I bought yesterday. I said I'm returning it because I finally got what I wanted, in another store, today. The "rollout" of launch day stock was atrocious. Why the hell were stores only getting one freakin model? After waiting 16 hours, you have to go home with something! Then they had the audacity to tell me "Apple doesn't encourage waiting in line on launch day", and I quote "it's like lining up at an event, without a ticket to get in". Sure, I made the decision to wait... but don't exclude yourself from responsibility, when you are filming us for Apple PR hype montages. Plus, lining up for Apple products is the world's least secret unspoken tradition.

So no, I don't feel bad returning my opened 1-day-old device. Because they brought this on themselves.

And indeed you shouldn't feel bad for returning it, Apple is being a d1ck anyway. The people reselling for a profit should be arrested on the other hand.
